MultiVersus brings together characters from across the Warner Bros. extended universe, and pits them against each other in glorious combat. The title is live now via its open beta test, and everything you unlock will carry over into the full version of the game when it launches.
As reported by VGC, there are 16 characters currently available in the beta, with four playable from the get-go. You get Wonder Woman by completing the tutorial; another 11 can be unlocked. What's interesting, then, is that there's an item available through the Premium Edition of MultiVersus' various Founders Packs that suggests an additional 19 will be coming to the game.
The Premium Edition of the game comes with 30 Character Tokens, which can be used to unlock a character instantly, or you can earn Gold in-game or spend real money on Gleamium in order to do the same.
So, if you were to purchase the Premium Edition Founders Pack, and unlock the 11 characters present in the beta, you would be left with 19 Character Tokens. This suggests that at least that many characters are still coming to the game.
In addition, this mostly lines up with the leaks we got ahead of the game's launch. Over on Reddit, the person who leaked the existence of MultiVersus in the first place predicted a further 21 characters would be coming to the game, although whether they all make the cut remains to be seen.
The following characters, according to the leak, are "mostly finished", which is a claim that has merit because of datamined information, including voice lines that backs up their inclusion:
- Joker – DC
- Raven – DC
- Gizmo – Gremlins
- Marvin the Martian – Looney Tunes
- Lebron James – NBA
- Rick – Rick and Morty
- Morty – Rick and Morty
- Scooby-Doo – Scooby-Doo
- Daenerys – Game of Thrones
- The Hound – Game of Thrones
- Wicked Witch – The Wizard of Oz
- Godzilla – Godzilla
The following characters are reportedly also coming to the game, but are in various stages of early development:
- Johnny Bravo – Johnny Bravo
- Fred Flinstone – Flinstones
- Samurai Jack – Samurai Jack
- The Powerpuff Girls – Powerpuff Girls (all one fighter)
- The Animaniacs – The Animaniacs (all one fighter)
- Duck Dodgers/Daffy – Looney Tunes
- Scorpion – Mortal Kombat
- Ben 10 – Ben 10
- Ted Lasso – Ted Lasso
According to the same leak, Harry Potter and Mad Max were in the works at some point, but are currently on hold for unknown reasons.
The Premium Edition Founders Pack also includes three tokens for Premium Battle Passes, suggesting three seasons of content at least in which these characters could be introduced to the game.
What do you think of this list of characters? Are there any others you would like to see join the fight? Speculate wildly in the comments section below.

Yeah I saw this leak. I think if they keep up with content, this game will blow up.
If they were going to put a basketball player from space jam in it they should've gone with Micheal Jordan 🤷♂️
All of them available in microtransactions.
Ted Lasso beating up Godzilla would make this my favourite game of all time
Boo, the others are already known. The game needs characters that people have actually heard of like Hong Kong Phooey and Jabber Jaw.
Does anyone play these Free to Play games for that long? They seem suited to children with parents who won’t buy them real games
@Tr3mm0r yeah it's a free-to-play game
They can keep it with those silly prices. No way !
The more crossovers this gets...the less appealing I find it. which is unfortunate as it's the entire concept. It just feels WB really wants to push all it's IP into a multi-verse and they don't need to be. Gandalf and Batman side by side is already too much for me, let alone Gandalf, Batman, Jake the Dog and Scorpion.
I hope those that are into it though enjoy it, it looks well made and I do like the idea of the co-op moves that buff your teammates.
This games roster potential is endless IF they keep it up I'm so hyped
some of them are odd choices. but 19 additional is alotttt. hell yeah!. i dont see the point of the game of thrones ones for example. they couldve also tossed out lebron and put in lola bunny instead lol. didnt think the new space jam was all that great tbh. ben 10 being added is neat. they really should add Static shock! or Megas from MegasXLR
@Ogbert do you have the same problem with Smash Bros? This game isn't saying these IPs are actually connected in any way.
okay, if Godzilla leak is real, I'd give him a go.
I love multiverse smashups, bring it on!
@Luigia Nothing more elitist than turning your nose up at a game based on its payment model.
I'm a grown man who's played Fortnite since day one. And I paid the $40 to get into this game and get the base characters after only a few matches because this is, without a doubt, already the tightest, most entertaining Smash Bros-esque game since... well, Smash.
Congrats on missing out on solid experiences because of such a shortsightedness/elitist attitude that you willingly deny yourself fun because you want to spend money. Good job?
Pretty good cast of characters, looking forward to it.
@MFTWrecks I take your comments on board and apologise
@Milktastrophe Nope. the tone so Smash is different (and of PSASBR). It's a celebration of gaming and it's icons and they're all meant to be toys being battled in a child's imagination anyway. And it lets us all fight out the age old playground question of in a fight between Mario and Sonic who would win?
Multiversus doesn't feel that way to me. Sonic vs Pac-Man vs Cloud, yeah they're a bunch of video game icons that shaped the industry that's fun watching them duke it out. Gandalf vs Jake the Dog? Why? What's that a celebration of? It's just WB desperate to keep all it's IP relevant. And it's called multiversus, it's saying all these IP exist together in the same multiverse. American Chavez could punch a star portal in Middle Earth and end up in Ooo.
It's not done for the love of the characters (though the devs are clearly doing their best), it's done to establish a multiverse because they are an in thing. And nobody has ever asked who would win in a fight between Shaggy and Godzilla.
@Ogbert it's called multiversus because the main mode is 2v2. It's multiple versus each other.
Every argument you provide for smash being good can apply to this and every argument you provide for this being bad can apply to smash. People have been talking about who would win in a fight between movie/tv/book characters for centuries, that's not something unique to video game characters.
Godzilla? Really? But he'll be no bigger than the Iron Giant, which is nowhere near his size! Give me a 200ft tall Godzilla!!
