For those of you who have been awaiting a glorious return to ancient Egypt, the time has finally arrived. The anticipated PS5 update for Assassin's Creed Origins (patch 1.60) is available to download now. It weighs in at just over 2.9GB.
Just to be clear, this is an update to the PS4 version of Origins — it doesn't introduce a native PS5 edition. The patch allows the open world game to run at 60 frames-per-second on Sony's latest console. However, the resolution hasn't been upped — Origins already ran at an increased, dynamic resolution on PS4 Pro, usually landing somewhere between 1350p and 1584p.
And although it's not stated in the patch notes, Origins should enjoy faster load times on PS5, purely because of the console's capabilities. This was also the case with Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
Will you be playing Assassin's Creed Origins on PS5? Welcome Bayek back in the comments section below.

Nice! Now do it for the Far Cry series as well. Pipe dream, I know, but I'd love to replay FC5 at 60 fps.
@dschons far cry 5 is literally broken on Ps5. It constantly crashes. Ubisoft was made aware of it in the first few months of the console release and did nothing/have done nothing to fix it.
@KundaliniRising333 Ah, too bad. It is one of those games. I haven't tried it on PS5 yet, I don't think. The only broken game I had was AC Syndicate so far. Well, it sure was a pipe dream then.
I want a unity patch.
@Kumatz i think if you own the disc version and play the 1.0 version, you'll get flawless 60. But I remember that game being pretty buggy at launch, so no idea whether this is worth it
Would be great if they could Patch Syndicate now for PS5, Game has many shadow and lighting glitches
Origins is my favorite AC game, but I already have Platinum and 100% completion. I have no interest, or reason, to jump back into it.
any changes to resolution or graphic quality?
I don’t wanna push my luck, but would also love it if Ubisoft did 60fps patches for GR wildlands, and FC5/New Dawn. C’mon Ubi, what say you?
@Kumatz This! its annoying as we know it can do 60fps from an unpatched disc version..
Can't comment on any resolution updates (running a 1080p display) but the 60FPS movement is pretty great in the few minutes I played around with it. Fast loading is cutting off the Ubisoft signature at the beginning though, so I'd expect at least one more patch to address that.
It's in my backlog, good to see it getting improved more before I've had a chance to play it. 😂
@KundaliniRising333 Oh that's not good, it's another one in my backlog. Will leave it there for a while yet then. 😂
Happy to get back into this game at 60fps and apparently that ever popular and not at all unusual 1584p resolution
Nice. AC Odyssey felt higher than 60fps, twas super smooth. Hopefully this is the same.
@KundaliniRising333 I played through it on PS5 with zero issues.
@jmac1686 yah I think you were one of the lucky ones. I know for. Me it would freeze and I would have to close the app all the time like every 20 to 40mins. I had just bought like a complete edition of it too. I was pissed so I started digging and found many complaints about it made on the ubisoft forums along with their responses essentially stating nothing has been done but thanks for letting them know.
I actually made a decision never to buy another ubisoft game from that point on, simply because it's something that broke the game for me so I was essentially just out that money. That and ubisoft just completely being void of creativity and copy and pasting their titles for nearly a decade now.
@dschons thing is, Syndicate was broken for me on PS4 too. Those weird flashing light issues ALWAYS happened to me on my PS4. I got a whole 2 minute long video i took in 2017 showing it. So I don't know if its wholly a backwards compatibility fault
Downloaded and installed...very nice and silky smooth but it crashes every 5 mins..had about 6 something went wrong and back to the desktop..awesome 👍
@theMEGAniggle only happened to me on PS5. weird
@dschons broken game
@theMEGAniggle @dschons It used to have the same texture flickering problems on PS4Pro. I believe you played the game on a PS4Pro? Eventually they released a patch for it. They just need to "port the same patch" to PS5.
AC Syndicate have never had any issues on base PS4 except severe flickering in the main menu (already) right after the game booted - closing the game and re-running it one more time always helped for me.
This is the only Assassin's Creed game I've played, and I absolutely loved it - but never finished it. This is a great reason to go back! Cool to see Ubisoft supporting older games with next-gen updates (not that the game is THAT old...)!
We need 60fps update on black flag and unity
@Nightcrawler71 it's possible with ubisoft plus coming to ps plus and gamepass
@skaarj217 I never had a Pro. It was on my base PS4, launch model. I can send you the video if you want. It was in the weird loading area where you just run around, then the game loaded and just went crazy. Almost caused a seizure
Thanks for the reminder! I look forward to playing this game eventually.
Played for two hours on ps5 this morning silky smooth gameplay loving replaying this classic
I’m curious, do I need to have this PS4 version of AC Origins on my internal SSD in order to get the 60 fps, or can I still get it if I have it installed on my external SATA hard drive ?
@Neoguardian86 yeah it will still be 60 fps on an external drive, just slower load times
@Nightcrawler71 I'm late to the game, to say the least, but I somehow ran into this article again - not to mention this comment. I had to reply because I want a Ghost Recon Wildlands PS5 enhanced version so bad - if not a simple patch. I understand these things aren't necessarily "simple" - but Ubisoft could use a boost of morale after their lackluster next generation era. They would win a lot of people over with a little love to an old classic like Ghost Recon Wildlands. It would be a great branding move. I don't foresee it happening, unfortunately, but I really would like to see a surge of support - if not a petition for this. Happy New Year (1.5 years later)! Haha...
