The third season of Ubisoft’s extreme sports open world Riders Republic has pedalled to PS5 and PS4 – but with the summer sun shining, the French publisher is focused on climate change. A new in-game event, Project Rebirth, will run until 10th August, and will see you partake in a Reforestation effort. Once you’ve done some good, you’ll be able to enter a Mass Race in the area, and watch as fresh flowers bloom over the course of the season. Pretty cool stuff, actually!
As you’d expect from any seasonal update, there are new outfits and emotes to look forward to, as well as a couple of nifty vehicular additions. Among these is the Juggernaut, a chopper-style bike, as well as the Sniper – which is a big bicycle with a cannon attached to its rear wheel. The season will round out with a tease of the new BMX expansion, which is being added to the title later in the year. Check out the trailer above for more of what to expect.

As an environmental scientist and as much as I hate the Ubisoft game model as of late; shedding light on an issue that is undeniable and will continue to affect everyone on this planet, is commendable.
Regardless of how fickle, this being a theme is refreshing.
Somehow, it being Ubisoft makes me care about the important issue of climate change less. Huh.
@kyleforrester87 Amazing how faceless companies have that affect isn't it?
Yeah I just don't get it. Like I guess it raises awareness. Maybe. Who knows. I have a hard time imagining someone not knowing about climate change but learning of it here first.
With that in mind, inserting piddly reforestation tasks in a video game seems a fairly hollow gesture in the face of oh, y'know, extinction.
But maybe I'm just being too negative about this idk. Maybe it's better than nothing. Or maybe it is nothing. Really hard to tell.
I play games as a means of escapism for a few hours..we have climate change and just about every other issue rammed down our throats on just about every type of media so why cant games be left alone..a little bit of escapism never hurt anybody...give it a break..
