Fighter jets are about to become cool again, as Tom Cruise takes off in Top Gun: Maverick, the sequel to the 36-year-old original. The thing is, the team at Project ACES knows the real truth: fighter jets are cool all the time, and that's why they keep making Ace Combat games. The latest, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, is one of the best in the series, and with the upcoming Paramount movie on the way, a DLC crossover makes total sense.
Announced a few weeks ago, we didn't really get much information. Now, Bandai Namco has released the above trailer, giving us very slightly more information. Basically, coming to the game is a DLC pack containing aircraft and skins based on Top Gun: Maverick, meaning you can watch the movie, then turn on your PS4 and take those same planes for a spin yourself. Pretty neat.
The DLC will be available from 26th May, almost day and date with the film's theatrical release. There's no word on how much the new content will cost, but we can't imagine it'll be too pricey. Anyway, are you looking forward to this Ace Combat 7 DLC? Land safely in the comments section below.

hey I have this game and I have never played it. gonna get my shades out and slap some kenny loggins on and
i'm not going to do any of these things am i?
@johncalmc Yes, you are. You're just going to pretend you didn't. But we know...
@johncalmc what a tune. I still whack it on in the car sometimes and blast it out.
Two years ago, back when the Top Gun sequel was supposed to be released in theaters, it would’ve made sense to come out with dlc like this. The game is so old at this point, though, is it even worth it? Hmm. I dunno. Good luck to ‘em. I hope it’s a hit.
As an aside, Danger Zone is a great Kenny Loggins tune, but Playing with the Boys is a big time underrated, largely forgotten Loggins tune from Top Gun that deserves more love.
I really enjoyed the Top Gun game when I was a kid. I'm down for this.
I’m down with any excuse to fire up AC7 so this will be an insta-buy for me.
How about they get off their asses and re-release the entire AC franchise on digital stores huh?
