Here’s a brand new still from HBO’s The Last of Us series. Filming will conclude on the show from tomorrow, and Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann said it will be “the most faithful video game adaptation ever”. He’s even directed one of the episodes, and it’s his instalment that this image is taken from. The still appears to be set during the museum section of the game, but we’ll apparently learn a lot more about the TV show soon.
In other news, original Joel and Ellie actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson will have roles in the show. These will be new roles, and not nod-and-wink style cameos, and we’ll learn more about their nature in the future. In the meantime, enjoy the still above, and look forward to the show launching next year.
In the meantime, in case you somehow missed it, The Last of Us: Part I was announced today.

Am I right in thinking Neil alluded to it being released sooner than next year? I had the volume down low but I’m sure he kind of stopped short of agreeing with Geoff it was coming next year?
@itsfoz I believe it has already been said by HBO it is coming in 2023. Also, considering it only finishes filming tomorrow, there is a lot of work to be done.
@itsfoz sounded that way? Maybe they’ll split it into two parts and we’ll get some eps this year?
Beyond happy to hear that Troy and Ashley are being incorporated! I always love when franchises respect their actors like this.
That’s really cool that Troy and Ashley are apart of the show as well. Hopefully this will launch in Spring of 2023!
It's going to be awful. You take the game play out of a video game, and you're left with the most basic story.
@mus422 God no. I'd rather wait for a full season than the BS some of these networks/services do just to milk their shows. As much as I'm looking forward to this show, and them venturing far away from Neil's story in time so we aren't stuck with The Last of Us Part II's story eventually, I'm definitely fine with waiting at this point.
they might as well cast nolan in there too right
@Peach64 if that's your take. Did you even play the games? 🤣
I think we'll be seeing a trailer before the years out. I think that's what Neil was hinting at.
It's the most faithful adaptation ever, yet has two new characters with significant roles. Ok.
If you enhance the brightness on this, there's apparently a clicker in the background.
Fingers crossed we'll get a teaser trailer before 2022 ends!
