Ubisoft has announced the termination of online services for nearly a hundred of its older games. The publisher is clearly doing a bit of housekeeping, shutting down online multiplayer servers for software that's, let's be honest, well past its sell-by date.
Among the list of 90 games are 40 that appear on PlayStation, whether that's PS4, PS3, or even PS2 in one instance. It's Rainbow Six Lockdown, if you were curious.
Other games in the list include Rayman Origins, Call of Juarez 2 and 3, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2, and a total of 11 Just Dance titles. You can view the full list through here.
If anything, it's pretty surprising that most of the games on the list still had multiplayer available. How many were still playing Haze, I Am Alive, and Avatar online on PS3 in 2022? Probably far from enough to justify the cost of keeping those servers running.
The upshot is that the games can of course still be played offline, so you won't lose access to H.A.W.X. 2 on PS3 completely. Do you have fond memories playing these old Ubi games online? Reminisce in the comments section below.

About time. People should really move on from these ancient games because it doesn't make sense to commit resources to keep them going.
@Apfelschteiner Or let us run our own servers from our consoles.
Has Ubisoft fixed this list? It's been making the rounds and apparently many of the games on here have actually not been shut down.
Edit- it may've been fixed because it no longer lists the Assassin's Creed games as shutdown on PS, as those are still up.
Edit2- Call of Juarez 2 is apparently still online, so this list may still be inaccurate.
Only game on here that is effecting me is Rayman origins and adventures of tin tin, on PlayStation 3 I never finished those games and I forgot what trophies if they were online ones
That list has been around since May 2020. The only change was them trying to illegally close down the assassins Creed games with no warning last week, which they have now resolved. The rest are still active so this article is pointless
Thanks to enterprising tech wizards i'm currently playing Killzone 2 and Resistance online despite Sony turning off the official servers! Rather than shutdown these games they should open them up to community support and let the fans keep them alive if they want to
@huyi Rayman 3 is still up. This list was made in May 2020 but most of the games are P2P so its only community modes they lost like Onlive
@Netbean if you are id hide those games from your psnprofiles.com list as you will get instabanned for obtaining trophies that are now unobtainable. They class it as cheating.
@huyi neither have online trophies its just the onlive content thats now gone like dlc costumes.
@Milktastrophe Push square, it would be great for you could fact check this list by actually trying out every game they list as shut down.
Can't wait for loads of people to kick off about this when it is pretty cool that some of these were still running in the first place.
As some others have said, if a game still has a genuine audience, people will find a way.
@Milktastrophe they closed down ASSas Creed 3, revelations and brotherhood from 17th to 22nd April but they are all live again now after Ubisoft got massive legal backlash for their lack of notice before closing them(which they are legally required to give), especially when on Xbox 360 they had sold dlc content on sale literally a couple of days before closing them rendering the content unaccessible. Call of Juarez games are all P2P you just can't access dlc guns from OnLive anymore.
I don't play Online games especially by Ubisoft.
I only play Imagine games, Petz games, Rabbids games on Wii, Dog Island Wii from Ubisoft.
Oh I forget Avatar servers are dead, they went May 11th 2020 sadly. Thats the only one on this list that is actually gone to my knowledge. Driver is still up.
I think that this story was covered last week by TrueAchievements and TrueTrophies last week?

This just appears to be an update to the server page like a decade late in some cases.
I don't have a problem with them shutting down their own servers for old games, at some point running them no longer makes financial sense. But what I do have a problem with is not giving an alternative or making games unplayable e.g. let us run private servers or peer to peer connections. And games that have online requirements, especially single player games need to be patched.
This is a huge task if it is done well after development, however if this is planned for and included as part of the development process as standard it becomes very easy to patch over.
Game preservation is important.
I Am Alive is pretty good, but I wasn't even aware it had an online component.
Damn guys, you are late. Ubisoft isn't shutting down any server. It's about uplay. They emitted a note about this article and they are going to tell people before shutting down any server.
@Gloamin I still played GRAW2 co-op often on Xbox 😢
@Perturbator had onlive challenges which are now gone but don't affect achievements or trophies
@Husker and you still can, the servers are up.
Rainbow Six Vegas 1&2 where still thriving tbh. Crazy how long they’ve stuck around
@Resi32 Had the feeling it would have to be something like that, but I wasn't aware of it while playing.
Today I learned you could still play games via OnLive until recently.
@Jacko11 they are still thriving, we hold regular boost sessions over on TA.
Yikes.
Glad I decided to go back and grind the Rayman Legends online challenges again. I might never get the platinum trophy if I wait too much longer.
That's impressive. I didn't think any PS3 games were still online. Kudos to Ubi for keeping them going so long.
Rainbow Six Vegas games were awesome. Needs a remaster. Not a fan of their online only focused Rainbow Six title's
Oh no.
Anyways.
Give me NFTs and I'll be super happy.
And just when I got the entire Assassin's Creed series on the ps3! So long UbiPlay rewards..
Haze lived longer than most recent Sony multiplayer titles. Think about that....
@RadioHedgeFund This absolutely. Would have love to see this be implemented in games like Demon's Souls classic, Killzone, Resistance, etc.
RIP to our Haze clan, [SSN]. We played this only last weekend. Tis a sad day. I guess we will be stepping down to Halo earlier than planned.
For the sweet sweet Nectar!
Makes me kinda sad to see Rainbow Six Vegas 2's servers shut down. I spent a ton of time in that game's online.
Good times.
They could have atleast gave some kind of warning. Betweem their overflow of live service games to knee jerk moves like this i just can't stand Ubisoft anymore.
I think Haze was the last Ubisoft game that I've bought
In my opinion they should pass a law, or whatever that mandates companies to release the resources necessary to host the game servers on any PC by players, then shut down the servers.
To those panicking the servers are definitely still up, hosted a successful boosting session on revelations yesterday where all planned achievements were gained. Same with 3 tonight and brotherhood tomorrow.
@Jacko11 Just remaster/remake it and release it again or make a part 3.
i'm sure even ubi soft forgot half these games were still online, reading some of these games on this list , they have to be 15+ years old right? or even close to 20?
rb6 vegas 1 : 2006
rb6 vegas 2: 2008
crazy how long these games stayed online when more recent games have gone offline due to lack of players.
@RadioHedgeFund
I agree, I was on with people playing Far Cry 2 for the Trophies 🏆 we’d had a break for a while to come back to this news of not been able to log on 🤦🏻♂️
