According to reliable but ultimately second hand sources, God of War Ragnarok was due to be dated for PS5 and PS4 this week. Reports corroborated by multiple noteworthy journalists suggest Sony had a PS Blog post lined up, with details on Collector’s Editions, pre-orders, and development progress ready to roll. After a change of plan was pre-empted by the previous entry’s director Cory Barlog, however, all hell broke loose.
Things turned particularly sour when it emerged that some unscrupulous “fans” had been sending penis pictures to employees in “exchange” for the release date. Ultimately, it’s all resulted in a strong statement from creator Sony Santa Monica demanding respect.
“Every single person at Santa Monica Studio is working to create game that we’re proud of, one that we hope you will enjoy playing once released,” it reads. “Our fans inspire us, and we understand the passion and desire for more information. But that passion should not be toxic nor come at the expense of any human being’s dignity. Let’s celebrate our community by treating each other, every gamer and developer alike, with respect.”
It shouldn’t be too difficult, should it?

Something we all need to be careful of in this case (but also in life generally) is to not allow a minuscule minority of idiots to skew the view of a community at large. There will always be idiots, in every walk of life… but there will also always be average joes and Josephines too… and geniuses and heroes (and villains).
Suddenly there is a undertone that the God of War fan base… and even the PlayStation fan base is toxic because of a couple of fools. Let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water!
I mean yeah sure, they shouldn’t have to endure abuse but it’s very naive not to expect it. The real GOW fans and the average gamer aren’t the ones sending d*ck pics or vulgar messages. But unfortunately the internet provides a platform for all manner of cretins (of which there are many out there). And that being the case, anyone who works in the entertainment industry should expect some form of abuse. The same way police investigations attract the nutters who come out of the woodwork and falsely declare themselves as the killer or whatever, wasting police time and resources. This isn’t a new phenomenon, sadly.
For a long time, looking forward to hearing something like a release date mattered to me. I want to play God of War Ragnaroc, but even if they announced it today there is a very good chance that I wouldn’t care. The only way I could care is if it was releasing in the next 3 weeks. Any further than that is to far to care about. I’m not trying to rush my life away.
Perhaps what humanity really needs is to have the internet completely shut off with the exception of medically necessary and national security reasons. In reality people are just complete crap and the internet exacerbated their stupidity and narcissism to insane degrees.
Just tell us if it's still coming this year or not surely they know if it's going to be ready or not also wonder if there's going to be drama surrounding the ps5 versions price & weather the free upgrade it's supposed to have will still be free
Social media has a tendency to amplify toxic opinions and the behaviour of some people is shameful.
I still believe most people are good and rational beings and for all our sanity we should just pay less attention to internet outrage.
Unfortunately, the media and corporations literally change their entire ethos and opinions around a minority of internet trolls.
My life would be so dramatically different if only I knew when God of War Ragnarok was being released. I'd probably be a millionaire.
I want this game as badly as everyone else but I’m ok if it slips to 2023 as I want it to be the best possible experience one upping GoW 2018.

**** posting at its finest. I love it
@Would_you_kindly Every game after forbidden west will be a 10-dollar upgrade. This has been confirmed for a while now.
jesus, get over it. Things get flung from small minds hiding behind screens every second of every day online.
To hear more from the developer regarding this, than the actual game in the last year is just as ridiculous
@colt3211 god of war was originally supposed to come out before forbidden west came out though
@KundaliniRising333 100% agree, I don’t agree with the online abuse but it feels like Santa Monica are trying to deflect.
I see we already have some embarrassing posts in here. Sigh.
why’s so hard to just be blunt and put people in their place they’re being too nice & for what .
makes no sense to me
@Uncharted2007 Where do I sign up and how do we contact Anonymous? I am SO into this plan. I'll vote for you!
@colonelkilgore The PlayStation fan base really is pretty toxic at large though since PS4. Not so much here these days but overall it's as bad as the 360 fan base was in the far. This gow thing is just a reminder. When a fan base reminds you of the Pokemon fan base, you know it's rock bottom. . It's become one of those fan bases I don't think I'd publicly admit being part of...
@NEStalgia is there any fanbase within gaming that isn’t a cesspool though ?
edit : well , unless we’re talking about indies , heh 😏
Them idiots are not a god of war fan.be patient and have fun.to many sh🤔t is going on right now to be harrasing people at santa Monica studio over a video game.when the game is ready.it will come.word up son
@WadeIsInsane I'm not really sure who Cory is it'd just be nice to get some information from the studio working on it
@LiamCroft Agreed. I will never understand why people see it as some sort of personal insult to call out idiots.
@LiamCroft how do you mean? I think most of these comments are spot on. It's a very small minority of crazy people doing this. That message put out by Santa Monica is only going to be heard by the 99.9% of the people that have done nothing wrong and are waiting patiently. The knuckleheads that are being crazy arnt going to read or care about their statement.
Just be normal people and let them finish their work in the end we will see the game when its done.
@Earthbound28 I believe they believe people would be smart enough to figure out that if you did not say anything its not adressed to you....
@Flaming_Kaiser I understand that but what I'm saying is that the people it is addressed to are going to read it or care...
@KundaliniRising333 Maybe its not so normal send dickpicks and death threats. And maybe people should not get over things that are a criminal offence. The people who defend that should take a long look in the mirror.
Embarassing behavior.
Its a video game yet people are complaining like its a matter of life or death.
Shocking
@Earthbound28 No but the basement dwellers will never do that but i totally get that they are done with this insane behaviour.
And as adult if you didnt do it im certain we can get over it like people here telling the developers to get over death threats and dickpicks.
@Flaming_Kaiser there are people harassing the parents of the victims of the Sandy Hook mass shooting fgs. A few idiots sending d*ck pics to a game developer is hardly surprising. Nothing shocks me anymore.

So many idiots out there, just need to be stopped. I also don't agree with these "leakers" dropping "expect xyz game announcement in xyz days", it just creates too much drama.
Doing this stuff isn't right, no matter who the devs are. They're all humans with feelings.
Apparently its not just god of war getting toxic hate, hypercharge are getting abuse from xbox fans on twitter as well just because of not announcing a release date yet
https://mobile.twitter.com/HyperchargeGame/status/1543261895712555010
@UltimateOtaku91 Fandom, across the board, is pretty bizarre.
@nomither6 sigh Undertale......... Not even indies are safe...
@Would_you_kindly Cory is the producer for God of War Ragnarok. Basically, if he says something about the game it’s 100% official since he’s the one in charge.
@NEStalgia The Undertale fandom isn’t toxic, just kinda cringe.
Just further proof that social media needs to go. Cory just came back from his Twitter hiatus and this is the garbage he has to deal with… I can’t wait until the game is out and the devs get the accolades they deserve while the Twitter monsters have a meltdown.
@Shstrick AHH okay I thought he was the dude who made the first game but someone else was making this one
I don't think it's "fans" that toxic about release date, it's just a-hole people that have nothing better to do on twitter. Or just twitter in general, the most toxic social media.
Why do communities always have to have the most pathetic people?
I mean... it's a step up from death threats?
Not trying to make excuses or scapegoat because if true then this makes me embarrassed to be a PlayStation fan….. but are we completely sure it’s exclusively God of War fans that’s expressing this disgusting behavior? Sure it’s disgusting for anyone to behave like this but it just feels odd to me.
It's such a shame. To the people that did this, it is okay to be passionate but dear God Almighty learn some self control. These people make the games you enjoy. What the heck do you gain by doing this? Please grow up and be better.
Got to hate how immature and pathetic a big subsection of the VG world is, like do these idiots actually think sending pictures like that would work? Is their IQ level that low? Santa Monica and Sony should make this a Police matter and set an example.
@Truee Oh it's absolutely not just PS fans. It's social media for literally everything because you can say anything with anonymity. The Obi Wan series recently had Star Wars fans going after the Reva actress personal social media accounts saying some pretty nasty stuff just because she was pretty terrible in the show. When you have massive fan bases there's always going to be some idiotic trolls so you can find examples of this for basically anything in pop culture. It's funny how you have the same people on this site who are constantly negative about everything PS wise who try and act like it's just a Playstation thing.
@nessisonett lol, define "not toxic" in this context. Bonus points remembering it's largely made of Mother fans 😬
@UltimateOtaku91 Nah it's not trolling by fans of competing products. Attacking your own fan source is the right way to fan. Same for sports teams where their own fans threaten them for losing etc. Remember the competitive smash and Pokemon fans.... Shudder
Fan is short for fanatic for a reason.....
@UltimateOtaku91 stop trying to pass the buck
A : the pic was sent by dm it was the person who received it that decided to tell everyone about it ....if it was a Xbox fan pretending to b a ps fan wouldn't they do it in public to get effect ?????? Yes so chances are yes it was a ps fan
B
that link u posted doesnt say it was Xbox fans who were abusing them it could have been ps fans doing it or even ps fans pretending to b Xbox fans so yet again why blame Xbox fans ? Cause Sony fans wouldn't do that right ??????
Anyone no matter what platform they like shouldn't b sending abuse to anyone ,it just shows what a lowlife they are
I think this highlights why apparent people of the community, that have connections to the inside, should be ignored, especially when it comes to events and announcements.
Can you imagine a group of people, putting a lot of effort to create a surprise for the community, but everybody now knows, because of a leak, so they must end up feeling disappointed. Or in this case, it's possibly a phantom announcement, we have no proof they were going to announce it. Hell, it could have been a employee's birthday party and someone heard "event or surprise on this date", oh, I'll tell someone. Or it could be someone just pulling out a date and going, there's a chance this is going to be the day, if I'm wrong, I'll say that they decided to delay it.
But yes, it's sad that this happens.
@Gravity_Bear with you on this 100% , All this crap over a game is mad, just because a few ppl who could be wrong decided to leak that is most prob bs then the sick ppl roll with it and all of a sudden it's all everyone else's fault and ppl get abuse for it ....what a sad stupid world
While it’s obvious that some so called ‘fans’ can go too far, there are legions more that don’t deserve to be lumped in with this bunch. I wish that those childish voices not be lifted and simply ignored by devs and media. Highlighting this garbage unfortunately always attracts more of it.
Oh calm down, it's joke not a di....wait a minute...
Crazy that it's spiraled out of control to this point. Not the end of the world if this game doesn't release until 2023 people.
Plenty of other games to experience...I should know with an unplayed backlog in the hundreds.
Social media was a mistake.
It is all just a backlash of too early marketing...
All those trailers, hypetrains, release date reveals and pushes, early merch (I already have Diablo 4 tshirt 😀 that thing will wear off until that game is even announced)... everything of this just fuels imaginary fire for average things which are forgotten soon after release.
So many people either being an apologist or asking for release date for game, grow up.
If I ever felt the need to send a peepee pic, it’d be like “Where’s Waldo?” but instead of Waldo, you’re trying to find my peepee. Anyways, it’s so weird people are doing that. Like come on, harassment is never cool. It’s not like they’re going to be “Oh my gosh everyone is sending me pics of weewees! Time to publish the game right away!!!!” Logic here is none- both for me and the toxic people
‘all hell broke loose.’
You got to love the drama on the internet.
Insiders being insiders and the media being the media.
Kids being kids and Twitter being Twitter.
‘all hell broke loose.’ 🙄🙄🙄
Move on to reality maybe. I always say to never interact with Twitter. It’s only good to follow factual information. Everyone (including the more common people) interacting with that thing will get burn so…don’t 🤷🏼♂️
Its pretty sad it has come to this. And a lot of this is "normal" nowadays on the internet in general /:
@velio84
Exactly right. Thank you for your comment.
I appreciate this site for allowing people to express themselves even if the limits of what can be said can be appalling sometimes. I also appreciate the staff responding in the comments.
However Push needs a really long look in the mirror on many levels.
Deleted my Social Media accounts years ago. Here, Nintendolife and PureXbox are the only places I interact with anyone on the internet. It's so much better that way. My mental health has increased significantly. Everything is reported on these sites/ in the news instantly anyway. You dont miss anything.
There are some real pieces of sh*t out there. Resorting to c*** shots, whatever next? They dont even deserve to get to play the game when its released. Just popped on to playstations IG site and the ammount of entitled cry baby's on there is rediculous "demanding" a release date for GOW. DEMANDING!
Its ready when its ready and thats the way it is. Tough titties.
Imagine getting that wound up by not finding out a release date of a game. It'll release when it releases. You'll buy it or you won't. The world will still turn, you'll still be taxed, life will go on.
The sense of entitlement some people have is just downright bizarre.
They don't owe you information and they don't work to your timeline.
Never gonna happen... But it would be hilarious if they just canned the project completely, imagine the scenes.
I hate to say it but ragnarok now relates to cyberpunk and I hope they don't give in to the Internet madness.
Some people are weird. Who cares when a game is released? It’s ready when it’s ready.
I’d be so annoyed to be working hard on this game then be getting sent d**k pics. I mean, where are the boob pics?
These people should have been sent a terrible jokey 8-bit style GoW game that stops them installing the full game when it is ready. Punish them for being terribly impatient.
If I was making this, I'd be putting all the d*** pics, along with the names and whatever meta data at the end of the credits. 🍌
@nookie_egg would probably be seen as a badge of honour by these mutants
Everyone should try to treat everybody else with respect, not just in gaming but in life in general.
The game will release when it is ready, there are plenty of other games to play in the meantime. Hope it does come out this year but if it's delayed then so be it. It's really not the end of the world.
@Arisen it doesn't relate to cyberpunk in any way, shape or form. I really wish people would stop comparing everything to CP2077. It's starting to get cringey!

I think like many here is that gowr will be absolutely stunning when it's released ,I personally have to much backlog to think when this is released hopefully its out this year but if its next year then I have ,to much to get on with anyway,as for team abuse not good obviously but hope the team behind gowr can get it finished properly to their standards in their time all the best to the
All the very best to the team behind it:)
Removed - discussing moderation; user is banned
@daveofduncan it does relate because people forced them to give them more info and release it early (Ofc it also had terrible development) .
@Jey887 Exactly. Initially, I joined Twitter for gaming news. Seeing how freaking fast the guys here at PS are, there's no need for me any more. Especially since the guys here have a good feeling about what is noteworthy to report and what isn't with all those rumors circulating around on a daily basis, it has become tiresome. Deleted my account long ago. All I see on Twitter is toxic fanboy BS everywhere.
Kratos clearly has some admirers, just how impassioned can you get. Those with the biggest hard on for the franchise can be quite revealing
Ok, so the hot takes are "there will always be idiots on the internet" and "it's just a few idiots". The problem with these responses is that we as a community essentially shrug and move on. I've never been harassed online and no one should be for working on a video game. Even if a minority of fans flung d*** pics at a developer, it could literally be millions. We need to be better to foster a better community, not just in gaming - see the recent Star Wars hate campaign too.
The internet may allow people to be toxic much more easily, but it allows the rest of us to be complacent too.
Once you create something great, there's a much greater chance that the absolute idiots of this world will like it, latch on to it, and then feel entitled to every aspect of your creation and act like you owe them all you can give. It's a sad reflection of the entitlement epidemic that is poisoning our world.
What surprises me is how these people seem to enjoy games and media that include strong messages and lessons of what it is to actually be human (even if they are a god damn god) and somehow manage to not learn and grow as a human themselves.
Removed - flaming/arguing
Sadly, toxic passion is what defines fanship to begin with.
@Martsmall it's not just the picture that got sent, santa Monica are getting a load of toxic abuse on twitter via comments and other dm's, if you're a fan of that game then why do that? It's obviously people who aren't interested in the game that are doing it, which would mainly be people from other platforms and not just xbox fans
@K1LLEGAL i didn't say I believed it was xbox fans doing it (to hypercharge) I was just pointing out that's its also happening to them about people giving them toxic hate for a release date from apparent xbox fans, but that won't get a news story about it though will it so then everyone will carry on believing its just the sony fan base that's toxic.
I don't think any of this extreme toxic hate towards both these companies are from its own fans, its juts twitter trolls and rival fan boys giving studios grief that they don't deserve.
@NEStalgia but there's a line a fan shouldn't cross, I mean I support arsenal and also banter them on twitter about how crap they are and that the manager should be sacked lol but I'd never send death threats and abusive dm's and crude images etc
These people aren't real fans
Removed - inappropriate language
Just polished the game!
Not highlighting will reduces trolling
@Martsmall what's sending crude pics got to do with wanting a release date though, I just can't fathom why a fan of something would do that, and if they are a fan of the game then they obviously have a screw loose and shouldn't be allowed on twitter and banned
@UltimateOtaku91 cause they want a release date and to be honest whoever sent it Is a 100% idiot like everyone that sends abuse
It don't help that it was posted a date was coming just because it was a rumour then more oh it's because blah blah it didn't get released bs just over bs rumour
I've even seen a few posts on here saying that Sony did it on purpose to annoy the leakers lmfao
I'm pretty sure Sony like making money and will make lots on preorders alone on the game I highly doubt they said you know what we don't want money we wanna annoy the leakers so let's put the date back
I agree ppl like that shouldn't but they are PS fans you don't seem to grasp they are and think ps fans wouldnt do that blah blah ...they are idiots no matter what console they prefer/own
The idiots sending d*** pics and shouting at the devs arent' gamers, they aren't fans and aren't excited for the game(s). They're scum who get off on being *****,and because they have a platform to do that and not have any come back, they'll carry on.
Sadly, because social media's aren't policed properly, and until it is.
The only way for anyone to stop this kind of crap is to post your news. And shut off all comments and replies.
Not fair for the 99% of decent civilisation, but life isn't fair.
Who do they think they are? Capcom?
Removed - flaming/arguing
@Would_you_kindly No it wasn’t and Cory has said multiple times that it is not delayed out of this year. If ur a true PS fan, u will be ok with this. We get bangers while the other platforms get half measures of a full game.
@Kienda
Nah. Most people aren't rational. I don't like the majority of people... unless they come from capcom.
@NEStalgia
Ah get out. You only dislike the fanbase because you are mostly wrong in the takes you make. Including this generalization you are making so other fanbases get brownie points
Sad they even have to make a statement like that.
I want to see 'proof' that the hate was really coming from PlayStation Fans??? Because one person who was being a bit off with Cory on Twitter had a 'GEARS & HALO 3' picture as his online avatar?!?! Hmm. I don't believe it was PlayStation Fans:-/ (Yes there are always one or two odd people out there but it could 'EASILY' be the people who hate everything SONY/PlayStation that are doing this. Take all the TLoU2 hate to last year??? NO way that was all PlayStation fans+the people who leaked the story of the game to)
@K1LLEGAL
I'm playing like a dragon and it's off the rails. Really like the game
It seems oddly familiar with some tactics MS used to gain dominance over PC market a long time ago.
Wtf happens in one's head, for it to go from a game release date to a p*nis pic?? Is it because word date was in the air and they instantly got aroused?
Anyway, it's sad that it ever happened. Little bit of mutual respect between fans and developers should be a given.
@Carl-G TLOU2 got some hate for no apparent reason to me. It's a phenomenon worth exploring from psychiatric standpoint.
Fandoms always have those toxic entitled brats, I just don't know why they expected theirs to be any different. That's just the internet and it will never change
@CapGod Very nice 👌 First couple of chapters felt slow but that game became one of my favourites in recent years. Awesome characters. I even got all the achievements. Enjoy! (And yea it’s bat-***** crazy).
Twitter is poison, the worst of all social media.
Yes seriously there are some idiots out there that really need to grow up. The game will be ready when it's ready. If the game came out unfinished these would be the same idiots slagging it off!!
@Cikajovazmaj the problem with TLoU2 backlash is that it was mostly rational people who disliked the direction the story was taken - then there were the bigots and homophobes. But somehow they were seen as being the same thing and lumped together in the same group. So if you genuinely disliked TLoU2’s story choices, you were instantly labelled a ‘hater’ or worse. Which of course lead to many heated arguments on the internet 🤷♂️
@Axelay71 not to make excuses for this kind of behaviour but this could have been avoided if the developer was more open with fans. Why all the secrecy?
We keep seeing articles posted here bemoaning Sony’s lack of communication with fans - I imagine many feel the same way when it comes to their favourite games. I’m not talking about the crazy p*nis pic senders - I’m talking about the average gamer who’s chomping at the bit for more info. Saying, ‘it’s ready when it’s ready’ doesn’t really help matters.
@Uncharted2007 this. We gave people Internet far too soon. It's a wonderful tool that's ultimately squandered and abused by humanity... the equivalent of giving a chimpanzee a lazer bazooka to get fruit from trees.
D!ck pics, the ultimate way to get things done, faster! When my pizza was late, d*ck pic. My doctor busy with some new patients, d*ck pic. Waiting on my delivery, d*ck pic! Thank you, sony fanboys, for showing the way🙄
Oh, the irony of people coming on a PushSquare comment section questioning the existence of toxic Sony fanboys hahah.
@GagaOooLaLa see your point but obviously some haven't got a life but video games. I love gaming big time but I have a job, a family, other things more important than to be toxic to games developers.
Just annoce the delay it's boring now. Credit to Microsoft for announcing thr starfield delay we'll in advance.
@commentlife sony fans are the most toxic I have seen. Seriously weird people.
@K1LLEGAL
Yeah. It was a bit slow at first but now you want to do a lot of stuff. I'm 36 hours in and still on chapter 10.
@Cikajovazmaj
Tlou2 haters. Ugh. One of the dumbest bunch from video game communities I've seen.
Tlou 1 haters were still arguing about the game 7 years later. That's what comes with the territory of being one, if not the best video game studio.
@Ryany
I'd say that sony fans are more confident and cocky and it can come as azz wholes in some scenarios. They are also more entitled and ask for more when it comes to games. I've seen people here complain about sony wrong moves pretty often.
Nintendo for me are the weirdest. A lot of them smell or are the typical don't do chores at the house kind of guys. Oh and if Nintendo wants to go over them with a truck in exchange for a game, they'll do it.
Xbox are just cheap and are fine with things being less.
But that's just some small things in the grand scheme of it all. We have more things in common.
@Ryany said the person being toxic on a Playstation news website lol
@playstation1995
at least someone who still understands. what a world we live in nowadays.
Generalizations are bad and people who make them should feel bad. But they don't! (*insert meme).
I mean it’s all rather depressingly simple:
If you take a random selection of global society, you’ll get everyone from peaceful quiet people, to people who’ve committed unspeakable crimes and everything in between.
So, seeing as social media allows said people to join, it’s likely social media will reflect everything about society too, from the good and the bad.
The problem comes with the fact that unlike in say a physical dispute, there’s no real recourse for a lot of behaviour online.
Behaviour like this I see online is disgusting, and inexcusable, but sadly it’s also no different to what one would expect when taking millions, if not a few billion humans, giving them anonymity and a milk crate to stand on.
Maybe the British MP I heard many moons ago was correct, maybe we may have to go the route of taking ID upon registration for these services.
I’ve known a fair few people in my life that wouldn’t have said what they did online if they had their real ID linked to it, so that they can be easily traced and persecuted.
I have to show ID to do many things potentially damaged to myself or others. From driving to all sorts.
Until the human race shows it’s capable of not being irresponsible with what freedoms it’s given, then it’s probably best to not trust you when large swaths of it are given a loudspeaker and anonymity.
I don’t like the idea of a literal nanny state, but when I see people all around me acting like they need a nanny, maybe it’s one of the only quick solutions we have.
The other would be education through parenting and schools, but having a 12 year old myself, I know if it wasn’t for my child being told by us how the world really works and the dangers, the school would just concentrate on teaching how to paint an apple with the correct lighting and ignore the worlds problems.
The internet isn’t the issue, same as a parked car doesn’t pile into a pedestrian of its own accord.
But until we learn how to function as a society without wanting to hurt, injure and kill one another, it’s either cut off the platform for all or police it.
All this over a game as well, it’s not like these people are trying to make a stand on a human rights case, it’s a video game, a bunch of pixels with no real world value if it wasn’t for a sticker showing an arbitrary price.
@TheElectroFunky you mean like Voter ID? Never going to happen.
Well, I say ‘never’ but you just don’t know these days 👀
Removed - flaming/arguing; user is banned
@GagaOooLaLa Yeah, sadly people panic and use excuses when having to show ID for basic things. When it comes to voting, that’s a legal right every citizen in most democracies have, a Twitter account isn’t a legal right.
I can’t just walk into a Gap store and call the lady behind the counter a random insult, get my wang out without being arrested, asked for ID, and likely fined or jailed etc.
So we need to start tackling this behaviour head on, because so far, since the invention of the internet, saying it’s a small slice of society and ignoring it isn’t working. Children commit suicide due to what’s said online, and in some cases the people who’ve said it can’t even be traced.
I mean look at how people panicked when they knew they could be reported on a PS5 and recorded. They’re using another companies services, and servers, but don’t like playing by said companies rules.
That’s the issue, no one wants to be ruled yet portions of society keep displaying a lack of common sense and direction. So something needs to be done, because this situation isn’t getting better because Cory Barlog swears a bit and acts dramatic. It’s not like that’s going to shut the idiots up. There needs to be tangible recourse for a persons actions.
@GagaOooLaLa Basically I’m not saying I have a solution as such, but I sure as sh1t know doing nothing is the worst option, and the one society keeps taking when it comes to managing society online.

@PhhhCough this is the problem with social media, especially something like Twitter. It magnifies the power of a few morons well beyond what their reach would have been back in the day.
The reality is most gamers are good people who just want to play good games. Something like Twitter makes insufferable loudmouths (regardless of topic) much more prominent than they otherwise would be.
I hate Twitter and all social media in general. But especially Twitter.

@TommyNL. Definitely.when the game is ready.it will be ready.word up son

@Saitama117 eh? That makes no sense? This game is obviously going to be a rather large affair by all accounts and thats why its taking so long..if they brought this out over a year ago i dread to think what condition it would be in and i also dread to think what they would get sent instead of genital pics..
Omg stop trying to police the masses it’s impossible. Stop acting like this is your first venture on the internet ignore the bad and move on with your day. The more you lecture the more you’re inviting trolling. This isn’t new, hard, or a big deal.
If website stopped publishing the rumour mill then really the world would be better. Nothing worse that a “journalist” getting exposure for exposing the date of a maybe going to be announced update on a game in development that is going to release sometime in the future.

I couldn't care less about god of war, but this whole initial story makes absolutely zero sense. As if sending such pictures would produce the desired result. 🤦♂️ Some people are beyond any rational thought. 🤦♂️
The people doing this are as bad as some of the people in this comments section at times. Grow up.
@UltimateOtaku91 agreed, definitely, I just mean these kinds of fans are definitely people that like the product/team and aren't trolls from competing fandoms stirring trouble. It's common in all things with fans. Some are irrationally personally attached in bizarre dangerous ways.
@Col_McCafferty haha, nah, I've just been around all the fandoms long enough to know when they're all sucking
I can't disagree too much with your list though, lol. Pokesmash and especially PS4 era ps has to make the list though...
LOL I love the internet - a thread about being nice on the internet descends into chaos with people being mean to each other.
Every decent nice person should delete Twitter and Facebook and leave the idiots to it.

I’ve come to the realization that if I always expect the worst from humanity then I’ll never be disappointed. Furthermore, yes it’s a small minority but that doesn’t mean it should go unchecked. If we would apply that line of thinking to things imagine what we’d shrug off and let slide?
@Stocksy I hear you. I’ve never had Twitter and deleted Facebook in 2016 and have never gone back. I even hate when news sources refer Twitter in their stories. I’m not on Twitter because I don’t wanna hear about Twitter!
@BritneyfR_ee I am kinda baffled so abuse and death threats are normal now. And maybe just maybe dont try to make a point with the lowest of the low of society.
@AhmadSumadi i used facebook for a very short time around early 2007 when i was working at music zone and it was apparant very early on it was going to be a cess pool so i removed my account..never used twitter or that one the tory politicians favour instagrope or is it instagrab?
@Ryany Don't confuse fans with fanboys.
@AhmadSumadi Twitter on paper is one of the most amazing ideas ever. Unite the world. Breakdown barriers.
You add in humans and human nature and it’s the worst thing. Not ever. But it is rubbish lol
Ha the mess that this comment section has become is glorious.
The internet eh, wonderful...
I'm heartened by how much of the push community knows humanity is garbage 😆
@PoopScoop The 360 fan base really was abominable. And they actively courted that demographic at the time. Ps3 fan base was so nice. Unfortunately when x1 was a disaster, most of those toxic 360 fans moved to PS4 and turned the ps fan base into the same toxic morass . Obviously it's not everyone, it even most, it's a big market, but it's always a visible element online. It wasn't like that in the ps3 days. Well, not as much anyway. Underdog console communities are usually the best, socially. Except wiiu port beggars 😂
@Flaming_Kaiser “so abuse and death threats are normal now[?]” - on the internet? Yes. Unfortunately. It’s everywhere. Particularly if you’re working in the entertainment industry. And strangely it’s not just one side of the political spectrum either. I believe the author of the Harry Potter books has been receiving death threats for a while now too. The fact is, there are crazy people everywhere and the internet gives them a platform to verbally abuse and make death threats with complete anonymity.
It's the Internet, so good luck with that.
@UltimateOtaku91 this poster dosnt speak for me..i've read your posts on this topic and i cant see your supposed hatred for xbox..you are voicing your oppinion but its not allowed remember...

@Microbius I'm not saying there's no playstation fans that aren't doing it, but I'm saying to me it's a majority of people who aren't interested in playstation that are fanning the flames on twitter, there are those that want to see Sony fail as well and fans on other consoles that have a trollish attitude towards playstation who would use this god of war release date fiasco as an excuse to add injury to insult and would be happy to see santa monica under stress.
Just like How's there's loads of sony fanboys who flocked to twitter to bash starfield for it's delay
Odd how the conversation became console war fodder. This isn't a console war problem, it's the gaming community as a whole problem.
I don't care which plastic box full of electronics you hail as the supreme being in your life; the kind of behavior being displayed by the gaming community is bloody ridiculous.
People really need to do better.
Chill the [expletive] out!
Giving this exposure and making it a big deal by projecting it in the whole community rather than some trolls who will always be trolls will do nothing but motivate them to do it more.
It's a really bad move.
You ignore trolls, you don't feed them.
@Nem it seems so bizarre, what sort of logic is rude pics for a release date?
Surely the work of a very out of the box individual than a social trend? At least I very much hope so.
I am a gamer, and often ashamed to call myself so when you see the comments and behaviour from other gamers on the net.
Jesus Christ, that's a lot of removed comments, what the hell's going on in here?
@ThatMusicFan I agree, console wars have nothing to do with this. It's a lack of human decency. Don't go around showing your c*ck off to people you don't even know, especially if it's over a video game.
@Culjoseth it was originally supposed to release in 2021 , forbidden west didn't release until February 2022 so yes it was
@Arisen it wasn't people on Twitter that 'forced' cdpr to release cyberpunk in the state it released it was just greed from management & they probably thought they'd get away with it because publishers have been doing it for decades like Bethesda
@PhhhCough I could see the lonely Island making that a song lol

@UltimateOtaku91 I really don't think there's a need to look for conspiracy theories about how this type of thing is sabotage by other console fans. It's not that unusual among fan obsessions beyond gaming, sadly. People suck....
@Bismarck guess we'll know soon enough 🤣
@NEStalgia maybe yeah, to me a fan of something just doesn't turn on the thing they are a fan of over something so trivial as a release date. I'd agree that some of these people might be playstation owners but I definitely wouldn't class them as fans.
@Stocksy twitter's a horrible platform I don't think there's anything social about it , it just seems to be a site that spreads outrage & fear
@UltimateOtaku91 it's like the fans of celebrities that attack them or try to kidnap them or something. Idk what the psychology is but my assumption is there's a sense of ownership by some sect of fans that feels the object of their fandom belongs to them because they're such a big fan, and they have a right to control it/them. If "your" celebrity does something you don't approve of they get attacked. If "your" game dev doesn't release when you think they should, they get.... Low grade free porn? 🤔
Some fandoms are worse than others. Some games devs get death threats upon delay. Others just go under the radar fine. GoW seems to have drawn some of the worst for some reason. My theory is the father and son theme has drawn a lot of people with "issues" they've coupled to the game and take the game a some personal absolution or something. Could be overthinking it. Could just be popular thing draws the worst crowds.
@UltimateOtaku91 get real. Sony fans need to be held accountable for this kind of behavior and it’s generally said that of all the fan bases Sony is the most toxic
I am absolutely disgusted. I’ve been seeing Cory Barlog tweet about this and other game devs. This is why 90% of gamers are either virgins or haven’t touched grass in a while, they’re too busy obsessing over games and harassing developers.
@MacRider the thing that should not be discussed or commented upon happend thats what..
.1% of 10 million is still thousands of people. That’s a lot of penis pics.
@Would_you_kindly HFW was suppose to release in 2021 also, so NO it wasn’t. Learn facts first before speaking. It will help ur image.
Reading this comment thread was a mistake. leaves
@Would_you_kindly yeah that’s coz humans use it. Comment sections, Facebook, insta, email, apps that let you message. All of them become toxic as soon as humans get near it. Smaller online communities work all the while they stay small. On paper Twitter should be awesome. In reality it’s a horror show. Bit like democracy.
@Akurusu I’m not sure I agree. All of them seem as toxic as each other to me. Size of fan base might mean it seems that way. It’s like politics all sides are toxic in their extremes. Often the persons leaning decides which one they think is worse.
Do yourselves a favour and get off social media. It really is bringing down civilization. And people's iq points.
@Culjoseth I know it was but if you actually read my comment it says it was supposed to release before forbidden west released not before forbidden wests original intended release date.
@Stocksy The Xbox fanbase usually leaves people alone until you bother them. Nintendo fanbase causes problems within their own fanbase. PlayStation fanbase tends to go after and attack other people and mention Xbox when they’re not even relevant to the conversation. There are tons of Pro PlayStation accounts that mock everything that isn’t on PlayStation. That’s how you can tell who the virgins are.
@Akurusu calling people "virgins" isnt really helping..i'm sure there is a better way for you to get your point across other than calling people virgins..
@BritneyfR_ee If you accept that thats on you. I have been raised to a standard and i will never accept this as normal. I dont care a few basement dwellers do this or even if everyone does it raise you kids and dont accept horrible behavior.
@Akurusu Xbox fans are not that bad get out of here.
@Balosi Of course it is. They should just block those people, ignore them and move on. Instead, they now know they hit their targets and will do again.
Removed - trolling/baiting
@Akurusu okay i'm a really big fan of elden ring and i'm certainly no virgin you little miscreant..what you are doing is using that word in an inflamatory way which is showing a level of maturity that equals those who are harrassing the devs and others..grow up and use your vernacular in a better more constructive manner please..
@Northern_munkey That doesn’t apply to every Elden Ring player. I’m a Souls fan but I’m talking about the people who don’t see daylight and ridicule people who make the game easier on themselves. Like the ones who belittle people for making the games easier by using summons or bleed weapons. I once read a post about a guy who’s girlfriend seemingly left him or got into an argument because he told her she was playing the game wrong.
And I said virgin as a joke. It’s not trolling nor is it meant to be taken seriously. I use that word the same way people on here use terms like chad or basement dweller alongside it
@Akurusu fair enough..lets move on yes and have a good weekend..the weathers good and i've got lots to play and golf to play..enjoy 👍
@Northern_munkey It makes perfect sense. They set up way too much stuff story wise in the last game to see through completely in this one. This game is going to be a let down. It didn't have to be though.
@Saitama117 no it still makes no sense
@Northern_munkey Then you've been cursed with a smooth brain that's incapable of comprehending simple and easy to understand concepts.
@Saitama117 no need for insults...
@Saitama117 "They could've had this game out over a year ago and been working on the next one if they had just stuck with a trilogy." Not sure how you think they could have had ragnarok out over a year ago unless you know for certain it was near to being finished...are you? Stuck with a trilogy? You are aware that requires 3 games in the current series as so far there has only been one so where are the other 2 games if this is the 4th? Please tell us so we can go purchase them and get ourselves up to speed..they have barely scratched the surface of kratos and atreus's story in the first and there is so much more norse lore that can be covered in future entrys into the series..this is why your comment makes no sense and now you have to resort to insulting somebody because they point this out to you..this reaction tells me you are very immature and obviously not really fit to be engaging in a rounded, sensible discussion with your fellow humans..i was not nasty or rude to you in my responses so i'm not sure why you think its okay to try and be "edgey" in your last comment..you just sound desperate and childish...have a good week pal 👍
@Northern_munkey It's pretty simple. They set up too much stuff in the last game to see through in this one. Had they turned the Norse saga into a trilogy, rather than a bilogy or whatever you call something with only two entries, we could've had the second game in the saga released already and they could've been working on a satisfying ending to an incredible story.
You do know that the Norse saga is over after Ragnarok, right? This is it. How are they going to cover more of the Norse lore when it's over after this? You really should get that smooth brain of yours checked out by a doctor.
@Saitama117 well thanks for the history lesson..yes norse mythology is over after ragnarok but that dosnt mean it has to be one game..they could quite easily spread the end of the world over multiple entries..i stand by my intial response in that your original comment makes no sense at all in the way you worded it and your further replies have been insulting and immature..wtf is a smooth brain anyway? If only your parents had used birth control i would have been spared this mundane and quite frankly silly conversation with you..
@Northern_munkey You're hopeless. Cory Barlog already said they're done with the Norse story after this game. Get a clue, dude.
@Saitama117 👍good talk..
@Northern_munkey As good as any conversation with a smooth brained, mouth breathing, knuckle dragger could go I suppose. If you support Ukraine, why aren't you fighting on the front lines? Quit wasting your time arguing with strangers on the internet about video games and go defend their freedom.
