RimWorld is a strategy survival game in which you guide the survivors of a shipwreck on an alien world as they attempt to establish a colony, tending to their needs and dealing with their issues.
Featuring an intelligent AI storyteller that will throw twists and turns at you as you play, it's a frightfully addictive game that will keep you hooked for days on end.
Launching on PS4 on 29 July, RimWorld: Console Edtion is designed to make the process possible with a controller and offers a near-endless amount of replayability, with its randomly generated worlds, characters and content.

Well that’s very very cool. Played hundreds of hours of this on Steam and somehow missed that this was coming to PS5. It’s just a fascinating life sim full of things to do. The AI storyteller really keeps you on your toes too, and you definitely get attached to your little alcoholic one-legged starving pyromaniacs.
Very interesting. I've always wanted to give this game a try. Don't let its looks deceive you, this game is incredibly deep.
I'll tell my kids this is Starfield. Jk jk
Looks interesting though
@nessisonett only played this briefly on PC, but yeah pretty excited for this now. I literally can't stop playing Crusader Kings 3 on console now, strategy games are making the jump to console
I love this game and play it regularly for the last 5 years. It isn't graphically anything but the gameplay is so deep and the replay value is infinite. This one is a real gem.
On Xbox this would be right onto gamepass...let's hope the same thing starts happening with PS Plus Extra.
@jcvandan PS+ Extra isn't Gamepass and never will be. Sony have said they can't afford to do it. So get over it.
got this on a steam sale haven't played much lol il try it out on PlayStation.
I love this on GOG, but I would've preferred a Switch and mobile port.
The game looks tailor-made for the Switch's controls, especially since a Steam Deck control scheme was implemented that combines traditional controls with touchscreen controls.
I'm just picturing Rimmerworld now.
@Eldritch all they said was their games aren't going to launch on PS+, indie games launch on plus all the time. There's one in 3 weeks even.
@jcvandan It also on Xbox, and not on Gamepass. So...
@Eldritch wow chill. This isn’t a first party AAA game it’s port of an old indie. And we know that indies are coming to extra day 1. Just as they did to old ps plus in the past.
Can I rim the world in this game, then?
@Khayl CK3, other than the many bugs, is a great port of a very very complicated game. I never thought we’d see Paradox games on console but we got Stellaris and now Crusader Kings. Fingers crossed we get Victoria 3.
Its been on my wish list for a number of years (post early access) But the developers stance on making it fair by never putting it sale lower than the EA price (eg never been on sale with more than 10% off)......ment I havent snapped it.
From what I read the console version only contains one of the two DLC. So its going to be interesting to see its price. Whther overall it will be the same price or more.
From what I can gather the games popularity stems largely through the modding scene, so its unlikely to gpicj up the console version.
But if the console release and the eventual discounts can spur the PC version to get more than 10% off, then Ill be happy
@Burntbreadman It's £32.99 for base game and £44.99 for the deluxe with the first DLC. So that's pretty steep. Especially as the second DLC came out a year ago - why couldn't that have been included too?
I'll wait for either a decent sale (which from what you're saying sounds unlikely) or I'll venture over to my Turkey PSN account where the deluxe is around £26.
Port is being done by the devs who brought Prison Architect to console so hopefully they'll do a decent enough job with the UI translation.
@jcvandan I don't need to chill. I'm just bored of hearing the same line over and over and over...
Personally I don't think Gamepass or Extra/Premium are good for the gaming industry. I signed up to Extra as my plus subscription had just run out. It timed well with me having just managed to get a PS5. There's a lot of games I'd put off buying till I got said PS5. I'm now getting a huge load of them for, basically, £34.
I would happily have paid for them, I wanted them, but now I don't need to. Also I tend to buy a lot of smaller games throughout the year. At a rough guess I usually spend around £600 to £700 on games a year. Now it's £34 and maybe the odd multiplayer I like the look of. How is that loss of revenue good for the gaming industry? Good for us in the short term. But long term I can't see how. And then to hear people moaning...
@Eldritch I genuinely wasn’t moaning. Unhappy people see negatives where there are none.
@Eldritch if your Playstation plus had run out, how did you get Extra for £34? Unless it's for just 3 months, last I checked, it's £84 (minus any discounted PSN credit saving)
@themuckman
PC version is £27.79 so......for a developer so insistent of not under cuttin Early backers with sales.......you would expect them to have price parity between console/PC.
I guess thats what happens when you get an external party to port.
Oh well if theres ever a physical release, retailers will cut the price at least (not that it will affect me because reading reviews PC is the way to go because of mods)
Because I was excluding the yearly £50 for PS+ for the sake of showing expenditure differences. I'm only including the £34 that gets you access to Extra's library of games. I'd have bought PS+ either way.
@jcvandan it's certainly a title where I'll wait for a deep sale or an appearance on Extra. If I was that interested in playing it [enough to pay those prices] I'd have done so on Steam years ago.
@theheadofabroom Yeah even though it looks really cool it's a 'maybe' game for me, the subscriptions are perfect for those sorts of games, which is why I was hoping (not moaning) it would come to Extra.
@Eldritch ah, got you. and yes, hard to argue it isn't worth the extra £34 when you look at what you get
Since I've got it I've been hopelessly addicted to Tetris connected, at the expense of all the 'big' games on it, but if I can find more hidden gems I'd never have considered buying then it's an even bigger win.
@themuckman lol That was one of the first games I downloaded too. And I've also been playing other smaller titles.
Spookily, having just bought a new pair of headphones this morning, I decided to try them out on one of the many games I'd have purchased but now get on Extra. I chose Last Day of June as I'd had my eye on it for a while and the soundtrack is done by a favourite artist of mine. As I'm playing it suddenly dawns on me I'm playing the Last Day of June on the last day of June with a thunderstorm ruining a lovely day for the protagonists, whilst outside, a sunny day is being ruined by thunderstorm. 🤣
@Eldritch @themuckman besides Deathstranding, Tetris has been my goto as well. The music and diverse images really makes a fun simple game amazing.
@NomNom 😂😅😂 well done.
@Elodin @themuckman It looks like they've done similar with Centipede Recharged. Though, having not had chance to play it yet, I can't say if it works as well as Tetris Connected. I loved the original when I was young so I've got my fingers crossed.
Well I am a fan of rimming so 😊
I've tried playing this game on four separate occasions and I cannot tolerate the art style, nor the faff by the game's devotees that it forces you to IMAGINE what's happening in your own mind.
@Eldritch @Elodin I'd somehow never really played Tetris over the years (decades!), but can already appreciate the addiction that lies within such a simple looking diversion of a game! Especially with the hypnotic images and build-up of the music.
As for Rimworld, off to watch a few video reviews and playthroughs to help me understand a bit more about how it all works.
Without mods? Still a great game but yeah, vanilla is pretty, well, vanilla after a few runs. That said you should get your moneys worth in those few runs.
Used to play this back in the Alpha days. Very fun game.
