PSVR2 has been officially announced for quite some time, and we even got our first glimpse at a selection of games during last night’s State of Play – but hands on impressions have been light. That’s because, effectively, very few outside of Sony have played it yet – we’re still eagerly anticipating our first opportunity to put it through its paces.
Sony Santa Monica scribe and ex-IGN reporter Alanah Pearce has used the headset, however, and in a livestream she revealed a few impressions – despite technically being under NDA. “I’ve played this,” she announced of Horizon Call of the Mountain when its gameplay trailer emerged. “This is why I’ve tried PSVR2, I’ve played it. I’m technically not allowed to talk about it, so I guess all I’ll say is that I found it very, very cool. I was actually just very impressed with PSVR2 in general. I do work for PlayStation so take my word with a grain of salt – bias and all that. It may mean absolutely nothing but I was super impressed – I found it very cool. Unfortunately, I really can’t comment on this at all.”
Earlier in the year, former Valve employee Chet Faliszek also shared some thoughts on PSVR2 following a GDC demo. “Had one of those VR moments today playing in the new PSVR2 HMD,” he said. “You know where the world just feels different when you return? So good… thanks [Shuhei Yoshida] and [Greg Rice] for the demo and chat.”

There is nothing that I'm looking forward to as much as PSVR2, this is gonna be awesome
I'm hyped. My wallet is not hyped. My preorder hunt nerves are ready to surrender, and we don't even have a date yet.
My PSVR2 Hype went right up after the state of play last night.
hoping Media Molecule make an offical PS5 verison of Dreams; to make full use of it too.
looks boring tbh
Looks phenomenal. Anybody who’s actually experienced VR for themselves (and isn’t so unfortunate as to suffer from motion sickness) will be incredibly excited by the hardware features and what we have seen of the games so far.
Horizon looked great but I'm really looking forward to No Man's Sky on the improved hardware, particularly the outer space flying sections. I hope they've created something special with that.
I mean, she was hardly going to say it was rubbish. She works for PS and is under an NDA. I do wonder if there’s some sort of clause in those, that you can allude positively but not negatively.
@nessisonett Well she isn't an engineer so if she says that about psvr2 is from the point of view of the general user and that is valid because it's not like out there are lots of vr experiences with the level of design that sony is going to put in this one. And i think calling Horizon "cool" is enough to think that it is cool indeed but it's not the best game (because it looks like an demo experience more than a game).
I didn't play Resident Evil Village because I was waiting for this let's go, hopefully sony keeps the project alive because i have to say it's the first time i'm actually hyped about horror games on vr.
I wish them nothing but the best for good sales and increased userbase!
It does look COOL but no arms in the game just seems to ruin it really. Well I haven't tried VR yet but seeing hands with no arms in the game doesn't look like you could think your in the game(maybe I am wrong tho)
Resolution: It's super clear
Gameplay: It plays very well
Graphics: They're very nice
Story: It's really nice interesting
Thanks.
@NEStalgia I just got a ps5 my wallet isn't ready for PSVR2
Sure. It may be, but my brain doesn't like VR. It gets all scrambled and i feel sick.
The game looks fantastic. Hopefully it'll be closer to Half-Life Alyx's length i.e. 8-10 hours and not around or less than 2 like a lot of VR titles.
Day 1 for psvr. Day 1 for psvr2. I most likely will game very little outside VR for quite some time. Especially considering the massive upgrade. I got lost in Moss, FarPoint (Co op campaign- legit), ASTRO, Thumper, Beat Saber, Wipeout, Creed, Arizona Sunshine, Blood and Truth, Tetris Effect...so, so much. And it was the worst** VR headset out att. With truly immerisve worlds and experiences...I'm gone lol. I have zero motion sickness or headaches. I could crank Wipeput VR in hour clips
@nessisonett She could have just said nothing if she didn't like it though. But as she said: That sentence in isolation doesn't mean too much.
@Carl-G Oh don't worry, you really ARE wrong Excluding the fact that making a whole arms would result in bad tracking/aligning with your physical ones, you really don't need to see them. In VR you use your real arms, seeing the hand is enough, you'll have to try.
