Digimon has always had somewhat sinister undertones in the stories that it tells — even when it was primarily aimed at 90s kids here in the West — but Digimon Survive seems to be leaning into the creepier side of the franchise more than you might expect.
The game's launch trailer — it's out today on PS4, by the way! — deals with some spooky-looking stuff, and sets up a mystery that no doubt involves the digital monsters themselves. We must admit that we're looking forward to uncovering the darker side of this adventure.
Speaking of which, you may have noticed that we don't have a Digimon Survive review for you to read just yet — but if all goes to plan, we should have some impressions up on the site in the near future. Until then, let us know if you like Digimon Survive's strange premise in the comments section below.

It is a reallly bad sign that there are any reviews yet... not only here
Getting my physical copy tomorrow. I really hope the delays have been worth it as the Story games were fantastic.
The games have evolved with their audience unlike Pokemon which has been stuck in the past. Hacker’s Memory is downright depressing.
Still waiting for reviews but the trailers make it look very cool!
Due to the fact there have been ZERO reviews on launch day I've picked up Bear and Breakfast and Fuga Melodies of Steel which was on sale for less money than Digimon Survive costs. No big deal for me but they lost a day 1 sale from me because of no coverage, almost as if they want the game to fail😢
Because of all the delays, I really wanted to see how it reviewed. If you would’ve asked me three years ago or so, I would’ve said that I’d totally be a day one buyer, but then the delays came and then they tossed the release date on the day Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is releasing… it’s just… I’m not sure yet. I got XC3 first, but if not for the delays and total lack of previews, I’d probably be more excited.
@somnambulance As I said already to many people, not everybody has a Switch. Digimon is a multiplatform release.
not a big Digimon fan but I agree with what someone said in the comments...in that at least the Digimon games (dig)ivolve with their audience or at least they branch out to different genres of games.
I am intrigued by this game, waiting for reviews and likely a sale too.
if you're a big fan of the IP, then enjoy!
I'm getting hyped again! I like the feel of this trailer. Still wanna hold off for reviews though.
@somnambulance Same here, this was day one purchase for me back in 2019 but now I want know more about what I'm getting into before I buy. I still hope it will be good cause I'd like to play it!
@Sil_Am Fair enough. Still the loaded release schedule on Switch this week had me waiting to purchase Digimon Survive. That said, I’m really looking forward to reviews for the game, just so I know a little more about what it actually is. I feel like Bamco has been sort of cagey in showing it off.
@3Above @GorosBat @SeanOhOgain @Controller-Drift It is very alarming that it's Monday already and none of the gaming sites have published reviews.
I suspect the company didn't hand out any early review copies, they all had to buy the game with their own money.
@KidBoruto No, they didn't get review codes until day of release, also from what I've gathered, the game is about 80% visual novel. So I'd imagine the publisher did this to try to avoid spoilers.
@GorosBat That does explain alot, thanks for sharing!
