Voice actor for Thor in God of War Ragnarok, Ryan Hurst, has revealed his work on the project is complete after talking about the role in a recent panel at Comic Com Revolution. The event took place late last month, and after discussing his work on the second season of Disney+ show The Mysterious Benedict Society, Hurst says he's also wrapped up the "last little tiny bit of God of War [Ragnarok] for Thor".
He then goes on to discuss how Sony pitched the role to him, with representatives visiting Hurst's house "for like five hours", where they broke down the story for the sequel and shared artwork. The narrative is said to be "super complex" and "a rich tapestry of stuff".
This is yet another hint that God of War Ragnarok is closing in on the development finishing line, with the game still slated for a 2022 release. Recent updates on the project include a South Korean age rating and developer Santa Monica Studio reiterating the sequel will indeed launch this year. Fans will turn towards this week's Summer Game Fest Live in the hopes of an update — whether that be a new trailer, gameplay clip, or a confirmed release date.

Tbh that seems kinda late for a game coming out this year.
But maybe it's just some last minute re-recordings or something.
They need to give a release day already. This game has to be massive if they are finishing Norse story.
I highly doubt we'll see this at Keighley's thing this week. I'm sure the release date with either get announced on the PS Blog or a dedicated State of Play.
Does not seem likely, though it really ought to be in the colder months soon or eventually. Cold april release might be awesome as well, though most likely nearing the end of a fiscal Q cycle.
135Gigabytes constraint, with the 90GB per Blu-Ray and 40ish buffer for updates-congruent additions to the original disc-based v1.0 game.
It has to, Sony likes their games to be relevant and next year there isn't a lot of room for that between RE4, Zelda, FF or even Spiderman and being a crossgen game doesn't help either because i'm sure it will look and play fantastic everyone involved are the best in what they do but it has to have some limitation for ps4 and most of the big games next year are next-gen only already.
I'm calling it now. If we don't have a release date this month, this game isn't coming out this year.
It's not coming this year we are in June & there's no sign of any new gameplay let alone a release date. Zero chance it comes this year
@KundaliniRising333 fully agreed I actually think it's a long way off
I refuse to play games that are not “a rich tapestry of stuff.”
Seriously, looking forward to this one. I am beginning to believe we will actually see it this year.
I can see it coming out right before Christmas.
…Maybe Christmas 2023, but it’ll be out before Christmas.
@WadeIsInsane your going to wait until September? Listen if there's no announcement of a release date by the end of this month its not coming this year. They aren't going to release the game this year & only give a few weeks notice! Trust me it's not coming until well into next year. We haven't seen or heard absolutely nothing in months.
@Th3solution that's the date I'm thinking Xmas 2023
@Westernwolf4 why are you thinking that? There's been nothing for months? What makes you think we see it this year?
In all honesty, I'm expecting this to release next Spring, Id be very surprised if we manage to get this game this year. If I was a betting man, I would say this is 2023 and they have made Last of us remake this year's heavy hitter.
How much notice do people need to buy something? I can easily see an August or even very early September release date reveal if it's coming out in November.
Still coming this year, State of Play July/August time, lets look forward to that.
@WadeIsInsane A lot of people are forgetting how Sony are doing things now. We saw a State of Play around a month or two before release for Returnal, R&C, Destruction All-Stars, HFW, GT 7.
This isn't out of the norm anymore, its just how Sony have done things this gen, I don't know why people are thinking it means a game will be delayed.
@WadeIsInsane if it was coming out this year it would be announced much earlier then September trust me. Games get announced months in advance especially big ones. It's not coming this year.
I can't wait to fight the fat dobber.
Regardless of when this game comes out, it will definitely be a big GOTY contender.
