Dreadout 2 is a moody 3rd-person horror game influenced by Indonesian folklore, originally released on PC in 2020, and now it's coming to PS5 and PS4 on 20 July.
Borrowing a little inspiration from Fatal Frame, you play as Linda, a high school student with the ability to see and sense ghosts, and you use your smartphone to combat the nightmares threatening her hometown.

Is Fatal Frame with an iPhone not just TikTok?
Probably should've brought more inspiration from Fatal Frame cause the gameplay was pretty terrible.
Worth mentioning the PC version doesn't seem to have reviewed very well.
Kind of thing I’d give a go on Plus Extra
This game is impressive considering the size of the team.

It has a mostly positive All Time rating though? That's pretty good for such a small team. The recent reviews are even better due to a well received update.
Even the original Dreadout isn't horribly reviewed... :/
On Metacritic I guess it's different but there's only a single critic review listed, and 4 user reviews (with 11 ratings in total).
I didnt like the original.......started ok but I got lot in the school and stuck and gave up.
I did like the standalone DLC one more.
But I didnt like them enough to buy the sequel on the PC.
Trailer seems alright, about as janky as Fatal Frame. Liked the djent soundtrack
Like the idea. Just seems a bit ps3 lvl.
@Constable_What Pretty much everything reviews well on Steam, though, unless the developer does something to annoy the community.
For some games, you kinda have to dig for reviews.

They seem to reference a lot of the same issues.
Anyway, I have the first game on PC and intend to try it at some point, but I figured it was worth a warning for people like me who are desperate for classic survival horror and might be lured into purchasing it at full price or something.
Was kinda disapointed by the first entry and seeing how mediocre the reviews are I probably have to pass this one up.
Meh. Looks a bit of a pale imitation to me.
I'd love to see a full collection of the FF/PZ for either Switch or PS5. I'm still slightly confused over who has full control over the IP, Nintendo or Koei Tecmo.
Given the last release came out on pretty much every platform around, it's surely something that could happen.
@Ralizah I guess that's fair enough, although not every game reviews we'll on Steam like that. There are so many legitimately bad games that are reviewed horribly, especially if they're buggy.
