Developer Subset Games has said PS5, PS4 ports of its supposedly excellent strategical title Into the Breach are "within the realm of possibility". First released for PC and Nintendo Switch in 2018, the game is being expanded next month via an Advanced Edition that includes new content and all-new versions for mobile devices. Although, the Nintendo Switch remains the only home console Into the Breach is available on.
Speaking to Push Square, programmer Matthew Davis was hesitant to commit to promising PS5, PS4 versions of the game. When asked whether ports are possible, he said: "It's within the realm of possibility. We've got nothing against PS4/PS5. But I'd like to get back to original development in the immediate future."
As for why Into the Breach hasn't appeared on any other consoles besides Nintendo's hybrid system, Davis explains how the team only has so much time as well as limited resources. "We're a very small studio with only 3 full-time developers. Every port takes up time not only in its initial development, but also in post-release support and maintenance." While the team would love to have the game available everywhere, it's also eager to work on new content and other projects. "It's a difficult balancing act."
Commanding an impressive Metacritic rating of 90, our sister site Nintendo Life agreed with the overall score in a 9/10 verdict. "Into The Breach is a brutal, uncompromising game of making hard decisions and living with your mistakes, but the short length of battles and endless variety of playthroughs makes for an extremely addictive experience."
While Subset Games would already have PS5, PS4 ports done if it was as easy as flipping a switch, it doesn't sound like Into the Breach will be coming to Sony systems in the near future. Maybe don't get your hopes up too much.

Sounds like a no to me. Not sure why the publisher hasn’t arranged for a small 3rd party studio to port it if the team don’t have time themselves.
I swear I'm having mad Mandela effect right now. Not only I was sure this was already on PS4, but was also certain it was given out as a PS+ title and in my library lol
@DrClayman Epic Game Store gave it out for free a while ago, you might have mixed it up with that?
It's a great little turn-based tactics game, and they should get a 3rd party studio to port it like @Angelus3K said.
It's getting a mobile port which will be included in your Netflix subscription. I'm planning to check it out that way.
Understandable since Indie Games mostly dont sell on Playstation anymore like it was reported. So they focused on the Platform where many Players dont only buy AAAAA
They are also doing a Gizmondo port, so I’ll get that in a few months.
@R1spam Oh, very cool - I should be able to access that, I suppose.
Never heard of this, btw - but looks cool
Yeah, as mentioned, this game came back into the news with that mobile port coming July 19th. Can’t wait to finally check it out!
@Voltan I've never played any games on the Netflix app either but it's got a whole section for games! Think it's download as well rather than streaming. Into the breach seems like a perfect game for touchscreen.
I want to play this game so bad that I might have to end up buying it on Steam since its looking like a PS port is a long shot right now.
Played some of this a while back, cool game. Would be nice to see it available on more platforms
I just looked up the game on steam and it has full controller support. Not porting it to every console in existence is stupid.
This wan't already on ps4? I played this on switch years ago, guess it's never too late.
@R1spam I'm pretty on iOS the idea is that you download the apps from the store like any other apps and it uses your Netflix login information to verify your subscription. Not sure if it's the same or different on Android - and I haven't tried it either.
I mean, Starfield coming to PS5 is "in the realm of possibility". Just because something is theoretically possible doesn't mean it's ever going to happen.
@IonMagi What bull good games sell even indie games.
I'd love to play it on Playstation but we will see what happens.
I don't think they put out faster than light on anything aside from pc either, despite its massive popularity on that platform.
I was pretty "ho-hum" on Into the Breach. Can we just get FTL already???
