It’s widely regarded as one of the worst games ever made, but in this era of unexpected ports, Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties is a prime candidate for a physical re-release from Limited Run Games. The legendary 3DO game was announced for PS5 and PS4 last year, but is now zeroing in on a launch in the second half of 2022.
For those of you not familiar with the original, it’s an FMV title with a loose interpretation of the words “full motion video”. Y’see, the game was critically panned at launch for its presentation focusing on slideshow stills, rather than actual video footage. For the new Definitive Edition (!!!) versions, the images are being remastered in 4K, and there’ll be deleted scenes – as well as some interviews.
We imagine there’ll probably also be some pricey Collector’s Editions for those that want them, as this tends to be LRG’s modus operandi these days. It’s somewhat bizarre that this is making a comeback, but we suppose it’s fascinating from a historical perspective. Are there any other long-forgotten FMV games you’d like to see ported to modern consoles?

On this episode of: Seriously Who On Planet Earth Asked For This?
It’s so so bad. Like I can’t even put into words how abominable it actually is. I’d say it’s worth a buy for a laugh but it’s not even bad in a funny way.
Way of the Warrior next...need more cheesy digital 2D sprite fighters.
Seriously, why?
Wow, so they're actually going through with this. The whole thing went radio silent after that announcement last year so I wasn't sure what to make of it.
What were they thinking?
I don’t know who he is but if there’s a snow storm tonight, he’s going on my tyres 😛
At this rate they're going to port E.T. for the the Atari just for the lols.
Hell yes. Only the truest of classics deserve a 4K treatment.
i mean it's obvious that this is a sign that a sequel will be announced at summer game fest live.
better yet,it will be the closing announcement!
@Enuo Would not surprise me at all to be honest.
I hope it come to PS + at some point so I can Platinum it as a joke.
@nessisonett Ironically, your insistence on how bad the game apparently is will probably just make people want to 'play' it more.
Although I can't imagine there's any reason not to just watch a playthrough on youtube.
@GamerDad66
Fun fact in case you didnt know, Way of The Warrior was developed by Naughty Dog.
Hey we all have to start somewhere.
It's funny cause all these games that have been coming out late like the Bill and Ted's game and now this are all games that were featured on AVGN. I can't help but wonder if because of him them have become popular.
Probably get more enjoyment looking up AVGN's "review" back in the day than I ever would actually playing this!
Meantime despite the irony of a ps5 Night Trap Anniversary release,PS4 EU/AU regions still remained locked out of accessing the game with no digital PSN version & it only having the one limited physical version!😕 (No such issue for Switch owners apparently!)
How on earth do you "remaster" that pixelated junk 😂
Don't even know how many times I've seen that AVGN episode featuring this "game".
And yet we still can't get a physical release of The Simpsons Arcade Game! 😩😭
If it's under 50$ I'll buy it. Just for the nostalgia cringe
At this point I just think Limited Run Games is just going through the AVGN playlist
Okay that’s ghey .. that being, not actually gay yet gayer than gay itself
It might be trash tier game - however it's important to preserve even bad games.
Collectors edition to be called wet and wild I'm guessing
@AndyKazama that isn't true at all, steam is full of asset flip garbage and none of it should be preserved, it should be nuked
There are so many smaller games that deserve it and even if they are no classics atleast they are fun to play. And there a lot of great games games that deserve to be remade and never will.
I'm freckin dying rn 😂😂😂🤣
The guy in the picture looks like Zachary Quinto.. haha
(The) Town with No Name: Remastered announcement incoming.
@PegasusActual93 i believe this is the perfect comment for this story. kinda funny it's coming out but yes, who asked for it?
@Victor_Meldrew we should preserve some of the trash games so we can go "don't do this, this is not what people will be attracted to"
This is going to be one of those games that sells because it will be an easy platinum as I can't see anyone actually buying it for any other reason. It barely based as an interactive CD back in the day calling it a game is generous.
But why though?
@AndyKazama This game, despite being pretty bad, also has an interesting story. The game's actress turned out to be one of the Glow women's wrestling actresses, the same one the Netflix series is based on.
And I also agree that´s important to preserve it, even if it's horrible. It´s like a time machine, a relic from another era, and also very rare.
@Tasuki You're probably on the right track. Who really knew about this game before it was on AVGN years ago. Plus the console version was only on the 3DO, an old system not many people owned. I have zero interest myself, would rather re-watch the AVGN episode for the much needed humor injection.
