Update: As has been the case for some time, Sony has been prompted resolving its minor PSN outage from earlier in the day. All services are now back online and working as intended.
Original Story: It’s not been a good day for PSN and Sony’s online services, with its licensing mishaps once again ruining the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on PS Plus. Furthering that, connectivity appears to be down for many people around the world – and all this on Stray day, too! Sony itself has admitted it’s “experiencing issues” at the time of publication.
The problems extend to logging in, creating new accounts, and even browsing the PS Store. The manufacturer says that it’s “working to resolve the issues as soon as possible” and that it “thanks you for your patience”. Are you having any problems? Let us know exactly what’s going on with your consoles in the comments section below.

Well. I guess today isn't a good time to take my PS5 out of the box. I'll wait until things are running smoothly again.
Damn cat pushed the servers off the table
Don't feel like playing anything with this heat anyway.
Good thing I downloaded Stray this morning! Phew!
Will be fixed soon
I'm getting a WS-116522-7 error code. So supposedly the system software, that installed two weeks back, has just installed incorrectly... nice going with those useful codes, Sony.
It’s been intermittent in Minnesota. It works, but using Shareplay to play games together with a friend does not work.
@Eldritch I'm getting the same error now and the system is up to date. They seem to have screwed something up server-side.
I found a way to still be able to download Stray, despite the PS Store outage. I clicked download on the Stray page on PS Store and it gave me an error and it would not download. But it was added to my library. I was able to download it from going to my game collection and downloading it from there rather than from the PS Store.
@D34DL1N3R you keep it in a ... box?
@velio84 No lol, they have been using Amazon Tech for years
@Voltan I didn't notice this article till after, so re-installed the system software, just incase. Don't bother as it doesn't make a blind bit of difference. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be affecting anything other than online play, so I'm still able to play games downloaded from Extra.
What a cat-astrophe!
I'm guessing that's why Multiversus isn't working on launch day too
After seeing a couple of reports of machines overheating in the UK today, my own PS5 is having an enforced day off from gaming.
I did try to download FF7 Intermission but no joy with that anyway. Hopefully Sony fix the license, or whatever else is preventing us getting the content, soon.
How strange. Im sure its not related, but the forza horizon 5 servers are down too, so we cant play the new hotwheels dlc which should have launched at 6pm.
I wander if theres a sinister plot to deprive us of new gaming experiences? 😂
Why can’t Sony do anything right 🤦🏻♂️… constant issues around everything. Come on lads get a grip eh 👍🏻.. if it wasn’t for devs like ND etc PS as a brand would be on its arse I’m sure of that
Services seem to be back online now.
I bought burnout paradise and yakuza 6 earlier and it wouldnt let me download or add them to my library, so im hoping its connected and i dont have to mess about.
Stray is a offline game so no need to worry about psn right now, slightly annoying but at least it will be fixed soon enough
@themuckman overheating? I'm anxious about it but it's been ok today touch wood 😰😰
Well this is just “puff-fect”
Wait people have been having problems with PSN? I've been using it all evening with no issues
I haven't turned any of my consoles on for about a week because of the heat where I am. ☹️
@theMEGAniggle Mine arrived in it's original packaging. Which is a box. Either you bought yours used with no box, or you somehow managed to magically buy a one new with no box.
@D34DL1N3R Oh so you haven't taken it out yet? Why would you get one only to leave it in the box?
@__jamiie I know central ac isn't common in the UK, but can't you buy a portable or window ac?
@theMEGAniggle I'm 50 yrs old. I've been gaming for over 40 years. I have a backlog of games dating back to who knows when. I have a closet full of old games and consoles, plus a Series X, Switch and gaming PC currently hooked up and in use. It just hasn't been a priority and I've been torn between selling it and keeping it. Not sure why it matters to anyone else anyway. I think I'll just keep it in the box for another few months. It's been several months already so a few more wont hurt. I have thousands of games at my disposal, I'm in no hurry.
@AdamNovice What else are you going to do? Go outside and be in the heat?
@D34DL1N3R That makes sense. I'm a curious person, sorry if I overstepped. I just find it funny how you are basically sitting on one of the most demanded products in the world, more power to you though
@theMEGAniggle I didn't think you overstepped. I was just answering your question. Cheers.
@D34DL1N3R Just lie down and stew lol
@D34DL1N3R Believe me I've looked into every option possible. My house quite old so doesn't have brilliant air flow and tends to be warm even on cold days. I have an air purifier behind my console set up to try to keep them cool and as dust free as possible.
I've only just been lucky enough to get hold of my PS5 very recently so I'm really nervous about taking any chances.
