This one's been a long time coming, hasn't it? Roller Champions is Ubisoft's free-to-play sports hybrid that sees two teams of three compete in a combo of rollerskating and basketball. We had a pretty good time with the beta last year, so we're glad the game finally has a confirmed release date. Better yet, it's just around the corner.
The game finally releases on PS4 next week, on 25th May 2022. It'll also be playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility, of course. To celebrate the news, Ubisoft has released the above cinematic trailer to get you in the mood.
Roller Champions looks like it'll tread similar ground to Rocket League, in that it's an accessible, arcadey sports title you can hop into for a few rounds. However, it appears to have a little more in the way of progression. As you play matches, your fame will grow, earning you more fans and gaining access to bigger and better stadiums, new gear, and all that good stuff. It'll also feature cross-play and cross-progression, so you can play with anyone on any system, and carry your profile to other devices.
