Simulation titles like SnowRunner certainly aren't for everyone, but we're big fans of these oddly satisfying games. This one in particular is all about driving large haulage vehicles through extreme terrain and conditions, and while in some ways it's a chore, it can be a deeply compelling experience. Today, players will get to push these trucks and cars to their limits in new levels of fidelity, as Focus Entertainment brings the title to PS5.
The native, current-gen version of SnowRunner benefits from 4K resolution, a smooth 60 frames-per-second, improved depth of field, and speedier loading times. There's no mention of the DualSense and its bells and whistles, but this seems like the perfect game to take advantage of the fancy pad, so hopefully that's included too. The best bit is that owners of the PS4 game can upgrade to the PS5 version for free, and save data will transfer over. You can also claim the Anniversary DLC at no cost, giving you access to a pair of additional trucks.
It also happens to launch right alongside Season 7: Compete & Conquer. Available as standalone DLC or as part of the Year 2 Pass, it introduces racing elements to SnowRunner. A map based on Tennessee and two new vehicles are added, and you can compete on dirt and road circuits as well as a rough off-road course. There are time trial challenges, or you can race friends online.

This is one of the most amazing driving puzzle games ever made, if you haven't played it you really should.
WARNING: Don't import your PS4 save if you want to earn any trophies on PS5, it locks them out even if you start a New Game without using the said save.
@Anke Played MudRunner on PS3. Is this just the same thing, or in any way different ?
Nice, picked this up a while back and still to play it… I’ll enjoy the boost!
Played about 20 minutes of the ps5 version this arvo. Zero integration with the haptic feedback on the controller. The game would have been perfect for the tech in the triggers. The game looks nice and seems to run at 60fps which is a good thing. Was expecting a little more though. But i'll take it!
There was supposed to be haptic feedback. It’s even mentioned in the trailer. Wow total lie, unless there’s an error with the version released.
Been eyeing this for a while but its not really coming down in price like I hoped it would. Will have to wait longer I guess
@GoodGame "Played MudRunner on PS3. Is this just the same thing, or in any way different ?"
Yes, its snow instead of mud. Sorry i had to 😁
These games do look interesting tho. Guess they are very physics based?
@GoodGame I'd say in a lot of ways it's more expanded to Mudrunner but the basic concept is the same. The progression feels a lot more natural too, you start small but slowly build up a garage of heavy duty vehicles for every situation. I'd say Snow runner is an improvement over Mudrunner in nearly every way.
Anyways, I'm going to be happy to finally play this in 4K 60 FPS.
@GoodGame I haven't played MudRunner but I think it is pretty much the same.
Thanks for the replies. Found the physical PS5 one for £29. Might give it a go.
@GoodGame You can pick up a PS4 copy for around £20 and grab the free upgrade.
Also yeah WTH is going on with the haptic feedback... there isn't any! Must be a bug.
Assuming this comes with the Mr. Plow DLC?
This is one of those games I'm waiting to see if it comes to Plus because I'm not convinced if I would like it but would like to try it.
@Anke does it auto pop ps5 trophies if you platted the PS4 version? Sorry if that’s a dumb question, I’m currently sitting in A&E after hitting the old thumb with a hammer, it popped 🤢
@Mikey856 oooh nasty, you need thumbs to play! Hope all is ok and they still work
Nope, no auto-pop. Well I did have a couple pop later on after I finally reset my data (see opening comment) but you will have to earn them all again.
@Anke thanks man appreciate that and yeah I’m so close to GT7 plat aswell
