Asobo Studio is still saying A Plague Tale: Requiem will release this year for PS5 as the developer shares a new trailer as part of the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. It was presumed we would get a final date as part of the livestream but a specific day and month weren't shared.
At least the game itself is still shaping up nicely. Featuring a healthy amount of gameplay, the trailer shows how Requiem expands on A Plague Tale: Innocence with more movement and combat options. For now, we have this trailer to munch on while we wait for the final date.
"Embark on a heartrending journey into a brutal, breathtaking world, and discover the cost of saving those you love in a desperate struggle for survival. Strike from the shadows or unleash hell with a variety of weapons, tools and unearthly powers," the YouTube description reads.

First game was great and I'm looking forward to the sequel.
Side question: ive looked over what was announced at the showcase and nothing really stuck out besides this, Kojima and Starfield. Any recommendations i overlooked?
Looking forward to this but a little surprised by no date.
This game will be an instant buy, the first game was immaculate, also Starfield Hype!!!!!!!!
I think it might end up next year to be honest, but it looked good!
@Danloaded Sadly, no. The show was crappy. It's ridiculous just how many Indie games are coming out nowadays. They all blend together even harder than AAA games.
Not watching any trailers (I want to go in blind). But the first game was absolutely brilliant.
Really liked the first one. If it wasn't for a couple of bugs and getting caught in death loops 3x, it'd been amazing.
This one looks to be more action orientated, but that's fine by me.
Also, play it in French, it's just better.
@Danloaded I enjoyed the show but they didn't show a lot that I would buy if on PS. But then the main draw is Game Pass and quantity over quality.
Getting this game Day One on GP is a bit of a coup though, perhaps I'll play it when it ends up one day on the new Plus service.
I liked the look of Forza Motorsport and Starfield and one or two others, but in reality the most recent State of Play was better although of course most of the games shown there are multi-platform anyway.
Shame Kojima has gone green but he wanted complete freedom to make what he wants and to publish where he wants, so can't knock him for accepting the huge sums of money MS are giving him.
Guys go get the first one. Really good.
I’ve always had interest in trying the first one, but never liked how you’re this small kid fighting against trained soldiers. I’ve always felt that it should focused on being powerless instead did a killing machine.
More Amicia and Hugo? Definitely. First game was surprisingly great.
I’m thinking this will release in November considering that month is wide open right now.
Only playing for Amicia. Hugo was a bRatty boy
@jFug the sooner they release this game the better ,super hyped for it , for anyone who hasn't played number one you really are missing out on a great game
This was probably the most exciting thing I saw during the showcase. Can’t wait for this!
Love the first game so much. Very excited for this one!
This game? Omg it’s all about Starfield. That game looked absolutely amazing even so early. See you in about 200 hours when that comes out haha
The first game was my Game Of The Year and I am super hyped for this one!
In the first game I struggled with the clunky controls and eventually gave up. I hope controlling the "action" is wildly improved as the game looks nice.
Really looking forward to this! The first one was great. I can see this having some big open spaces, similar to what TLOU2 did. Probably not as big as TLOU2 did, but I’m sure there will be an obvious difference from the first game. This will be one of the first games I play when I get a PS5.
I really liked what I saw in the trailer, but then it got to the end with no release date and that was fairly deflating. I figured they would finally announce at least a release window since it's the middle of June now.
Unfortunately this could end up coming out with several other games in the last quarter of the year, but this will be a day 1 on PS5 for me if that's not the case. Even though I have a Series X as well, I will gladly buy it on my PS5 since the first one made great use of the DualSense. The extra immersion that gives is worth the money for me.
@ThatMusicFan @BearsEatBeets No release date or even gameplay definitely has me concerned, I suspect it will be delayed into 2023 like @get2sammyb suggested.
For the best if that does happen, gives the developers more time to work on the game and make it beautiful.
First one was great and this one looks even better. Definitely playing this one day one!
