Horizon Forbidden West has just received its latest update, and it's another big one that makes all kinds of fixes and improvements. Patch 1.07 is available right now for both the PlayStation 5 and PS4 versions, so if you're still going through Aloy's adventure, you'll want to get this installed.
A big portion of the patch is dedicated to quest-specific fixes, removing progression blockers and other quirks that appear in rare instances. Outside of these, side activities like Gauntlet Runs and Salvage Contracts have also had some attention, again smoothing the experience and squishing some bugs.
Elsewhere, a couple of UI tweaks have been made; for example, you can now make Weapons & Ammo and Tools & Potions 'Always Off' in the HUD settings. As for visuals, Guerrilla has made "several tweaks to vegetation to improve image quality in the Favor Performance mode". Oh, and clouds will now look even better, somehow.
Photo Mode has had some TLC too, with some quality of life changes, more focal length options, and more besides.
We've embedded the full patch notes below (possible spoilers for quest names). Patch 1.07 comes in at 781.4MB, so it won't take you too long to get your game up to date. How are you getting on in the game so far? If you need any help, don't forget to check out our enormous Horizon Forbidden West guide.

Will try it out later.
H2, GT7, CP2077 good amount of fantastic games currently
@PenguinL im really impressed with CP2077 so far. It’s a lot of fun. After the huge disappointment during release it’s so nice to finally have the game in a good shape.
Even the visuals are pretty good in most areas. Nice atmosphere and characters.
Really really love this game, 50+ hours at 33% completion, didn't play much last night as I made the mistake of having "A quick go" of super monkey Ball 😂.
@Anke you 100% the game in a week?
Question to people that bought this game on release date. Wouldn't it be better to wait a week or two to get all those patches and updates with also cheaper price for the game?
@Yorgen I've been playing since launch and not had any issues. I think it's down to luck, plus I'm just taking my time and exploring everywhere so haven't seen all the game has to offer yet.
Just completed the game a week ago. Guerilla really upped their story telling in this game. There are a lot of Jaw Dropping Moments if you have played through and completed Zero Dawn.
My game of the year, so far.
Now to go for platinum!
What keeps pulling me out of the game is Aloy's hair. It just isn't moving naturally at all. Appreciate it's a tricky thing to animate but really does break my immersion quite often!
Anyone else?
I've platinumed this now but in all that time I just had a few minor issues like clipping etc. but nothing with any of the quests. Great that they are fixing the big things that might stop someone progressing though.
@Yorgen Wouldn't it be better if all these fixes happened before the game released?
You're unlikely to do anything worthwhile, relevant, and/or interesting if you're always waiting for things to be better.
Glad to see another really detailed patch released. Going by the comment from @Gloamin, I'm beginning to wonder if they will ever be able to truly fix Performance Mode. We'll see I guess, but I've gotten used to the beautiful Resolution Mode, so it's less of an issue for me than it was before.
Still, hopefully they are somehow able to continue to work on it as it's something that should have never happened as it's not an issue with the first one on the PS5. I'm still loving the game regardless though.
@Yorgen sure. This is valid for nearly every game these days.
@KilloWertz we will see. The Adressen it partially in this patch while mentioning again on twitter that they continue to fix this. I think it will become better step by step but never will be perfect (whatever perfect means in this case).
One thing I wish they’d fix: when you go to a merchant, and they have an item you need to complete a job, there is a job icon on the category, but no indicator on the actual part. Be nice if there was an icon on the part so you know to buy it.
Other than that, great to see them constantly updating and improving!
@Yorgen The game is certainly buggy (the most buggy game I have played in recent memory), including bugs that can permanently prevent progression on side-content, so I would highly recommend keeping a couple backup saves just in case; but the bugs don't (usually) distract enough from the gameplay to warrant waiting to play the game.
Its also one of the more enjoyable games I have played recently, so on balance, to me, the bugs are worth the experience.
@everynowandben Nowadays games just ship not finished and we can't change that. In regards to your point, in this case somebody can still experience the entire thing, but with fixed issues and for a lower price. Seems unreasonable to pay full price for unpolished game.
The only bug I really had is the one where Aloy doesn't stop talking. I hope that they fix that one.
Having a blast so far, 50 hours in and only half the map done. Easily the best game released this new gen
@Yorgen What you said gave me an interesting thought that I'm suprised doesn't happen. Games could release at a slightly lower price for a limited window say the first week of launch at £10/$10 off.
This way people have an incentive to buy early and are rewarded someway for being essentially final beta testers. And the publishers wins as it surely convinces more to buy at launch.
Christ this game was buggy as hell wasn't it. I love Horizon but the amount of bug fixes now is pretty ridiculous tbh.
Glad they addressed some of the salvage quest issues but it doesn't sound like what they did fix helps me any. In fact the unintentional black screen fix is the only one I see that applies and that was in the patch notes last time but didn't much help.
Curious how some of you have not had any issues though. Has me wondering are you not noticing them or is your game really running that perfect while mine rivals Cyberpunk at launch. Then again I do have like 80 hours in this game already so maybe it's just a matter of time played.
@thedevilsjester Uhh in recent memory goes to Cyberpunk. It's fixed now ofc but when it launched, oh boy.
@Yorgen when specifically will it be at a lower price? And how much lower will it be? If someone can tell me those two things then sure, I might could wait because I'd know. Otherwise I'd rather just play it when it comes out.
This really is not all that much different than going to the theater to watch a movie. I acknowledge that the product doesn't really change but a theater really is the most uncomfortable and most inconvenient way to see a movie and yet it's ridiculously more expensive than say a rental.
@Reeneman So many games at the moment!
@RubyCarbuncle My comment was specific to games that I have played and I skipped CP2077.
In HZ:FW I have experienced getting stuck in the game world (a lot), having enemies teleport across the screen when killed (a lot), having NPCS that I am supposed to follow, run back and forth in front of me, having enemies get stuck in alert mode and staring off into space indefinitely even if I shoot them (I have seen entire rebel camps in this state!), having blocks that I am supposed to move, be stuck in the environment, having enemies I am supposed to kill fail to spawn, having quests and locations fail to update on the map (even when they are completed!), having quest triggers (like moving Alva to the console) fail, etc...
I can't honestly recall another game that I have experienced so many bugs in. It genuinely surprised me as I tend to fall in to the other camp where I don't experience the bugs that most do.
I want to be clear that I love the game, even with all of its warts and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it; but whoa is it buggy.
I finished 85% of the game in difficulty normal. Now replaying it in very hard so the patch is very welcome 😎
@zupertramp I just checked it on FB marketplace and I could get it today for 25 £. Its been out for almost 3 weeks.
The Elusive Fanghorn quest was a pretty fun one. I like how you miss A LOT in this game when you don't do side quests, goes for the skim through the main campaign in a hurry type players.
@MightyDemon82 two days actually.
“Added smoother transition between Tropospheric and Cirrus cloud layers, and better matching of the coloring of the supercell Anvil and Cirrus clouds.”
Talk about attention to detail! 😱
Finally! Having the rocks or mount icon in the corner with everything else off was bugging me.
Guerrilla is working hard on improving as much as possible. Hats off to them!
I had a quest a few nights ago bug when a machine was stuck in the wall and never died, no matter what I did. I just ran to a campfire, fast traveled away then back and killed all three machines and progressed the quest.
@Spanky She should at least wait a while before spoiling the sollution to some puzzles.
@Anke you cleared the map and did everything that there is to do as well as get the platinum in 2 days 😳 that's crazy!
Removed - flaming/arguing
@ApostateMage but still this is always shown when you have the HUD settings overall to Dynamic. I think this icon should be part of this setting.
@Yorgen so your question is more why don't people buy secondhand? I mean yeah, i guess that's always an option, one i don't really consider though.
In anycase i prefer digital to accommodate multiple consoles.
@Chylde_Of_Shade @MightyDemon82 Lol there are liars on the internet as there are irl. I don't see the achievement in rushing things.
@Chylde_Of_Shade not sure if being serious or not but sure, here you go: https://psnprofiles.com/ankeuk
@MightyDemon82 aye, didn't run into any issues either. Pretty plain sailing.
Almost 30 hours in, and is my favorite PS5 game so far. I have had no issues with bugs. Simply a great game. I think performance mode looks astounding.
@TheArt @Chylde_Of_Shade to be fair to Anke it does say on their PSNprofile they platted the game in 2 day 14 hours. But when I say 100% I mean do Everything and not just the minimum for the platinum!
@Anke looking at your PSNprofile your obviously a keen platinum hunter. I will platinum this but I'm not using fast travel anytime soon unless it's for a trophy.
@MightyDemon82 ahh I get your point, 100% would take a fair bit longer, not sure how far I was away from full completion to be honest.
@MightyDemon82 it was a fun platinum for sure and well worth not fast travelling. I hope you enjoy the rest of it
And they still haven't fixed the Speedy Lancehorns salvage quest...
Lucky that I haven't experienced any of the game progression bugs, I've had a few instances of enemies being invisible when fighting them
@Reeneman Yeah, I was puzzled as to why only the potions/traps icon stayed on-screen. At least you can turn it off now for a completely icon free HUD.
@Sushisunbreak I agree. It gets so bad that when I'm climbing a ladder she has to say "I got to climb up this obvious ladder to solve this puzzle." Or when she interrupts fellow NPCs by saying the most mundane instructions to the puzzle. Like calm down Aloy, I'm not a games reviewer.
@MightyDemon82 @Anke Naah that's a Photoshop pic 🤣🤣
I've been lucky as to not had too many bad experiences with the game so far. A few black screens and freezes but my main beef is I wish the already visited metal flowers would either turn green as completed or vanish altogether along with the firegleam.
I'm irked that they still haven't fixed the firegleam/metal flower bug, but that's just one in a laundry list of inexcusable bugs this game launched with. YMMV, but I've had so many little annoying bugs that have compounded over 80+ hours that the bad has started to outweigh the good. At damn near every single turn there's something getting in the way of the fun. Whether that's terrible pathing with climbing, clipping issues, f'd up hitboxes on certain machines, sporadically unresponsive controls, a garbage upgrade economy with way too many currencies, terrible RNG for finding specific upgrade materials, etc., etc., etc...I just don't understand how Forbidden West took 5 years to develop and is such a massive step backwards from Zero Dawn.
Finishing the "A" plot is the only reason I haven't given up on it entirely, because I kind of hate everything else...and I say that as someone who platinumed and adored every second of Zero Dawn.
Performance mode is now spot on for me, but Resolution mode still has the really bad saturation issue when panning the camera or just running round.
@thedevilsjester yeah my list of bugs is just as long and yet there's very little overlap between what you're experiencing and what I'm experiencing. So for me, yeah, this is the buggiest game I've played in a while.
Still a blast though, most of the time.
@Chylde_Of_Shade you should curb the aggression, absolutely no need, sceptical or not.
Many thing still unfixed! The metal flowers and Firegleam icons still visible on the map even after destroying them! Invisible walls!
I fully upgraded all the pouches but it didn't unlock the trophy for it! black screen flickering (on PS5) is very present when you move to the big Island!
Also I wish if there was a lock on target system for melee combat!
Nice patch 👌
Very amazing game 👍 Better day by day.
Be sure to play.
@Reeneman I did not know that they brought it up again on Twitter, so there is still hope. Like you said, it may never be "perfect", but they should be able to get it close enough since Zero Dawn was basically flawless on the PS5 in 60 FPS.
Still holding hope for 120hz@40FPS!
The only bug that's really bothering me is the Metal Flower/Firegleam bug, but not because of those - it bothers me because it also seems to affect Greenshine. When I set to track the materials for an upgrade which needs a slab of the stuff, it keeps guiding me to sites I've already taken it from, which means scrambling to some barely accessible location only for it to turn out empty.
I have faith they'll fix it soon enough, it just obviously prevents me from playing around with weapon variety as much as I'd like, as without upgrades a lot of them aren't really viable compared to what I'm already using.
Hopefully Forbidden West will be fully patched by the time I beat Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island DLC and go thru my replay of Horizon: Zero Dawn.
With this patch, I'm having an issue where the camera seems to move erratically and shifts around the screen. So imagine Aloy at the center of the TV, then all of a sudden the camera decides to shift and Aloy is now at the right side of the TV, then suddenly it shifts back to Aloy at the center again. This happens during walking, climbing and combat, and now I can't play this game without having headaches.
Seems like I'm the only one experiencing this so I wonder if this patch inadvertently changed something in the settings? Tried resetting everything to default but it still happens. Camera also seems to pan more slowly than before the patch, as if I'm fighting the camera to pan it around.
The vegetation truly looks better now on PS5 performance for me, the only lingering issue so far is that i still have firegleam and some metal flower icons remaining on the map, even though I've cleared them, next time i guess
I was initially supportive of horizon at the time of ‘Zero Dawn’. However with all the negative word of mouth I’m hearing from the second game I’ve been question wether or not I ( and by extension Sony and Gurreila) have been wasting time with this very series. Sure it’s polished to a tee but the setting and characters are apparently boring as hell. Even Aloy herself feels less like a noble saviour and more of an aloof antisocial vacuum. And then there’s taking into account the maps design is too by the numbers when gaming has provided more varied alternatives both in the past and recently.
I dunno the whole discourse around the game has just given me a crisis of confidence lately.
