With the game dominating the conversation everywhere you look, it's not a huge surprise to learn that Elden Ring is now the best-selling game of 2022 so far in the USA. Apparently, it's second only to Call of Duty: Vanguard in terms of launch month sales for games released in the last 12 months. It's doing well, then.
It follows that it's also the top-selling game for the month of February, pipping Horizon Forbidden West to the post on the monthly chart. Speaking of Guerrilla's sequel, the PlayStation exclusive has also done very well in the year-to-date chart, debuting in third position. It's also set a launch month, dollar-sales record for PS5 software, and is first on the PlayStation-specific chart — we've no doubt Jim Ryan will be happy with that.
In terms of hardware, the PS5 is 2022's highest earner, leading the way with regarding dollar sales year-to-date. Nintendo Switch has it beat when it comes to units sold for February and the year so far, but that's to be expected with Sony still struggling to get PS5 stock out the door.

I just want to say it’s cool to see Dying Light also up there even with digital not included (pretty sure it would be in the same position regardless).
Xbox Series was number 2 in February units sold and in dollars (NPD).
I bet March will be reversed.
Its great seeing Elden Ring do so well as its fantastic.
I wish Nintendo would share their digital sales...
@PenguinL It’s so much easier to naturally overlevel by exploring in order to make the hard bits easier. Even then, I reckon you could have loads of fun without even tackling the harder bosses.
@PenguinL The world makes you curious, it's super interesting. When you're not even playing, you're thinking "I never did check out that ruin southwest of that lake with giant crabs" or "what's that moving building with four legs, how do get it to stop." And like RDR2 and HFW, Elden Ring's different areas have personalities, not just copypasted looking all the same like Ubisoft's worlds. You should try it, when you it gets difficult, there are millions of places to go exploring and level up.
@PenguinL I bought Elden Ring yesterday having never played a Souls Game in my life, and ive been playing it all day on my day off! Im just wandering, exploring, practising and getting more confident with how things work before headlining for the bosses etc and im having an absolute blast with it
@Shredderlovespizza NPD does include digital sales if they’re available. They’re included for everything except the games with an asterisk next to the name (which are mostly Nintendo).
Elden ring and horizon forbidden west, forever tied together, like hzd and botw were before them..
Horizon FW came out, what, one week earlier than Elden Ring? It’s too bad for Sony that HFW wasn’t released a few weeks earlier. I’m sure they would’ve gotten a lot more sales with a lot less competition in those couple of weeks.
Horizon Forbidden West still outsold Elden Ring on the Playstation side of things? So it is multiplat effect after all. I would have bet Elden Ring would have been number 1 on Playstation platforms too.
Dying Light 2 is also on a strong position. Gaming this year is definitely a highlight already. And we are just in the first quarter.
@jgrangervikings1
Multiplatform versus dual platform.
Back in 2013 Bioshock Infinite outsold The Last of Us pretty easily. But it was available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The Last of Us was confined to PS3 at the time.
Well deserved success. I hope other open world games take some lessons from this masterpiece.
Miles Morales has become a bit of an evergreen title in its own right. That’s actually pretty impressive too.
I expect both ER and HFW to have long legs as well, and continue to dot the charts in many weeks to come. They are unlikely to be charting near the top 10 a year and a half from now though.
Very impressive to see Horizon and Elden Ring go head to head on the sales charts. Expecting both of these games to be at the top for a while.
@JAMes-BroWWWn stupid release date for HFW, should've been come out 2-3w earlier, or later. Can't believe they've underestimated ER success
Elden Ring marketing was performed very well. They generated the right amount of hype for the game by using From Software's brand recognition and the final product delivered what was promised.
@Savage_Joe because it isn't ,Xbox was second over the Christmas period as well

@Savage_Joe oh ok
@Savage_Joe Because it isn't that impressive when PS5 was hardly in stock to begin with.
@JAMes-BroWWWn ER had 2 days of tracking compared to HFW's 9 days of tracking.
