Sony's PlayStation Plus service is continuing its monthly streak of offering decent PS5 and PS4 titles for subscribers to download this April. Replacing March 2022's selection are Hood: Outlaws & Legends (PS5, PS4), Slay the Spire (PS4), and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated (PS4). They're all available to download now through the PS Store, so feel free to boot up your system and redeem them. US users may have to wait a little bit longer as the PS Plus update is rolled out globally.
Despite all three games reviewing well at the time of release and have generally been well regarded since, over 50 per cent of the Push Square community voted it to be "a crap selection" in a recent poll. A tough crowd, it seems. We're also only a few months away from Sony's planned overhaul of the service, which will introduce new tiers like PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium. Hundreds more PS5, PS4 games will then be included in the service.

might try out hood.
Sony this lineup is SAD. Hoping you’re saving the bangers for the service launch in June.
@meistergeister we literally got the happiest thing in existence, SpongeBob
Slay the Spire is supposed to be a top game so that's the highlight for me this month.
I started SpongeBob for a laugh and somehow I almost have 50 golden spatulas 😂
Might give slay the spire a go at some point. No interest in the rest (well, I tried SpongeBob earlier and it was poor).
I downloaded SpongeBob for my 4 year old to play. It soon turned into me “showing “ her how to play it for an hour.
I tried playing Hood today. Could not find a game at all. Slay the Spire looks up my alley tho
@thefourfoldroot it's not that bad. Sure it's an old game with a new lick of paint and comes with the usual problems 3D platformers do, dodgy camera at times, finicky platforming and some dodgy hit boxes. I've played worse, nothing will probably surpass Superman 64 for not just a horrible licenced game but a real stinker of a game in general. SpongeBob is competent in what it does, it's no Mario but nothings ever came close to Mario other than Rare's efforts Banjo/Conker/DK64!
@MightyDemon82
I don’t have a problem with the game mechanics or age, it’s just I feel like I’ve played it a million times before. It feels tired. But mileage will vary. I’d just rather be playing more engrossing games is all. It’s fine for what it is.
Edit: and Astro Bot Rescue Mission surpassed all other platformers, including the Mario games, lol.
Slay the Spire is very fun. It’s maybe more suited to Switch, where it can be played handheld, but it’s a really engaging and approachable roguelike deckbuilder.
Nah. Not this month 🤣
Looking forward to the new ps plus premium thou!
None for me thanks. I have to say, the PS Plus offerings as of late have been pretty weak....
@thefourfoldroot I'm with you there, SpongeBob is just a stop gap after spending 140 hours in HFW before I pick the next game I really want to play and spend lots of time with.
Both Astrobot games are amazing can't believe I forgot about those.
Add to library and never play gang
where you at?
I will try out some of them.i will try slay the spire first.word up son
Its a pass on all 3 for me..the hood game is dead online..i dont like those card games and sponge bob? I have better games to tide me over..
I am in Bronx NYC it's 9:26am I can't download none of the free games... When I look them up they tell me to buy them... How is this possible when last year and year before I could download games at midnight now I have to wait until 9am or 5pm... woe is me.
I'll claim and then never play them. Just like the majority of the PS Plus offerings.
I already claimed SpongeBob, will not be bothering with the other two games.
@Netret0120 I won't even add these to the library, I have 0 interest in any of them.
So after one day, here's a measure of the reception of these games. Over on PSNP, SpongeBob is the 7th most popular game currently, Slay the Spire the 25th, Hood PS5 is the 316th, and Hood PS4 is the 508th.
Suffice to say, people don't seem to like Hood.
