HYPE!
Yesssss!!!!!! Omg the hype is alive
Never in doubt.
😉
Very cool news, definitely a Day One purchase for me and will look to book that day off.
Oh man, been waiting years and it's gonna drop during my first holiday since covid! Going to be all over it once I get home...
Looking forward to this. Enjoyed 2018 and got the plat
CG trailer is fine with me as I hope they don't release another second of gameplay.
We're all gonna get it regardless.
4 months away! Can't wait, hope they don't say a single thing more about it until release!
Ooh can’t wait
Would have liked a little bit of gameplay but hey, it’s coming out this year.
Apparently I just had a visible reaction to this news in a zoom meeting.
Show me the editions!!!!
Looking forward to this now. Wasn’t a fan of the first originally and bailed part way through, but just gave it another shot thanks to PS+ and enjoyed it waaaaay more this time - to the point I’m now just one trophy off the platinum.
And I was just about to send a d*ckpic... Damn it
Didn’t Starfield have a “confirmed” release date of November too? Sorry, I still reckon GoW will slip into 2023…but by god I hope I’m wrong! When we see an article that says “God of War Ragnarok has gone gold” then I’ll get excited 😜
Not sure why there was no state of play for this if you think how much deathloop was shoved down our throats. I feel God of War hasn't gotten much love from Sony.
On a Wednesday? Thats a first I think. Should have been 2 days later Imho haha
Maybe now we can stop sending d*** pics to the dev team? Surely we can stop doing that right?
Now we're talking! This is it, y'all. Ragnarok is coming. Who's ready?
@Amusei I already did
Yaay, looking forward! November as everyone expected.
Of course Sony again just randomly drops the big news... classic randomness.
Release on a Wednesday? Makes me think they didn't want the leak of 11/11 to be proven accurate.
@paulbuck1996 Thank you! You're a peach.
Need this meeting to end so I can check.
I'm still sad that this is cross gen rather a PS5 exclusive.
I await Stevivor's 6/10 review with baited breath.
Was it necessary to delay that announcement by 5 days lol
Unsolicited inappropriate images work!!1 Now time to try it on government!
Though....4 months away and it's a CGI trailer? That' seems really strange.
@Amusei 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Winter just got that much more bearable 😄
Ima say it, I did not predict this to actually come out this year, happy to be wrong!
@Amusei my inbox is open
Can’t wait for this! Day one!
Awesome, out of left field but so hype now!
Lmao, wheres all the doubters who swore blind this would be delayed til 2023?
Seriously though this is turning out to be one heck of year to be a playstation gamer, uncharted collection, uncharted film, gran turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, PS plus revamp, Stray, TLOU remake, valkyrie Elysium, Forspoken, PSVR2 and now God of war Ragnarok
@Sqush-Pare At least it won't be another undeserved 10/10
Wasn't a fan of 2018 so my hype level for this is a firm "meh"
But I'll give 2018 another bash over the next couple of months to see if I can get into it.
Between this and Horizon, always feel quite bad for disliking two of the biggest franchises on PlayStation at the minute 😂
Yay, pre-orders don't launch while I'm away either!
@Nightcrawler71 a year before, not 3 months…
Very cool! That date works well for my schedule so far in November. The only thing is I got like 4 games God of War included fighting for my November slot. I'm still undecided for now. Hope to see some gameplay here soon.
@kyleforrester87 👍 feedback is very much appreciated
Nice! I’ll probably pick it up day one if the reviews checks out but I’m sure as hell not pre-ordering. Did that with HFW and then performance mode turned out to be a bust for months.
AMEN! It's finally upon us ❤
@UltimateOtaku91
Ok my business strategy was wrong that said 2023.
But hey I have never been so happy being wrong 😊
Fenrir looks majestic! So glad the game is coming out this year.
Thats the correct way to do it. Don't put out speclative dates, only say something when its less than 6 months away.
I believe this will every bit as excellent as I want it to be! Hype!
Looking forward to the inevitable SOP in 3 months.
because of the amount of drama around the release date i thought there would be a state of play which told us the release date.
I thought there would be more fan fare, i wasnt just expecting a trailer on a random wednesday lol
Well, maybe I’ll get caught up in the hype and give the original another shot. Got about 2 hours in and bailed on it last time.
WOOOHOOO!!! So hyped!!!!!!
If this stays on track, it could be my Christmas game of the year. That's assuming that Instinction gets delayed.
Second note... that wolf boss fight looks like it's going to be epic.
@Dezzy70 there’s still time for a delay - let’s not allow ourselves to become too positive now 😂
Nice. I'm so glad I'm not one of those people who spent the whole year saying it would be delayed.
I bet I'd feel pretty darn stupid right now.
Can they at least not release Hogwarts Legacy too close haha. At least push to December please! Otherwise I might end up with another Horizon/Elden Ring war (for my time).
Brilliant news-really excited for this.
Yes that's great gaming news ,another big one before end of 2022 and this year has been awesome to be a playstation gamer only 4 months away wonderful stuff:)
@bindiana well, I guess GoW is a «little» more known brand, so over hyping it isn’t neccessary.
@nessisonett The problem with a gameplay trailer is that it will most likely be taken from the beginning of the game... Which will most likely resemble the gameplay of 2018...which will create the narrative that its just like dlc.
It appears the collector's edition doesn't come with a game disc...
Sweeeeet! Looking forward to this!
The only game that can beat Elden Ring, so hyped.
Looks great! Although I am not super fan of the 2018 iteration (I didn't adapted too well to the new form of gameplay), I am hyped nevertheless.
It seems like 2022 will end with a blast!
@BritneyfR_ee
Surely we are there now, even I’m not that pessimistic 😂
Finally. Now maybe people can chill the hell out.
I would consider preordering but given that Horizon Forbidden West got so many great post-release performance enhancements in the form of: 40hz mode, VRR support andgeneral improvements to performance mode, I think I may hold off and see what is delivered out the box before making my purchase.
@Nightcrawler71 what happened to starfield?
Great news that it's still coming out this year, just hope they don't enrage the internet by having to delay again at the last minute. Hopefully getting it at launch but realistically i might have to wait for the new year, we'll see.
As I only played God of War after Elden Ring, (Possibly the only person that can say that haha) all I can say is I hope they double down on the big boss fights in GoW Ragnarok. I loved God of War, but I felt it needed a few more big encounters, rather than the repeated Giant Troll mini boss encounters.
I would have happily fought Jeremy Davies all day, multiple times across even more landscapes too.
So yes, give me Fenrir, give me Thor, Give me Odin, give me beasts and god's of epic proportions! Give me a nightmare induced fight against Zeus.
But also give me a year or two, don't feel the need to get this at release 😅

@Ryany no one's going to care enough about what you said to come back in 4 months from now, when it releases, to say "you're wrong" 😅 Low risk comment of the day 👍
Looks like I was right, game is coming in November
Living in Denmark, playing this during the dark autumn/winter hours will def be a treat.
@Bismarck I'm predicting many 10/10 scores, will it be genuinely worth 10? I honestly can't say but I've no doubt at all it will get many and will most certainly be among the highest rated games in 2022.
@Ryany can't wait to see what you say on the 8th November when everyone's playing god of war Ragnarok.
Or will you coincidently not be on the Internet that day
That’s nice but it’s too far out to care about. No, I won’t preorder.
Very, nice! This should shape up to be a great year for PlayStation.
Get ready Boy
very poor cgi trailer. they should have hit us with a meaty gameplay trailer but OK. i predict this game will come in hot with many bugs at launch but oh well
Damn, Forspoken got delayed to January 24th, 2023
Cool.Kratos the 👑 🐐 goat is coming with his son on another legendary adventure.cant wait for another masterpiece.word up son

What’s funny is when Push was going on about delay rumours from ‘European sources’ I commented the game will release on 11.11.22 and it was deleted for (checks notes 😅) ‘un constructive comment’. I was only 2 days off 😛
Fantastic news. Glad I never paid attention to those "insiders".
God Of War has always been a day 1 purchase for me and may still be, but I won’t be able to get to it until January or February of ‘23. At the end of October I’m grabbing Gotham Knights on day 1 and I’ve already pre-ordered the digital deluxe edition of The Callisto Protocol which comes out right at the beginning of December so, I’ll likely play Ragnarok when I’m done with Callisto and before I tackle Dead Space remake at the end of January.
@get2sammyb I was going to ask when we get the article about buying the PS4 version to save $10 but I guess instead we'll be getting the Soapbox about how Sony looks bad by charging $10 to upgrade. I wonder if that $10 gets us Greek lip sync?
"If you purchase the God of War Ragnarök standard edition for PlayStation 4, you can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for $10 USD (or currency equivalent)."
https://blog.playstation.com/2022/07/06/god-of-war-ragnarok-collectors-edition-unboxing/
Will pre-order digitally few days before release to pre-load.
And you all (as in 'the internet') said it was going to be delayed.
A lesson in life, don't listen to the naysayers, they will always drag you down.
Release dates is great and all, but man this trailer was just dumb. Its one of those trailers released a month before the game releases after having already shown previews and had q/a's on the game.
Thus far we have next to nothing detailed about it, and yet Sony just randomly drops the release date, and a delay for Forspoken is announced same day. Obvious what went on here, however I am baffled that these first party developers continue to hide their products for fear of criticism / feedback.
The LOU remaster disguised as a remake will do the same because they know those that can be objective see that this is just a cash grab.
However, with GOW we already know it's a cross gen game using the same visual features as the game 4 years ago, we already got the sting of Sony lying about generations and deceptively portraying many of their upcoming first party titles as current gen games, ..... so there really isn't any reason not to show off what you are doing at this point with GOW. The disappointments from Sony and these developers have come and gone.
@Dudditz09
I understand. I was in the same boat for GOW 2018. It took me five tries for it to finally click.
@Ravix I'll come back don't you worry
@UltimateOtaku91 I'll come back to laugh at you when the game is delayed
@KundaliniRising333 The CGI-only trailer is strange to me. They've shown little in-engine gameplay at all. Usually CGI trailers means it's not close to done. MS caught endless grief for their CGI-fest E3's because their games were years off. People predicted, accurately, that Starfield was delayed because all they'd seen is CGI and no gameplay. Yet here we are with a delayed Starfield, but significant gameplay shown, and a CGI trailer for GoWR 4 months before the announced release.
I'm sure the game's not unfinished, and I'm sure the issue is it mostly looks like the 4 year old game because it's still part of the 4 year old game. But we already know that and expect that, and the little gameplay we did see last year, looked visually last gen, so it's a known quantity. Which is ok because we know what the game is, take it or leave it.
So either they're "managing the conversation" by not showing, again, that it looks dated, letting people speculate, and just dropping it as-is knowing sales and hype will drive it better without months of internet discussion on it looking dated. Or they've quietly enhanced it since we last saw it and don't want to drop that secret until closer. But NOT promoting hype would seem strange, but maybe they just want to save that for the assumed September SoP.
The whole thing is strange. Even from a cynical angle it really doesn't make much sense to do the CGI trailer thing.
@SplooshDmg LOL you've become a PCMR Brony faster than @UltimateOtaku91 went hard into Pony-land

@NEStalgia they will save a gameplay blowout for a state of play im guessing.
@NEStalgia hey just doing what I do best 😉
@Ryany Twitter is where you belong my friend, you'd fit right in over there
@Ryany great ambition haha, really can't fault the effort 👍
@UltimateOtaku91 I'm on instagram don't do twitter
I want to be excited for this, but the PS4 version restricting it like the original was restricted just makes it harder for me to really care. This should have been such an easy pre-order, but I just don't care enough. A sequel to a 10/10 game not being a pre-order is a really bad sign...
@Jaxx420 Yeah, that's the only logical assumption, really. But it's all still strange to have made this CGI trailer at all and announced it like this. Even if they're planning on showing it in a SoP, I'm not sure why it would hurt to show some now (or nothing at all and just announce the date), let alone having to put time and effort into making this unnecessary CGI. I can't think of a time in recent memory a soon-to-launch game got a CGI trailer with little to no gameplay. Add in all the leaks/rumors/controversy and it's all just plain strange how this announcement went.
@SplooshDmg Yup
@NEStalgia I dont think the state of play will be far behind this. But I agree.
I think this was driven more by all the vitriol the devs got for missing an initial announcement date. Never seen that before either.
Hopefully this one eliminates the “playing in a hallway” that the first one was set back by plus is less arcade style button mashy with the same combo repeated ad nauseam. Graphics and story were dope but the two things I mentioned killed the experience for me. I reckon with the upgraded hardware of the Ps5 it might be what I’d need it to be though. Defs be checking it out 👌
@Ryany
Not sure which country you’re from, but freedom of speech applies to the government and it’s various entities.
Im in the United States. Despite the first amendment I can be fired from my job for posting things publicly that bring dishonor or public shame against my workplace.
However, the government cannot take action against me for saying that they are useless trash.
That’s how free speech works. This site is privately owned. Meaning they determine what is and is not acceptable speech.
This news made my day great and it began very meh. Less go kratos!
What a year for PlayStation exclusives! And Elder Ring this year too, all in game pass day 1 😂😂😂
@NEStalgia Yea, this does not look too good (releasing a cinematic trailer.) Honestly even if we got gameplay, best I can do is hope it launches in a solid state. Even with said hopes, I'm not jumping into this anytime near launch. Did that with Horizon Forbidden West day one and they still patching bugs, making me regret the day one purchase.
They obviously were on the fence about whether they could meet the date or not to finally make the announcement, so it sounds to me this game is going to be coming extremely hot out of the oven.
@Playstationuser and more bosses with variety. For a series that was known for its epic boss battles, GoW boss fights were too few and too samey.
Just in time for GOTY competition for Elden Ring, but won’t beat it
@Tharsman Yeah, definitely. What I can't understand, though, is HOW this game could be 4 years in the making, and still be on such shaky ground. It started as DLC. It's limited by the same tech at heart. The team is experienced. It shouldn't be a 343i-type cluster. Unless it's now a big open world type thing and not a corridor slasher, and they had a hard time adapting the design. But the limited play we saw looked like the familiar corridor slasher.
@Playstationuser I'm sure they made improvements, and it's a different director, but, it's still a PS4 game. The PS5 can make it look flashier, and can make loading faster, but all the same constraints PS4 hardware caused will still have to be present. Be it slipping through narrow passages over and over, corridors, or whatnot. The same limitations apply, and the game started as DLC for the previous, so it can't stray far from the original design. I'm sure there will be some amount of directional improvement though.
The corridors were weirdly PS2. But the lack of enemy variety, and single weapon/combo gameplay definitely made it more tedious than it might have been even with corridors, and that's something they could improve. Also, the RPG-lite upgrades were mostly pointless.
....and I think we just found who was sending Santa Monica those pix.....
@NEStalgia
Game didnt started at dlc, its only xbox fans claiming that.
@Neverwild I remembered reading it years ago and thought it was the case, but, now that you mention it, IDK how much truth there is or isn't to it. However, it's not "xbox fans claiming that" - it apparently started with David Jaffe, though obviously an outsider now, and a guy that shoots his mouth off, talks trash, claiming it, you'd think the guy that started the studio and the series wouldn't be making stuff up like that out of nowhere but who knows. It probably mingled with comments from Cory about how they had DLC planned but it ended up being too big, and then become a running internet truth that it started as DLC then become a sequel. At this point, I don't know if it's true or not, and we probably never will. Though there's little reason to believe the story of it at minimum didn't begin as a DLC if they'd started planning it but scrapped it (which is from Cory.)
But you're right, there's nothing official.
Either way, it doesn't change much regardless even if it's entirely true or false. GoW already pushed the PS4 to the extremes, and the sequel is still limited by the same hardware. It quite literally can't be tremendously different from the first.
@NEStalgia I think the two biggest games of the PS4 lifespan were GoW and Spider Man. Orders likely came from above to work on a Bigger Badder Open Worlder version ASAP.
I do miss the days when a game series got sequels every 2 years.
Uncharted 1: 2007
Uncharted 2: 2009 (2 years)
Uncharted 3: 2011 (2 years)
Uncharted Golden Abyss 2012 (1 year)
Uncharted 4: 2016 (5 years from last mainline, 4 from last side game)
Uncharted The Lost Legacy 2017 (it felt for a bit that it was back to smaller regular releases but nope that was the end of that line... we waited 5 more years for a PS5 port)
And the thing is, the more we wait in between entries, the more people expect, making the NEXT entry even bigger and have an even larger gap...
@Neverwild
I disagree. Xbox fans don’t say that. (Regularly and pointlessly linking GOWR as some dlc in some way, form or shape) Console warriors do and there are so many 😅
Or maybe they only get that propaganda info on prXbox 🤷🏼♂️
Any gamer with some sense can realise the difference between dlc and a massive game like GOWR.
Nervous that they’re going to kill off kratos. Sure hope not.
Finally! I now have something to look forward to for the rest of the year.
@ppitchfork I can't imagine the studio would kill off one of the top famous characters of the company. If they did they'd have an idea of how to "resurrect him". Again, I mean....
@JJ2 There's a difference between it IS DLC and it "started development as DLC before growing into a sequel."
Again, I don't see "xbox fans" or "console warriors" saying that. Maybe it's bad info, maybe it's true, but like I said it appears David Jaffe is the one that started it (not exactly an xbox fan or anti-PS personality), and Cory's statements about a DLC plan that became too big to do as DLC gained life (or truth?) as meaning Ragnarok was originally intended as a DLC before becoming a new game.
That's not even a "console warrior" claim or criticism....just a statement of how the game began development (which may or may not be accurate, apparently.) It's not anti-PS, anti GoW, or anything else. Frankly you'd have to be a console warrior to construe that as such, seeing enemies on all sides, from without and within.
@ppitchfork
Well it’s supposed to happen considering the previous game. I only hope he doesn’t get golf clubbed so to speak. As in he should get a decent end.
@NEStalgia
Actually it started on a notepad and it’s completely irrelevant. You would have to be naive not to see why dlc is brought up repeatedly. Yes it’s console war crap. This game has been a target for all sorts of trolls and it’s not stopping any time soon.
Amazing. Start the year with Elden Ring… end it with GOW.
Love it!
@IonMagi Well, Wednesday is Odins day so it does make sense.
@WizzNL They do have more experience with it, but much as I dislike Naughty Dog, they are technological wizards that Santa Monica has never been. And Sucker Punch really specializes in open worlds, Ubi-style, and has a whole other approach. Not to mention GoW2018 specifically rejected "open world". I'm not fond of the tight corridors, it felt too dated in so many ways, but I also can't see them creatively taking it much more open, and changing the game too drastically in that regard, just for creative and consistency reasons.
But they're still stuck with the same engine and technology and same hiccups as PS4. Love it or not, I think it still has to have level designs based on loading constraints. I know GoT manages, but it's starting from a whole different foundation. I mean, inFamous had an open world without loading screens on a PS3, but GoW's level of detail just isn't set up for that.
@JJ2 I really don't see it as a criticism to say it started as a DLC. It's not a unrealistic claim. I mean we've seen a bit of gameplay a year ago. We've seen that it looks like a continuation of the existing game. We don't need to blame xbox warriors for creating a myth here, it looks like more of the same, and people are still excited for it. We can see for ourselves what it is. Whether the origin is or isn't something that started out intended as DLC, the product is still what we've seen it is, and most are fine with that, it easily could have been DLC, or stand-alone DLC like First Light/Lost Legacy, but just became too big. I don't think that's a stretch of belief, or invalidates the game either way.
You honestly see enemies in every direction, don't you? lol
@NEStalgia
Sorry for second reply to clarify
I think quite a few games ‘started as dlc’. And nobody made a fuss about them. As I said it’s completely irrelevant and just anecdotal at best.
But keep bringing it up if you wish for some reason. Doesn’t bother me I just said my thought about it.
@IonMagi look up Wednesday in correlation to Norse Mythology. Pretty cool they did that imo
@NEStalgia
Hey man. I don’t see enemies here. Come on. I’m only laughing at console warriors. They aren’t enemies. You just agreed with me it’s absolutely not noteworthy and the logic behind trying to downplay a game is quite clear.
I’m not blind haha
@JJ2 Sure, sure
Yeah, that's exactly right. It's not uncommon. Again, I think this one became more widespread, not because of "console wars" but because of who said it (Jaffe) and because it meshed with the statements from Cory himself (who planned said cancelled DLC.) Add in gaming "journalism" that runs with headlines that read "GoW Ragnarok was planned DLC" (according to creator David Jaffe - in the article), and Cory's comments on the DLC that became too big.....and it just becomes internet fact. I just don't see malicious intent behind it.
Ultimately, we've already seen GoWR is more GoW. It's not really an outlandish claim that misrepresents the game in terms of it's visual presentation. Even if it was meant to downplay the game, it's not really an unfair criticism. What they showed us, really does look like an add-on, at least on a PS4. I don't think fans of the first will be bothered by that.
@SplooshDmg Mr. Whiskers demands a holiday release. Liverpool displeased Mr. Whiskers. You know what happens when Mr. Whiskers is displeased....
Yeah... I'll believe it when it releases. Here's hoping this date remains true, but still it's 5 months until then, a lot of stuff can happen.
Not to mention, a new Covid wave is around the corner...I hope it won't have a big impact.
@NEStalgia
It’s a direct sequel. I already said it’s more of the same. Just like Days Gone 2 would have been.
Jaffe is a famous YouTuber people quote or ignore depending on their own biases haha. I’ve been clear I don’t think journalists are perfect either. Anyway like I said it’s completely pointless discussion since a direct sequel is what it is. No need to be dlc to be more of the same.
@JJ2 Yeah, I don't think we really disagree much here.
And yeah, Jaffe is a few gorgon eyes short of a full collection these days......but...when the series creator speaks about the series, it creates waves.
Yeeesssss! Finally , was honestly starting to believe it would be delayed to next year I bet all those people that were insistent that there was no way that it would release this year & that because starfield got delayed then that must mean Ragnarok will also be delayed are feeling pretty stupid right now
State of Play coming soon for sure... hopefully in the next month or so
@Tharsman platinumed horizon with not one bug
Definitely will be pre-ordered. Enjoyed the last entry so much and I'm sure this will be as good if not better.
@ROBLIVION congratulations. Wonder why they continue to patch bugs that prevent completing main story quests, then.
Can hardly wait!
Am I the only one disappointed it won't be a trilogy? Two games makes me feel the story will be wrapped up too quickly.
I just want to explore all the realms before the story wraps up.
Day One purchase without a doubt, so excited! Now we just need a true PS5 upgrade/version of the first game.
@KidBoruto to be fair i dont know if they could really do much more to god of war other than a complete rebuild of the game for the ps5 gen..its running in 4k@60 fps and looks amazing anyway which is testament as to what the ps4 and ps4 pro could achieve in the hands of the correct developers and programmers..seeing whats come before just makes me impatient as to what comes next..
@Northern_munkey Fair point! I've already beaten the game and have almost all of the trophies, just need to defeat the Valkyrie Queen.
@Jaz007 Just not a pre-order for you. Many others will pre-order it
Whoop whoop! Perfect timing. Just had a friend to visit (he only has an Xbox) and he started God of War last night and was blown away. Think I’ll continue his save and have a quick story play reminder having got the plat at launch
The year started with Elden Ring?! Really? On a PlayStation site?!
😉
The game will be fantastic, loved the first (fourth) and I'm sure this one will be equally as good.
I know it will be delayed by at least one week, after I’ve requested the days following the launch off from work.
