Comparison videos are incredibly popular, showcasing the differences between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S games – among others. Oftentimes, you’ll need to know what you’re looking for: a few pixels here and there, the odd difference in texture detail or framerate (represented, of course, by an on-screen graph).
But this is the kind of comparison we’re truly here for: real-life vs Horizon Forbidden West. Obviously Guerrilla Games’ role-playing release reflects a post-apocalyptic interpretation of America’s West Coast, but this brilliant video pits several iconic landmarks against the Dutch developer’s PlayStation exclusive. It’s a seriously impressive showcase.
What were some of your favourite locations in the game? Let us know in the comments section below.

Woah, who would've known that real-life would have such nice graphics. That's definitely an 8K 120fps picture with RTX on. What console is it on?
Dang, can’t believe Horizon would asset flip so shamelessly
I didn’t know a lot of these places (apart from the obvious ones). Interesting watch.
@HotGoomba real life has pretty good graphics but the gameplay is trash imo. The currency system is terrible, even worse than GT7, the grind is ridiculous.
I was sure you had posted this on here about a month ago. Haha. I even thought I had commented on it.
Finally Platinumed Horizon a few hours ago. Absolutely amazing game. Can’t wait for more.
@HotGoomba PS7
Honestly the crazy amount of details in this game is absurd, You can't really appreciate a game like this blasting through the main quests. Just hanging around with characters or watching the machines interact with the environment is super impressive, Early in the game I hid in-between trees and behind buildings/rocks to avoid being attacked only for said environmental object to be smashed/bent and have me running from danger with my jaw on the floor. Everything you do seems to change/impact the environment which is brilliant.
I take my hat off to everyone at Guerrilla for an amazing game they have created. Loved every second and still going to explore this world for some time yet.
The best looking open world game yet, and a great showcase for the decima engine.
It took me over 140 hours, but I finally platnimed it earlier this week. I loved it and its a game and story that will stay with me.
At last im now in elden ring and getting wowed by a different kind of open world experience!
ergo proxy ripoff 😂
Oftentimes?! 😳 You mean often 😁 what next, horseback riding? 😆 where else would one ride a horse when horse riding? 🙃😆
@Royalblues
I mean there was a time when I believed Metal Gear Solid 2 was the peak. We’d never get any better than that.
Didn’t take long to be proven wrong.
I have only played Forbidden West once, so far.
I recognised a few places as I was going through it. And I was rightly impressed.
But now, having just seen this..
That is just awe-inspiring. This level of attention-to-detail is incredible.
That, and it really shows what the PS5 is capable of, too.
Good quality in the Reality Graphics Mode. Nice RTX effects. Is this running with a dynamic resolution?
Very impressive. I've actually been to most of these places....in GTA.
On TV the other day someone said that looking at real fish while swimming underwater was like HD. With a 4K TV and a PS5 you have better than real life visuals.
I've never been to the United States but this made for a very interesting watch. It really is extraordinary just how far gaming has come. Once upon a time games were just a series of lines and other basic shapes, now we have realistic worlds that look just like the real one.
@SoulChimera
Yeah, there was another article. I started the video and commented on the Hoover Dam before the video showed it. Cool place, Hoover, although quite crowded. Not much to do there except walk it...it's literally just a dam. But the architecture is very art deco. Makes you think of Bioshock.
@SoulChimera Yeah, wasn't this posted on this site before?
Is that left footage the first instance of Sony giving us the first peek at PS6 graphics?
@Royalblues the difference will be the display. I do wonder how this generation's games would look on an older 480p CRT display, but the resolution will be so much higher when that time comes.
@lacerz how do u post pics on this site?
@twztid13
Take out the spaces from the brackets...

@lacerz wow, thanks. I never knew this was possible.
My take-away is that the pictures on the left are missing giant animal robots. The version with giant animal robots is the best version.
