There are two Sonic the Hedgehog video games arriving this year. One of them looks good, and the other one is Sonic Frontiers — but you can view the gameplay and judge for yourself. Anyway, at least Sonic Origins is just around the corner, and this retro collection is looking pretty great.
A new trailer, embedded above, goes over the game's features and modes. In case you don't know, Origins gathers up Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles, and CD into one place and embellishes them with various fancy extras. Firstly, all the games are playable in widescreen with the Anniversary mode, which also provides endless lives as well as Sonic Mania's Drop Dash move. You can play them all in their original 4:3 aspect ratio too with Classic mode, presenting the games as they were back in the day with limited lives. You'll be able to play as Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles in each game, too.
On top of that, Origins will feature several brand new animations, some of which can be seen throughout the above trailer. A Museum mode houses unlockable memorabilia such as artwork, music, and cinematics, while the Missions are bespoke little challenges for mega fans to conquer.
We're quite looking forward to revisiting these classics, and release is just around the corner. Sonic Origins hits PS5 and PS4 on 23rd June.

Will hold off until their inevitable release on the PlayStation 8.
Its looking pretty good to me, am sure I'll be purchasing though I own so many versions already. They look like the widescreen mobile versions of the first two games, and I've seen Hidden Palace is in Sonic 2. Be interesting to see if you can remove the speed limiter in Sonic 1 as you could in the mobile version. Would have been great if they could have also added the Master System versions of the first two games, but I still have my cartridges.
I also like that remix of the Sonic World theme music from Sonic Jam!
If the ten-year-old me could see this, he'd wet his little shellsuit pants with excitement
I have this preordered. The only thing missing are the Master System games/ Game Gear games/ Knuckles Chaotix that I guess may added via DLC if the game sells well...
I wish split screen was not stretched so badly
@Gremio108 What are shellsuit pants? Honestly confused.
To bad the Game Gear games aren't included. Spinball missing from the roster is also sad. Oh well.
can we get a compilation of the sonic adventures games remastered ? maybe even a compilation of unleashed and generations ?? i’ll get this , but i’m not excited . i never was fond of 2D sonic , they get boring fast and mania was no exception .
@KidBoruto The shellsuit was a fashionable item of clothing in the late 80s and early 90s UK. It was a dreadful invention, and probably massively flammable.
@Gremio108 Oh okay, good to know!
