Roughly 18 months after its original announcement at The Game Awards 2020, this week looks set to be when we next see PlayStation 5 horror game The Callisto Protocol. Also coming to other platforms, it's the next title from Dead Space creator Glen Schofield. Over the weekend he tweeted there'll be some news on the game this week, so horror fans should keep their eyes peeled. "Until then, here’s a closeup of one of the creatures from our world class character team. They’re incredible," he said.
Whether the update is a substantial one remains to be seen, but if it proves to be noteworthy instead of a simple piece of concept art or something, we'll bring you the news here on the site. As a reminder, this is the horror game set in the PUBG universe. It's currently slated for release this year, but a delay would hardly come as a surprise. What do you hope to see? I was hooked, right from the point I saw Dead Space, all the way up till I read PUBG. Hopes can sometimes be very short and cruel.
Blows my mind this is in the pubg universe.
Games has so much potential…can’t lie that the mention of pubg is a little worrying.
The PUBG idea is itself is awesome and always has been. Its gameplay is questionable, but having horror meet that kinda world doesn't seem like a deal-breaker to me
It’s a horror game not a battle royale, don’t worry about the whole PUBG thing
One of my most anticipated games.
@Jackpaza0508 yeah probably right. My initial thought went to cross fire X
@Eldritch The whole "Set in the pubg universe" is just there and not really going to affect the game cause it's set like hundreds of years later.
Looking forward to a new horror game by Schofield. Hoping it's a spiritual successor to the first Dead Space, as that the best one, imo.
PUBG, now I remember why I was wanting to dismiss this title.
Because honestly, why bother to connect such things if they are going to have zero material effect on each other?.
I mean, PUBG is set on earth and the very very "short" story it had was just normal stuff, like cartel wars in the Miramar map. This being set on the PUBG universe may mean nothing at all, you may as well say that this is set on our universe. Maybe it has a very small easter egg or something. We shall see.
So excited for this.
I've been totally excited for this since it was announced. Definitely my most anticipated game for '22!
@Nepp67 I'm not saying you're wrong. In fact I hope you're correct. One of the other commenters said similar, adding "you may as well say it's set on this universe". Well why didn't they? There has to be a reason they've chosen not to set it in our universe. And that's what worries me. If they want to include historical canon into the game. Or worse, use it as a way to lay the story for a more futuristic PUBG.
Either way I'm rooting for your optimism and not my cynicism.

Well now you don't have to worry and neither do I
@Nepp67 Excellent. Thanks for the info. I guess I wasn't the only one worried. Can breath a sigh of relief now. 😂
