Sony’s Bend Studio has a long history with handhelds, having been one of the flag bearers for both the PSP and PS Vita generations, before transitioning back to consoles with Days Gone. There’s little surprise, then, that it’s gone the extra mile to verify Deacon St John’s debut for the Steam Deck, meaning that it’s been officially reviewed by Valve and confirmed to run great on the portable PC.
While the game already ran on the handheld, this just means that it’ll be attributed a green tick in Steam’s catalogue, potentially raising its profile to those who own a Steam Deck. It’s a little thing in essence, but it’s a timely reminder that you can explore the broken road while you’re out and about on the, er, broken road. Neat!

Steam Deck is looking more and more appealing to me.
I'll wait and see if/how the new PS Plus runs on it, then have a think about getting one.
Such an underrated game. Really wanted a sequel.
Awesome game for a big screen tv, don't get why one would want to play it on a small screen.
Have tried Horizon ZD on Steam Deck which is great. The deck is a good way to play big games on the go. I do wish there was cross platform compatibility though. I loved the The Witcher 3 and Hades on Switch as I could swap over to my PC and play there.
@Tielo it’s actually the last game I did via Remote Play? Something specific about that game where I couldn’t pick out a good headshot from range for the life of me. Something about my eyesight too, but nevermind that
Been interested in the deck but have heard multiple accounts of the battery being really terrible, kind of defeating the purpose of a portable machine. Hoping later iterations will improve on that.
give us a sequel sony PLEASE!
It is everything I imagined a VITA2 would have been. Happy to support Sony on Steam also.
They are behind on these. Resident Evil 3 Remake is listed as "not supported" and I yet to find an issue while playing.
At this rate my 300+ Steam Library is the largest "Launch Games lineup" in handheld history... and nowhere near done testing 😅
Zero Dawn, AceCombat 7, Devil May Cry 5, Dirt 2.0, F1 2021, Scarlet Nexus, Tales of Arise, Elden Ring, Dark Souls 3, God of War, Sekiro, CHORUS... they are all working on "VITA2"
Awesome to see still fan support for Days Gone. I will never stop singing its praises whenever it is mentioned, it is so much fun and has great character performances, not to mention the unforgettable horde encounters and the beautiful open world
@Rudy_Manchego
You can continue on PC... Steam cloud just brings over your save. That is how I play F1-2021. And you only need to buy the game once.
Unless you mean Cross-Save with PS4/PS5/XSX. Yeah that would be Amazing!
Pass. Handhelds are too weak. Even strong ones like this
Where do people really be going to always need a handheld? The only thing I can think of is the airport.
Hell's ya. Great, if flawed, game. Been building up my Steam library a little waiting for my turn in line for the Steamdeck purchase to happen. Q2 is almost up fellas! Call me!!
@Agramonte I'd give your comment more likes if I could. Steamdeck totally reminds me of the Vita. Can't wait for mine and playing some Robo-dinosaur hunting on my lunch break.
@Krysus
If you are a VITA fan, there is no doubt you will find the investment worth it.
I would borrow an HP Spectre x360 from the office so I could play my Steam games at the Hotel on work trips. Taking my SD is 100X easier and 1/3 the price.
And via updates we got FSR upscaling, better fan curve and you can now set Performance settings by individual game profiles.
So you did wait a bit longer, but you will have a nicer experience when you get it than Q1/Q2 did. Valve is updating the SteamOS constantly.
@pharos_haven I have preordered a Steam Deck and do zero travel other than to work.
I want an adult handheld, so I can accompany the good lady in the TV lounge and still continue gaming 😁
It does sound awesome but I really would like to wait for the next iteration, problem is it's still awful expensive for something that is already gonna struggle for some games, next gen should easily run everything with much more reliability, the only question is when the 2 is coming, 1-2 years I'll wait, 5 years I'll probably buy the 1
I'd be more excited about the Steam Deck if I knew for sure it supported PS Remote Play. It doesn't seem to, though it's hard to get a clear answer.
I don't have a ton of Steam games, but I've got enough to give me some options if I had one...but I might just remote play my PS5 or even PS4 more often than not.
@Agramonte Yeah cross save with PS4/5 would be my dream. I have Day's Gone for PS4 but would prob buy again if it had cross save coz I can play on the go and then boot up the big screen.
@pharos_haven You need to experience the joys of being super comfortable in bed playing a video game. That’s where my switch got the most use…on those cold lonely nights…
@Rudy_Manchego if they go the Xbox rout and plan to ultimately put their subscription service everywhere then there’s no way it won’t support cross save. Can you imagine the backlash if it didn’t? Be hard to defend that oversight
I’ve never used psnow on the pc but believe it was supported. Which make me think the new premium plus tiers will be too…just maybe rebranded. Be interesting to see how they’re priced as it currently takes into account online play paywall.
@Bleachedsmiles Weirdly, not all of Xbox titles support cross save across Console, Cloud and PC. Some do but not all of them (or at least they didn't last year when I tried). As an example, I started Outer Worlds on Console, had played in the cloud but it didn't work with the PC version from the Gamepass store.
I personally think Cross save is a win win for everyone. Take Hades for example, i bought it on PC but bought the Switch copy so i could play on the go. A lot of gamers have more than one device - for example, I know some friends who are divorced and the mum has a PS4 and the Dad an xbox. I could see them buying to copies of a game if the cross save worked! It's a big thing in fortnight I think?
@Bleachedsmiles I guess I'm usually too busy to just be in bed for games. It's either sleep or "other things"
@oldpeculiar Well I live by myself so I'm not sharing my tv with anyone
The deck is a good way to play games on the go, but also good is my iPad via remote play. Pass
