It's always interesting to see what Japanese PlayStation fans are getting through subscription services like PS Plus and PS Now, comparing their game lineups to what's on the menu here in the West. Usually there's not a huge difference, but the Japanese selection for PS Now in March 2022 is worth pointing out.
In Europe and the US, this month's PS Now update includes Shadow Warrior 3 — a brand new release — alongside Crysis Remastered, Relicta, and Chicken Police: Paint It Red. Not the greatest selection, is it?
Meanwhile, Japan gets all of the aforementioned titles, plus two massive Japanese RPGs: Trails of Cold Steel III and Trails of Cold Steel IV. Both games add serious value to the service given just how big they are, and the icing on the cake is that the first two titles in the series, Trails of Cold Steel and Trails of Cold Steel II, were added to PS Now last month in Japan. Yep, the whole Cold Steel saga is up for grabs — four great RPGs that offer over 300 hours of anime-infused entertainment.
Quite the difference, isn't it? Would you like to see games like Cold Steel hit PS Now in the West? Spare a thought for Class VII in the comments section below.

Bruh... That's pretty awesome, has there ever been a JRPG on ps plus or ps now for the west before?
It feels like forever since we had one.
I'd certainly play the crap out of those.
How long do these stay on the service? That's a LOT of JRPG to play.
Not to fussed over older anime/jrpg games getting added as I buy pretty much all of them anyway especially when there's a playstation store sale like the "big in Japan" sale
My backlog of jrpgs is also borderline impossible for me to do it can't help buying them lol this week alone I've bought Monark, atelier Sophie 2, caligula effect 2, Galgun double peace, and Tokyo xanadu, and that's with me also playing horizon forbidden West and fire emblem three houses currently
This is so much better!!! Played 1 and 2 (on PS3 I think) and would love to get 3 and 4.
So few JRPGs come to western services, which is crazy. They take so long to finish I’m sure they’ll account for additional months of sales.
Lucky them. The Cold Steel games are all excellent! They are well worth the price of admission though for anyone who hasn't played them if your looking for a great JRPG.
I'm currently playing through trails 2. Would be nice if we could get them on Now over here so that I don't have to pay for 3 and 4 haha
Much better selection. Great games
Huh, I didn't realise PS Now was notably different in Japan.
Some of the best games I've ever played. Trails and Y's series are just unforgettable treasures. The plot twist at the end of Trails of Cold Steel really setup excitement for the sequel!
I do however think you'd have a heck of a time finishing these before they left the service, though. I'm pretty sure I put like 120-140hrs in to the first Cold Steel game alone. These of course could be staying on the service for long term.
Cracking, I own these all physically. However if I was a Japanese PS now sub rn 👌👌👌
Jeez that’s so much better. I’ve got 1 and 2 in the backlog after I finish Ao but 3 and 4 are still decently expensive.
I bought each of them Day 1 which i generally do for any JRPG im interested in so doesnt really affect me. I really just want the back compatibility
Platted the whole cold steel saga. If you have even a passing interest in jrpgs you must play em.
Japan's PS+ also has better games this month too.
Cold steel 1&2 are currently available on PS now but be warned they're the PS3 versions. Luckily it's much better streaming those games since they're turn based RPGs so a bit of lag should be fine.
@RawnDawn the FF7 remake was on ps plus last year
It’s worth remembering that whilst trails of cold steel four is the most recent game in the series released in the West. There are two more recent untranslated games in Japan with a third coming in September
Man I wish sony pushed more jrpgs a bit more overall all over the world.
@RawnDawn - Tokyo Xanadu eX+ and the Nights of Azure games are on PSNow.
Night and day. I prefer Japan's offerings by a hundred miles.
Do I smell an acquisition of developer Falcom? Seems like Sony is in good relations with them.
Definitely not for me
Don't like those types of games however I will try crysis because I've never played it & it looks quite good
@UltimateOtaku91 Same here lol! My gaming backlog is ridicously large alone on PS4, no way I'll be able to play everything before I expire in 60 years...
