Just give me Final Fantasy XVI. As long as that one thing shows up, I'll be happy.
Always here for more PSVR2 news and trailers!
Now I’m disappointed. Hopefully the Xbox showcase will show a lot of multiplats.
So no First Party Games?
Lovely.
I'm not getting my hopes up, but would love if one of those "third party partners" was Square-Enix with some FF news.
And if not, PSVR2 news is always exciting.
11pm, that's later than usual but I'll still watch it anyway.
My prediction was dead on then. I've achieved Jeff Grubb level of leaking credibility.

Keeping expectations low, as doesn’t mention
First part studios ie GOW etc.
Thinking some PSVR2 stuff and few third party announcements, like they have said.
Always used to love the big live shows a few years ago, when Sony would surprise at the end with a big first party studio game. ie Uncharted 4 etc.
Those were the great live audience show days.
Finally! PSVR2!
@Milktastrophe Time to create a Twitter account! 👀
No mention of first party PS5 games which is odd I'd have expected God of War Ragnarok by now
I'd want more from this but if we could just get anything about FF16 from it that's enough for me
Sounds a bit silly but part of me is a little disappointed it’s third party games and PSVR2. I’d rather have a proper release date for God of War and get an idea of what the other studios are working on. God I miss E3.
Its like Sony has nothing to show from first party.
Good to know not to expect any 1st party big game news/reveals this time around. Maybe they're showing the PSVR stuff now ahead of the bulk of the summer showcases for a "bigger" showcase sometime later.... I can hope
If not now when on earth is God of War getting a release date?
Absolute rock bottom expectations for this one.
@Shepherd_Tallon Whenever you post something before me, there's nothing left for me to say, lol. I would have liked to see something from 1st party as well but FF XVI and PSVR2 will do, let's gooo.
If they dont show GoW its kinda obvious its delayed to 2023 since they wont have another Event till September. Also expect 15 Minutes of CoD MWII since they have the marketing rights again haha
30 minutes of Deathloop DLC here we go!
Same day as the nba Finals 🏀 🏆🤔 hmm interesting.cant wait for the games to be shown.word up son
Well, I will not watch the Direct if just only about PSVR2 games.
I will check from play-asia for surprising upcoming games.
11pm UK Sony why do you do this to Europe and UK.
Will not be watching live if you can’t stream at a decent time of day.
At least Nintendo and Xbox pick good times all round.
So obviously not doing a big showcase in June then. Seems a bit low key for first look at PSVR 2 as well. Not sure why its on so late in the UK.
@dschons Great minds, my friend. 😂
@Daveuppercut
Me thinks 2023.
Nintendo have done it with BOTW2
Xbox with Starfield.
Also gives console user base time to build.
A fantastic way to celebrate the Queen's jubilee. Well done Sony!
Interesting.
Sony don't do big showcases any more but I think I prefer it this way, more of a steady drop of info and footage over the course of the year rather than one big event. I suspect I'm in the minority though.
😉
They can do a dedicated God of War one at any time, which is probably the plan.
@Col_McCafferty They do still do big presentations and will probably do one in September. People need to let go of the traditional E3 timeframe I think — especially when it comes to PlayStation news anyway.
Keep your expectations low
Keep your expectations low
Keep your expectations low
Keep your expectations low
This sucks Sony really gonna wait until September to have a real showcase god I hate state of play.
PSVR2 is the most exciting thing in gaming at the moment. Forget about ways to save money (subscriptions) just give us more info on these advances please!
@RBMango Same!
VR2 and third party.....meh
Wonder if Sony are playing it cool, to see what Xbox announce in their June showcase.
See if Forza Motor sports and Hellblade 2
Drop this year.
If they do then follow up with Redfall and of course Starfield in spring 2023 that is some good competition for a change for Sony.
Low you expectations boy and you will never be disappointed
Great. State of play is not a games show in the traditional sense, so hopefully people wont get too mad with unrealistic expectations!
Whilst I have a huge curiosity for vr2, I cant play vr, so this is pure, acedemic interest.
However, announcements from 3rd parties do excite me.
Im getting snippets of hints that suggest to me that we will see
Ff16 at last and with a release date soon. Hope that comes true!
@Dezzy70 It's really not that complicated. They have a plan and they stick to it.
@IonMagi I wouldn’t say that. The last one said it would focus on 3rd party Japanese games, and that same SoP announced the Returnal 2.0 update. Keep your expectations low, but I wouldn’t say that’s a given.
Wow... the event hasn't even happened yet and people are already somehow disappointed... im officially convinced that nothing makes you guys happy...
Just because they aren't showing first party games, doesn't mean God of War is delayed. It's been quite common for them to do single state of plays dedicated to first party games, they will most likely do one for GOW.
ALSO... as others have said, Sony has transitioned from doing their BIG showcases in the summer/E3 time to End of August/September...
It's time a lot of people on this site learn that just because YOU want them to give you everything right now doesn't mean they have to.
Grow up.
Personally I reckon there will be a first party sop or showcase around august/September time. Just as the weather starts to get cooler and autumn sets in(uk anyway).
God of war probs drop 1 month later, factions 2 and remake just before Xmas, infamous reboot reveal perhaps? rounded off with a massive "you're fired" to kaz, the gran turismo dev. For royally ruining gt7. It's a gran turismo in name but the game has become something else. I won't start going on about its faults as they're is a lot. But yesterday's update has me turned away for good. All this in the pursuit of way over priced mtx.
Anyway, I have zero expectations for this sop.
Getting so tired of seeing these State of Plays and focus of 3rd Party or Indy. Getting out front to set expectations doesn’t excuse the fact that it’s becoming sickeningly rare for them to showcase the first parties. That’s what people want to see. Beyond GOW and a few Marvel games due in 2023/2024, we have virtually no confirmations of anything from any first party studios. Where’s the roadmap? What’s up with all these studios they bought? I’m bracing myself for the inevitable reveal of a near pure GAAS lineup. That’s NOT what made Sony the top system last gen. All that good will they built is literally being pissed away in the wind. Looking so forward to another State of Play that shows games largely playable on Xbox.
Looks like no showcase till September then. Give me FF16 and i'll be happy and im excited to see what VR2 has to offer
Excitement level set to 5 so that I'm unlikely to be disappointed. I'll happily raise that higher nearer the time if it looks like there might be some really good stuff being revealed.
@Audio-Bandit If GoW issnt shown till September then its not coming out this year lol
Not interested in VR as I suffer from motion sickness and have found every VR headset I tried unusable because of it. But hoping for some 3rd party announcements. I miss E3
Last year, every single one of these state of plays were abysmal and beyond disappointing. I expect nothing more than the same, coupled with an even more tone deaf promotion of live service garbage.
@get2sammyb
Perhaps they do and all of the manufacturers just do what they do regardless of what each other do.
Then again Sony are only doing all this PS PLUS extra stuff because Xbox kicked it all of with game pass, that is so obvious.
Sony don’t spend or do unless they have to, they have that approach in the tv market as well.
Final Fantasy 16 is third party. Please.
I’m hoping for Stray to shadow drop.
Zero interest in VR, so my expectations are a 5/10 tier showcase. It’s moving day for me, so I’ll be looking forward to Pushsquare giving me all the details.
First week in June 3rd party SoP
Later in June GoW Ragnarok SoP
September PS5 showcase.
Think that's the roadmap to expect now.
I'm really beginning to loathe this website.
It’s actually more than I expected. That means there’s going to be another State of Play about GOWR and then a bigger show in September.
@Enuo I'm with you. The comments are SO negative all the time.
You would think that people would be happy we are getting announcements but nope, gotta be mad because it's 3rd party.
We know from the past 2 years Sony will do a first party playstation showcase. They aren't going to mess with that and put first party games in a quick 30 min state of play.
People just need to CALM DOWN
PSVR2? Yes please!
@torne I want them to announce 3 games for every one of their PS Studios next Thursday and then have them all release the next day and then release no more games until the PS6.
I want instant gratification and I want it yesterday.
#SonyE3?
No big June or July show after all. That's a downer. But I'm also surprised they're pushing so hard on PSVR2. Maybe it really will be out this year and that's the big push for the year. I figured with the chip shortage, they'd hold off on that for now.
@torne @get2sammyb They did one big September showcase during a console launch. Last year wasn't a "big" showcase by any stretch. What makes you guys so convinced they're going to do one this September? I thought the pattern now was they pretty much announce nothing other than PR releases and twitter drops?
@Ken_Kaniff You act like Destiny Season 36 and Sony's CARS (exclusively in theaters) aren't worth the price of the console!
@IonMagi Who needs first party game announcements when you have new movies based on them and promises of F2P looter shooters and mobile match-3 games for years!? PS5 is a great way to stream all your favorite shows and films, and look stylish while doing it with it's modern white LED accenting the curves of the side panels. Eat that, Roku!
I'm excited to finally see some PSVR2 and the Third Party Stuff could be interesting whether it's Final Fantasy, Little Devil Inside, Stray or something we haven't heard from in a while or seen yet. So it's definitely something to look forward too.
People just need to be patient when it comes to the first party games. When they have stuff ready to show they will show it. If they showed something for a game and it was too soon or they rush it to release then the same people will complain that they should have waited to show the game.
Just be patient and wait to see the First Party games because we know they won't disappoint(God of War, Last of Us, Astro Bot, some surprises, etc).
@somnambulance Stray releasing on July 19.
https://mobile.twitter.com/PlaystationSize/status/1529847476856971264?s=20&t=0jCHWGhnzCLUBdrmfM5Vrw
@Enigk don't forget, they also can't have anything that caters to anyone else's tastes. Only my specific taste in games can be announced. If they announce a single thing I don't like I'm never buying a Sony product again.
@NEStalgia you are right, announcing both Spiderman 2, and Wolverine, showing God of war, having the first reveal trailer for Alan wake remastered, giving release dates for Gran tourism, trailers for guardians of the galaxy, among other things was definitely not a big showcase... 🙄
I see your sense of entitlement is strong...
@Anti-Matter My Little Pony is out today. I think that sounds like a game you'd like.
@IonMagi who are you asking? Everyone else is reading what you're reading...
Dead or Alive Xtreme 5 with vr support.
My serious answer would be any first party IP getting a VR game, maybe Killzone VR (first thing I can think off)
@Dezzy70
Unfortunately I think that could be right.
@torne
It’s alright. I feel as if Push is an Elden Ring catacomb sometimes.
😅☠️👽👹 happy gaming 😅
Oh I’d like an update on project eve and Stray. I enjoyed those September events.
Eh, I don’t care much for VR but I’ll still give it a watch to see if there are any good third-party reveals.
@JJ2 hahaha I can see why you would think that 🤣
So this is pretty much confirmation that there's no showcase in June and the next one is likely in September. Seems like perhaps what we get in June is we have this State of Play that's focused on 3rd party games and PSVR2, then there'll be some 1st party announcements at Summer Game Fest and finish off with a GoW Ragnarok State of Play after everyone's done their events (e.g. June 23rd).
Yeesh a lot of dissatisfaction in the air! I'm personally still interested to see the third party stuff. Maybe FF16 finally? Or FF7R Part 2? Atlus!? Who knows!?
So no GoW news yet.
I wonder if they’ll still do something else in June. Has Keighley announced which publishers are at his thing?
If they show FF16 I’ll be happy. Either way I’m interested but most likely won’t be able to watch it live this time (it’s literally the one day in June I can’t do it)
This state of play will be amazing it's going to be the best state of play ever. Sony never does anything wrong or lets anyone down every decision they make is the right decision. The Last of Us Remake was a good idea, the God of War and Horizon TV shows are a good idea, they're all good ideas don't let anyone tell you otherwise if they do they're just a hater or a troll. No criticism of Sony or Playstation allowed
No first party games is disappointing but still better than nothing and I'm looking forward to it.
As for my expectations, well I'm hoping for some jrpg release date announcements, for games like valkyrie elysium, final fantasy 16, new star ocean and granblue fantasy relink
@Voltan And we were just saying yesterday that it would be Thursday because it's the only day you can't watch 😂
Hoped for more but I’ll be looking forward to see what PSVR2 games they show
My moneys on some Silent Hill news. Thats an exciting bit of 3rd party news to reveal (which fits their advert very well).
Keeping expectations low. Unfortunately VR/1st person viewpoint stuff traditionally can give me headaches so unlikely to invest in one.😕
Insofar as God of War goes,people need to chill a bit. They're well aware expectations are going to very high,& undoubtedly they want to avoid early leaks.
Aside from the publishing side of things,Sony will want ps5 stock reserves to push the new gen version as much as possible.
@Tchunga I think, to be fair, where some people get frustrated with their fellow commenters is with double standards or unconstructive criticism, especially when it's based on assumptions.
Constructive criticism regarding both facts and acknowledged speculation is of course always appreciated by most folk.
@Shepherd_Tallon Yup, we basically willed this into existence.
Btw, since it is PSVR2 - do we get a release window for that, maybe?
@Voltan I wasn't expecting a release date but I'd love to see one.
Alas, I'd be surprised if they gave us one tomorrow. Did they say already that it wouldn't be out in 2022? Or am I imagining that?
Playstation Supremacy is over baby.
PSVR2... waste of time... No expectations for that.
@Dezzy70
Completely disagree with you. PSnow was out long before gamespass and was always going to be updated to include PS5 titles once there was an install base, regardless of what GP is doing.
Its only in the heads of armchair analysts like yourself that these companies feel 'pressured' into responding to the competition. In reality, Sony, like Nintendo, dont gaf about the whittering noises in the sewer pipes of the net, as it simply doent reflect the views of the overwhelming majority of their customer base.
They continue to make the best games available, they are more profitable than ever before and can sell as many machines as they can manufacture. They are not afraid to try new ideas like haptics, tempest and non pc standard chips, and they genuinely push boundaries with products like vr2. They are brilliantly positioned to exploit the merging of all media which is happening everywhere, and they have made sound investments to pursue rising and profitable businesses which they dont already have a significant presence in.
Like Nintendo before them, they are doing their own thing and dont need to dance to anyone elses tune.
I think you need to crawl out of your echo chamber and relise the world is not as its portrayed on sites like this or on redditt.
Nobody cares what peoole like us think, and over estimating the importance of the bickering your web service serves up to you is a mistake most make, Sony wisely ignore most of it.
FINALLY...cant wait for some PSVR2 goodness
@Titntin
Maybe they do maybe they don’t.
I sure they must watch each other a little along of course with market trends and future strategy plans.
Does any know if these have the built in earbuds like the PSVR v2?
Looking forward to the PSVR2 games. And ideally confirmation that PSVR1 games work on it.
@torne
Trash show. 0 out of 10. Me no watchin'
@Dezzy70
Im not suggesting they are unaware, but when your one of the dominent forces in your market, you dont copy the stratagey of those you have roundly beaten in all the previous rounds!
Its Microsoft who need to buy customers by spending billions and never making a profit. Sony games has never been more proffitable.
@Shepherd_Tallon The only thing they actually did say "not this year" about, that I can think of, is HBO's The Last Of Us
There was nothing about PSVR2 in that regard, as far as I know.
@Titntin brilliantly stated
@RevGaming yea I hear that everyone is going to walk away disappointed and probably be forced to toss their ps5 out the window
Really excited to see what games are coming to psvr2, I hope they show what's possible with all the new tech and the power of the ps5.
As for the rest, hopefully some decent games from 3rd party developers and a GOW SOP at the end of June.
@NEStalgia Haha I know right. I guess I'm being selfish. I should be more thankful for the table scraps were receiving.
HYYYYYPE! Not getting my hopes up for FF16 since it may be in the SquareEnix FF broadcasts, but can't wait to see more PSVR2 stuff!
Very excited for this, especially the PSVR2 news and fingers crossed for a release date for Stray
Bummer, no first party games, just more small potatoes.
Here's hoping the PSVR2 part will provide something worth watching.
@WadeIsInsane yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuppp...
Nobody is ever happy because Sony didn't show EXACTLY what they expected them to.
SPOILER ALERT: Sony is a business, they are going to do what is best for business. If they want to do a state of play focused on 3rd party fine by me, just means when we get a little later down the road and they want to focus on exclusive first party stuff, it hasn't been spoiled or isn't a repeat of a trailer we've seen 500 times... (looking at you deathloop)
@Voltan You know what I'm thinking of?
Breath of the Wild II was confirmed to not be releasing this year. I was relieved at the time thinking, great, because PSVR2 is probably coming for Christmas. Combine that with Hogwarts, GoW, and probably a PSVR2 game... It's already too much for the end of the year for me 😅
Of course I could be completely wrong and it will just be Hogwarts for the final quarter of 2022.
They’re just trying to get ahead of Microsoft trying to show a ton of third party content and taking credit like usual
And now I am here hoping for PSVR2 news about Resident Evil 7 and Village (hopefully including the DLC for that last one) and maybe Gran Turismo 7, and some news regarding Astro Bot and a sequel to blood and truth. The resident evil PS5 versions of 2 and 3 (remakes) having been confirmed for 2022, I hope Capcom's and Sony plan makes sense for that, and that it would land pretty much at the same time as the headset itself for 7 and 8.
@get2sammyb @ShogunRok I read the blog post 3 times looking for words like "excluding" or "focusing" but didn't see a single word that says NO FIRST PARTY GAMES so while I do expect the bulk of the show to be 3rd party and PSVR2 I also expect the last 2:30 to be a GoW'R trailer with a date at the end. How many PS articles ave you done lately saying GoWR in 2022? This SoP is in June, don't see how they can exclude it.
I do see how they can want to keep expectations low for the first 28 minutes so people don't turn it off, but it has to end well, and FFXVI or GoWR are the only way that happens, and I'm expecting FFXVI to be the open, GoWR the closer, whatever in between.
Won't sweat it if I'm wrong, but that's how I see it playing out, and no reading between the lines tells me otherwise. Sony needs some good will, under promise and over deliver does that.
I’m personally hoping for new information on either Final Fantasy XVI, God of War: Ragnarok, Star Ocean: The Divine Force, or even the next part of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Announcements or new information on any of those games would be super exciting for me!
I’m interested to see what they have in store for PSVR2 as well. I honestly have no idea what they might have in store for that, but it sounds exciting!
Dragon's Dogma 2 for sure
@torne
NO I WON'T CALM DOWN. DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!!!
JK
@IonMagi oh god, here you are, negative nelly Strikes again
@RevGaming CALM DOWN!!!
If you're not interested in upcoming third party games or PSVR, then don't watch. It's that simple.
For those that are, I hope you enjoy it.
👍
@WaveBoy I am 99% certain that you can play RE8 in VR on PC.
@torne
NOOOOOO.
I MUST HAVE...
BOOOOOOOOOOI
i'll take any of the following please:
Silent Hills
Half-Life: Alyx
Bloodborne remaster
Stray release date
Humanity release date
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 release window
Dragon's Dogma 2
Nier Collection on PS5
Fumito Ueda's next project
Jonathan Blow's next project
Alien: Isolation studio’s next project
@torne You're right, I did forget about the Spiderman 2 and Wolverine reveals. I remember them on and off, but since we hear almost nothing about them since then, they're not necessarily games I'm personally excited for, and the latter one is likely years away still, I do tend to forget about that. More than anything though it highlights the awful delivery method of these SoP productions. I watched it live on the chat here and then again in full at night, and I don't even remember watching it or what was in it. Meanwhile I could practically recite the script verbatim from the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 E3 shows and picture in my mind the big moments of them. They were good marketing. They stick in your head. SoP might as well be the evening newsreader.
It was a bigger show than I remembered, though It wasn't really a "big" show when you compare it to what "big show" used to mean, or even what it meant a year prior. Dates/video for GoW and GT weren't spectacular, they were games that were supposed to be launching around then based on the prior year's show's information. Guardians...we'd already seen like an hour of Guardians at Squeenix's own show 3 months prior, plus whatever Keighley must have had. It was a rerun, and it's even on Switch.... So the 2 Insomniac games were really the whole show. But I do admit, I forgot about them being the show due to the dire format of these shows.
@UltimateOtaku91 I like that new slogan. It really fits the PS5.
PS1: U R not (red)E
PS2: make.believe
PS3: It Only Does Everything!
PS4: Greatness Awaits
PS5: Still Better Than Nothing
@WaveBoy You can look around freely thanks to apps like Vorpx, but the gunplay will remain largely the same.
@WizzNL Sony follows a strickt plan. One SoP in Summer and an Event in September ever since they dont go to E3 anymore
@IonMagi
Liaaaar.
Liar liar pants on fire.
@NEStalgia I mean... holding out hope that Sony is going to deliver another show like the 2015 E3 with Shenmue, FF7R, Last Guardian, all back to back is going to always result in disappointment.
Things are changing, and we have to accept that E3 is dead. The only one holding on to it is Microsoft, and we will have to wait and see what happens there, because even as a series x owner, I have until to be impressed with a Microsoft conference. It's always CGI Trailer with no gameplay, no date, and then we are told to keep waiting year after year.
They may have bought a bunch of studios but hellblade 2 has been in development forever and still doesn't have a date. Fable... enough said...(I want the game but I'll believe it when I see gameplay). And now perfect dark is in development hell.
E3 doesn't work the way it used to anymore. You can't just give a cgi trailer and nothing else. You need to deliver. Which is why you are seeing more companies do smaller shows and starting to not announce games until they are absolutely ready.
There have been 28 delays already this year... do we really want more? Just for the sake of being satiated at all times? Why do we need to know everything RIGHT NOW?
Thinking:
Stray
Little Devil Inside
Hoping:
Stray
Little Devil Inside
Street Fighter 6
Dragon's Dogma 2
Final Fantasy XVI
@WizzNL you are wasting your time trying to use logic and facts with them. It won't work, they will just shift to complaining about something else Sony isn't doing properly...
@WaveBoy I tried RE7 in VR... I had to stop. I was borderline crawling out of my chair 🤣🤣
I LOVE horror but that was a little too much for me
Not interested in Virtual Reality at all so not sure if I'll get a lot out of this State of Play - unless its mostly non-VR games with just a small section dedicated to PSVR2.
Sony stays mum, people complain. Sony wants to announce something, people complain. People complain about those who complain. Those who complain complain about being denied the right to complain...
On topic: I'm hyped about PSVR2 as I truly hope picture quality will be a lot better and Sony somehow manages to mitigate the motion sickness I get when using VR.
@gollumb82
People now will complain about Gollumb. Cycle resets.
@RevGaming
🤣 haha! Good one mate 🙂👍
@Titntin
I’m still not 100% convinced that if gamepass did not exist as it does today the way it does today.
Then I think Sony would have been happy with the current PS Plus as it is now and would have not changed it to the new three tier system.
I now I’m a sceptical old git 😂
@WadeIsInsane
Seems that way. I've been to the other side of the fence and although the grass indeed is greener over there, they've got a whole bunch of nothing else really. Besides Quick Resume and Forza Horizon there's nothing I found next gen about Xbox. As for the big N, I've got a Switch but gave it to my daughter so she would leave my PS5 alone haha.
@Milktastrophe Ooooh, I hope so! I’m looking forward to it! That’s a perfect release date too, as I’ll have time to finish whatever else I want to finish first.
@Shepherd_Tallon If you say so 🙂
@torne All true, but I think Sony mostly went and copied Nintendo Direct, which, when it started was exciting and personal, but after Iwata's death became a lifeless, bland, impersonal commercial reminiscent of those Time-Life 80's Smooth Jazz Collection commercials that run at 2:30AM. Then Sony just took that and copied it. Which is kind of their thing.
They don't always need a "Year of Dreams" E3 stadium show, but these bland formats offer about as much hype as a Turbotax ad. Less, actually, I can remember all of those this year, and I can't remember any of the SoPs or NDs. I remember more about the year 2000 PS2 commercials than I remember about the last 4 SoPs. It may not be Shenmue, FF7R, TLG back to back in a stadium arena, but actually making it exciting marketing, you would think, would be a priority, rather than blandly showing things in series. They can engage the showmanship of E3 without having to spend as much as E3. I think even management is divided on this. Tretton touched on it recently and acknowledged both sides, but hoped that the bigger shows would come back and argued that they have value, so there's a difference in view between two PS CEOs take on the value of big shows, and as you said, Spencer obviously does still believe in them as well. This is just the bland Ryan/Furukawa era grinding on in yet another bland direction. "For the
PlayersInvestors".They're an entertainment company, that shouldn't be a challenge for them. A good showman can make a showcase of 2 new games and a bunch of regurtigated information exciting, even by adding content/entertainment/value to the presentation itself (isn't that you youtubers are famous for doing?) You can say with the internet people don't need hype for this stuff anymore, but the success of youtubers having no purpose except hype and personality and having wide appeal because of it suggests otherwise. And, really, it's not like it could hurt. We may have all cringed at Aisha and Mr. Caffeine, but we remember Aisha, and Mr. Caffeine. They were worth every dollar spent on them.
Literally all they have to do is show a trailer, or give a release date for, FFVIIR Part 2 and I'll be delighted!
@WaveBoy All good! I know a lot of people who prefer VR. I wasn’t discrediting it (I have an Oculus myself but it’s turned into a Beat Saber machine lol) I just like to chill on a sofa with a controller is all. The immersion with VR is indisputably better and can be really intense at times.
I’m also not huge into horror games so VR horror titles are sometimes too terrifying for me 😂
Hoping to hear Half Life Alyx is in development.
My disappointment level will be set to HIGH. Not expecting in high profile bangers until the September games showcase.
@get2sammyb yes finally psvr2 news! 😃 I'm hoping for details of gt7 and resi8 getting FULL vr2 support. and l think l heard resi7 is getting a ps5 update? l can only assume this is for psvr2 as well, as the psvr doesn't work with ps5 games.... ? either way colour me excited!
I guess people gonna be angry when they show COD. Haha
AARRGG. 😅
Nah Its going to be a cool SoP I say 👍🏻
And I can watch this one
I'm beyond excited for PSVR2. Firstly because VR is awesome, but secondly because of the potential for mind blowing graphics. For one, PSVR2 games are current-gen only by definition, so game design doesn't have to be constrained by ancient Jaguar cores and disk spinning drives. And on top of that, foveated rendering may provide a significant boost in performance and resolution over flatscreen-based games since the PS5's horsepower can be more efficiently used.
I made a prediction a few months back when psvr2 was revealed…. Alyx….. 🙏
@Dezzy70
Who knows mate, maybe. But ive been subbed to now downloading ps4 games for years, and apart from the day ones of course, its had pretty much all the same stuff as on gp. It was always going to transform to include ps5 titles once the first year was done, so its revamp is not due to competitive pressure so much as a natural time in the products cycle to be updated.
Whilst I dont think for one second that Sony feel they have to copy the competition, I do think that they are shaped by customer expectations, and I will concede that game pass is shaping the expectations of everyone. Indeed, knowing this, Sony has been at pains to point out why they wont match game pass, so they are certainly aware!
I think they will have always done what they are doing anyway for the first two tiers, its just what we have had before but with ps5 titles too? I think expectations set by microsofts excellent work on back compatibility has definately nudged Sony into making tier 3 a reality, they had to offer something, so thats definitely a very positive influence.
@Titntin I think the new ps plus offerings are tremendous what yiu saying
@JimbobLink
Yeah.
I will try to get the physical release as possible from my local games store.
@Mikey856 I agree, ive always subbed to now, in addittion to game pass, and im happy to carry on doing so! Looking foward to it 👍
@thefourfoldroot1
With inflation the way it is I lost all interest.
I just want regular PS5 games. That’s it.
@WaveBoy
That’s all fine and well, but many of us puke our guts out and walk away with migraines when we watch a movie in 3D.
A game is even worse in that regard.
FF XVI and FF VII Remake part II is enough for me. I'll buy the GOE Ragnarok anyway so, I do not want to see 5 min of footage for this game in a 30 min showcase
Well, their State of Plays that feature 3rd party titles have been generally awful, so my expectations for this one are at least already as low as possible. It's cool that they are finally going to show some PSVR2 games, but that will likely end up being too expensive for me to buy, so oh well there.
Maybe they'll surprise and actually show a major third party title that we haven't seen already for once, but we'll see.
No first party games means no god of war so I'm not interested
Hoping for Horizon VR gameplay
Hoping for an update or release date for any of these things: Hogwarts Legacy, FF16, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Lost Soul Aside, Project Awakening: Arise, Stray, Little Devil Inside.
Perhaps at the end of it they will announce a separate God Of War state of play for the near future, like a Marvel credits type thing? I feel like they've done something like that before. Keep the momentum going and all that jazz...
To announce a third party showcase right before Xbox shows a ton of third party games makes me believe Sony will announce an acquisition of a third party during this showcase. Keeping my fingers crossed for EA personally🤷🏾♂️
All I can pray and hope for from the PS overlords is that FF16 makes an appearance and I'll be satisfied. If Project Eve can sneak in there too, I'd be over the moon. Not super bummed about Ragnarök possibly not being there because I expect it'll get its own dedicated State of Play, similar to GT7 and Forbidden West, later this year.
@Grimwood when they are ready. they got rid of the time crunching , people people complained about it, so they are going to rush them any more to show off something just for the sake of showing it off.
Zero expectations. I think I'm done caring anymore. I try to get excited and I have a really difficult time these days. I'm guessing I'm simply not the demographic anymore.
The last State of Play wasn’t too awful but the main game that really got my attention was the TMNT collection. Always best to keep expectations low. Could be a game to look out for. Dragon Dogma 2?
@WaveBoy
Completely agree about how much better Resi7 was in VR. Unfortunately I was far too much of a coward to play it that way after the first 30 minutes!
@IonMagi That is correct, this State of Play will only show off third party games and PSVR games.
@Kingdom_Hearts95 I wouldn't count on God of War appearing, this State of Play is going to be mainly third party games and PSVR titles.
@Serialsid @Ichiban @WizzNL @SuperPotato316 @Voltan @Grumblevolcano @Tech-Bandit @JJ2 @AdamNovice @torne
I could see us getting a separate God of War themed State of Play later in June or sometime in July, with it still releasing around September 2022 (assuming the leaks/rumors are true).
Maybe they'll even dedicate the last 1-2 minutes of June 2nd's SoP to a short God of War teaser, with a date for said God of War themed State of Play?
@KidBoruto Maybe not a direct tease but I could see them do a "come back soon for another State of Play" like they did in March. Alternatively I could see Sony save stuff for Summer Game Fest as Geoff Keighley sees Summer Game Fest as the "E3 killer" and Sony were the first ones to fully leave E3.
I enjoy the state of plays. I just wish they did them more frequently. Learning about upcoming releases is a positive in my book.
@jFug Sony seem to have a showcase later in the year so fingers crossed 🤞
@Bagwag82 I reckon we'll have this State of Play, a few big hitters for PlayStation at the Summer Games Fest, a State of play in a month or two for Ragnarok and then a PlayStation Showcase in September
@LightningLeader I wouldn't count on God of War Ragnarok appearing, this State of Play is going to be mainly third party games and PSVR titles.
@Grumblevolcano Summer Games Fest might be another route they could go, sure. We'll just have to wait and see...
@KidBoruto Yeah, you’re probably right about God of War not appearing at this one. It might, but based of the wording it does seem like it’ll be primarily third party games and PSVR2 games.
I still hope we see new information on Final Fantasy XVI or Star Ocean: The Divine Force, though! Those are both third party and it would make me so happy to see updates on those.
@Dezzy70 not sure if this makes any difference to you but it’s a bank holiday on Thursday and Friday for the Queens Jubilee so you might be able to stay up later if work was the reason not to?
@Midgar777
Yes I know thank you, a nice 4 days off work including the weekend.
But will still not stay up 😂.
@LightningLeader What would also be nice is the FF13 Trilogy finally being ported over to PS4/PS5.
@Kingdom_Hearts95 FF16 news would indeed be nice, also maybe FF7 Remake Part 2 teaser/trailer?
As for Star Ocean, I still need to play the 5th game but more info on Divine Force would be cool.
You heard it here first. The DioField Chronicle will stealth release during the state of play.
@KidBoruto I would love any of those announcements if they happened! Final Fantasy XVI, Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2, Final Fantasy XIII getting a port or remaster, or Star Ocean: The Divine Force news would each be incredible.
I would also absolutely love to see a port or remaster of Star Ocean: Second Evolution. They currently have a PS4 version in Japan, but only in Japan. Star Ocean 2 is my personal favorite Star Ocean title, so I’m hoping one day they’ll either localize the Japanese PS4 port or give it the same treatment as First Departure R. That would also be an exciting announcement for me personally. I love pretty much all the Star Ocean games, except for Star Ocean 5. Star Ocean 5 was okay, but not great in my opinion. It was enjoyable for what it was, though, and I’m hopeful Star Ocean 6 will be better than Star Ocean 5 was. Based on what we’ve seen so far, it looks like it has potential.
Hoping for news of the Star Wars RPG remake.
@Kingdom_Hearts95 I especially desire for FF16 and FF7 Remake Part 2 trailers and/or release dates. That would make the June 2nd State of Play (or September showcase) hype as hell.
Star Ocean, funnily enough I got into thru SO3 on PS2, then I checked out the EX anime and enjoyed that.
Eventually I tried out SO1 and SO2 on PSP, didn't get very far...but I did play thru and beat SO4 on PS3.
TBH I'm probably going to replay SO1, SO3, and SO4 before I started playing SO5 finally.
