Hogwarts Legacy is a staunchly single player focused adventure, but we had quietly hoped it would have a full-blown multiplayer Quidditch minigame to rival the standalone PlayStation 2 title, Quidditch World Cup. While the famous wizarding sport was momentarily teased in the title’s latest gameplay trailer, it seems like any hope of a competitive online mode may be wilting like a poorly nurtured Mandrake.
An FAQ page on the release’s official website stresses: “Hogwarts Legacy is a single player experience and does not have online or co-op gameplay.” That’s pretty definitive.
It’s worth noting that Quidditch may very well still be included from a single player perspective, and in fact we have a strong suspicion that Warner Bros is keeping that underwraps until closer to release. It’s a shame there’ll be no multiplayer mode, though, because we’ve always dreamed of some kind of competitive online Quidditch game. Perhaps that’s an idea for the sequel, eh?

It's a shame that this game is not MMORPG.
There’s always the soon to be renamed Major Quidditch League in real life!
I'm hoping Quidditch is in the game, Quidditch World Cup is one of my all-time favorite games.
Don't really care about online but I do hope there is a Quidditch mini game in Hogwarts Legacy
@Keyblade-Dan Same here.
Great. The less online multiplayer in these types of games the better. Helps keep the trophy challenges away from online, as well as things like loot boxes and Microtransactions at bay.
Really looking forward to this game. Might even get it new to support all those involved due to this decision, and that’s a rarity for me. Love the Potter world.
Good.
Most these devs can't handle more than one game design directions. Most of the time both aspects suffer when they don't focus on one.
Maybe the demand for one will get a standalone game similar to Gwent after witcher 3. But unlike Gwent, I see a Quittich game in the style of FIFA being insanely popular.
Meh, I am kinda tired of online games I have to be honest. There is little to no memories I have from online experiences...so I am happy to play Quidditch (and suck at it) alone lol
Quidditch World Cup is awesome. I wouldn't mind a revival of that one day.
I gotta say I'm beyond excited for this game, but I'm quite cold on quidditch, for some reason (I never found it particularly interesting in the books or movies either... no idea why, tbh) and I couldn't be less interested in any form of online multiplayer, so I'm happy this will be an sp-focused experience.
A separate online quidditch multiplayer focused game would doubtless be a better experience for the quidditch fans anyway, right?
It’s the same pin that NintendoLife had their article about Hogwarts Legacy that push Square is using now.
But anyway, I am more interested in this being single player anyway
Surely there must be some kind of quidditch in the game. I mean, its a massive part of the wizarding world featuring in nearly every book written by "She who must not be named" . If your a HP fan you will get that last bit 😁😁
PSA: Not every game needs multiplayer.
I am completely fine with that. The less multiplayer stuff in the games I like, the better.
Would be cool if it had two player couch for some minigames ala Yakuza games tho.
And I am super thankful for it. Keep toxic competitive multiplayer out of my single player games, please.
Honestly though: is an online multiplayer version of a fictional sport with a deus ex machina built into it so that the main character can be the hero despite spending the entire match chasing a flying egg really going to be any fun?
The only way it would be any good is if there was a Sensible World of Quidditch.
How about you ride a broom around your mom's kitchen floor with your friends and make her life easier?
An online Quidditch multiplayer game would just be designed like a poor mans Rocket League, let's be real here
Don't worry, they're likely building a series here. Eventually we're gonna get some kind of Quidditch live service game.
It doesn’t even really work as a sport. Don’t think it would work as it’s own mode unless they changed the rules.
I read the headline and thought 'Let's hope so.'
@Kidfunkadelic83 @DominusPlatypus @Keyblade-Dan @Necrite Hopefully the developers will include a Quidditch arena to play mini-games inside the main/base game.
I'd also settle for DLC being released later that added the feature more robustly.
@KidBoruto Agreed either way however I get my Quidditch I'm happy 😅
I'm not a fan of the property, but it's really nice to hear fans being so excited for this game. It looks amazing!
I'd say the best way to go would be a full on arcade style Quidditch game. Similar to Rocket League. Take it online and possibly f2p and it could be absolutely huge.
It's pretty obvious that Hogwarts Legacy is going to be a massive hit, so there's no reason it couldn't support spin-offs. I'd like to think that the fans have made the whole property their own thing now and that the author is being sidelined. A huge community based around a multiplayer Quidditch game could be a good addition to that.
