Resident Evil Village is getting a substantial expansion on 28th October, which spans a new story campaign, Mercenaries updates, and a third-person mode! But that’s not all Biohazard fans have to look forward to: the forgotten – and delayed – multiplayer spin-off Resident Evil RE:Verse will also begin service on 28th October.
This was originally due out alongside Ethan Winters’ escapade over a year ago, but was pushed out of the single player campaign’s launch window – before just being outright delayed entirely. It’ll finally start service around 18 months later than planned. We suppose that means Capcom’s had plenty of time to improve the experience – reports from the beta weren’t exactly glowing!

I respect the hell out of them for really trying to make this a thing but it’ll be DOA like always.
I will never understand Capcom's obbession with trying to make RE MP a thing. Honestly they should just patch in co-op into Mercenaries Mode and leave it at that.
@WallyWest Yes please, I love co-op mercs!
The fact that they didn't show any new gameplay is kinda worrisome.
resident evil is full of puzzels and fighting creatures alone.
erie , dread. dont think a multiplayer is resident evil.
hell what do i know i played resident evil since playstation 1.
this doesnt suit multiplayer nonsense this will be tried out and threw to the side. could of took the money and re-release the original trilogy.
Every time I read something about multiplayer spin-offs, I remember the two games for PS2 called Outbreak.
It wasn't a perfect series, but file one and file two had the cool idea to allow gamers to play as ordinary people, not bad-ass cops or that kind of stuff.
Every character had their unique ability. It was interesting. Unfortunately PS2 wasn’t able to afford to show the idea how it deserved. So I hope we’ll have remakes sooner or later.
@lolwhatno I would be beyond shocked if this had even a modicum of success the concept has been so laughable from its inception
@WallyWest Make a bloody Outbreak sequal or remaster with optional online i will never understand why they wont release something like that.
@gotDvamp I loved it and now with the easy way to go online and the offline campaing i would think it would be a slamdunk. Remaster it or remake it i loved the games.
I played the beta last year, it was awful. Not Umbrella Corps awful (that thing was next-level, barely functioning awful), but it was still very, very bad. The kind of bad that nothing short of scrapping the entire thing and starting from scratch was ever going to "fix".
I'll echo everyone else's sentiment, I truly do not understand why Capcom continues to try and force multiplayer Resident Evil. We have a template, a very GOOD template that was a few years ahead of its time, in Outbreak and they're doing everything they can to avoid that.
Take Outbreak 1 and 2, remake them in the RE Engine, add new characters and maps every few months and PRINT money for years. It's such a no-brainer, slam dunk...but Capcom can't tell its a** from a hole in the ground, so here we are.
