Update #2: It's been pointed out that the Worms World Party product description has been copied exactly from the Steam version of Worms World Party Remastered, suggesting online multiplayer may not actually be on the cards at all.
Update #1: If you’re curious what Worms World Party looks like on PS5 and PS4, then here are a bunch of screenshots scraped from the PS Store. Unsurprisingly, given the game’s graphical style, it doesn’t benefit massively from the enhanced hardware. Still, it looks pretty sharp in our opinion.
Original Story: Worms World Party is one of several PS1 releases that will be enjoying a renaissance as one of All PS Plus Games included with the PS Plus Premium tier. And with the service set to launch in Asia in a matter of days, more details are beginning to emerge about the conversion. As reported earlier, there’ll be a number of graphical filters available for the retro titles, including a classic CRT look, but in the case of Team 17’s party game it also appears there’ll be online multiplayer.
Here’s what the PS Store description says: “Access the fantastic ‘Wormpot’ which gives you over 1,000 different game styles. All modes are available offline, online, or a mixture of both!” Now it’s unclear whether Sony is potentially referring to a feature like Share Play here, but it seems to be suggesting that full online multiplayer functionality has been added, which is impressive. This kind of support could breathe infinite new life into a number of retro titles.
We’re obviously still waiting for more information, and will shoot off an email to Sony and Team 17 to try and get clarification, but the description here is pretty clear: online multiplayer appears to be in.

Well that’s a great bonus! I have really fond memories of playing Worms Armageddon at my uncle’s house when I was a kid so maybe we’ll play a few games for old times’ sake.
Is the CRT look basically before TV were HDTV like today? It's the fat backed TVs.
@Snake_V5 Yup!
so far, this new ps plus is looking real good with trophies and online connectivity and multiplayer for ps1 games. I wasnt interested at all at the beginning but now it looks like Sony will indeed take my money
It'll be interesting to see in what form the online takes. NSO has a situation where you can play NES, SNES, N64 and Genesis games online but it's only with people on your friend list which was rather disappointing.
Great game but christ it doesn't need online trophies.
Makes me wonder if it's possible for other ps1 games to recieve the online treatment. Maybe even PS2 games? Imagine playing War of the Monster or Tekken 3 online lol that would be awesome.
Then again, it could be like Nintendo Switch Online, where the classics can be played with internet but can only let you connect with friends. Who knows really? Guess we have to wait and see.
First Trophies and now Online. If all this stuff is true I can't believe Sony didn't include info like this in their PSPlus info last week. Surely that would be something you would like to promote.
@TheIronChimp
I suspect, as it’s down to the devs to add these things, examples would be few and far between. Much better to have the positive surprises than vastly more disappointments should players start to expect it from these emulated games.
If Tekken 2 has both trophies and online support, I'm in on day one
CRASH BASH ONLINE MULTIPLAYER ?????
Oof I would not be putting out that artwork with that Japanese worm anymore! In fact I remember some of the voice packs you used to be able to pick, I jut wouldn't put out old Worms games anymore.
But the online in older titles is cool and a nice way to keep them alive.
Just looking on the Malaysian PSN storefront and it appears that the description mentions online but its the product description logos say local multiplayer, remote play???
@thefourfoldroot1 I get that but a brief line in the info stating that select titles will have trophy support or online support surely could have helped them.
@Snake_V5 makes me feel really old to hear someone not know know exactly what a CRT tv is 😂😂. I used to game on a 15"JVC with a built it video player 🤣🤣
I now have a LG C1. Oh how times have changed 🤣
@Kidfunkadelic83 I did know what a CRT TV was, I just wasn't 100% certain when it applied to the filter option to the PS1 games. I just wanted to make sure what I said was correct.
Back in the day on PS2 I used to do gaming on a 14 inch CRT TV.
