Sonic Origins is just a month and a bit away, and fans of SEGA's mascot are understandably excited to revisit those classic games on modern platforms. We know what the package includes — Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles, and CD, presented in widescreen and playable in two different modes — but we've seen very little of it in action. It's fortunate, then, that Sonic-focused outlet Tails' Channel has secured a little more for us.
The video in the above tweet is from a South Korean presentation about the retro collection. It shows off the game's Anniversary mode, which runs the games in widescreen mode, gives you unlimited lives, and allows use of the Drop Dash — a manoeuvre introduced in Sonic Mania. We see Super Sonic zooming about in the original game, Knuckles and Tails falling into Hidden Palace Zone, and some shots of the game's menus.
It's only a minute long, but fans will no doubt appreciate an extra look. One thing that does stand out by its absence is Sonic 3 & Knuckles, which we've seen very little of, if any, so far. Many believe it's because some of the music isn't present due to ongoing licensing troubles. We hope all the tracks are included — the music is one of the series' real strengths — but we'll just have to wait and see.

Not going to be impressed if the music has been changed, I know the tracks need to be licensed and all but it would definitely affect my enjoyment of the games!
Pre-Ordered it. I just hope it doesn't suck.
I love the original Genesis/Megadrive games.
They've almost certainly not gotten the Michael Jackson music back. Upside is that the replacement music from the PC version actually turned out to be the original tracks after all, so I wouldn't mind hearing them in remastered form actually (just like the Sonic 1 and 2 music was touched up for their mobile versions), but it will be weird at first not hearing Hard Times in Ice Cap Zone, or Stranger in Moscow during the credits.
EDIT: Noticed the menu music is a remix from Sonic Jam on Saturn. Neat callback!
Segaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I already got the sega genesis collection.it got all the sonic games and all the other games like the legendary streets of rage games.word up son
I can’t justify $40 for 4 Genesis games, but Sega is realllly making me want to
Am I missing something here? It looks just exactly as they were when they were sold as stand alone, now with just an HD menu with the word Origins added? I’m just not getting the hype around it especially at the price it’s going for.
With so many retro collections coming out soon, I'll wait for this one to go on sale. Hope it has a full list with a platinum this time, no retro Sonic games have ever had a plat. Let's go!
@MaccaMUFC they’re probably cashing in on the later generations that grew up with the 3D sonics , so i’m in .
Though i do have the sonic mega collection on gamecube
Really excited to play these classic games for the first time (except Sonic CD which I played a bit on PS Now)!
I... don't want it. I am a huge Sonic fan and i bought these games multiple times and played them many times. I don't want to play them again. I want Sonic Mania 2.
I'll wait until there's a significant discount, much more interested in Sonic Frontier.
@Orpheus79V I’m pretty sure they do have the MJ music, it’s just that you’ll have to pay for that music DLC if you want it. I’m guessing that’s how they’ll pay the royalties for the music. For new fans that don’t care/never played the original, they can sell the game without the music to avoid paying the royalties.
