The Crew 2’s anticipated 60 frames-per-second update for PS5 turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. While the game definitely plays better at the higher refresh rate, the visuals take a gigantic hit – we’ve got examples in our Hands On article. Fortunately, Ubisoft has acknowledged the issue and has committed to improvements.
“Our teams continue to work on improving the 60fps experience, and we have good reason to believe that we will be able to offer a higher resolution in the near future as well as a better use of the console resources,” a spokesperson for the French publisher said. It did acknowledge that “maintaining a smoother framerate […] has an impact on the visual quality of the game” but continued that it’ll “provide you with an update of the situation relatively soon”.
In the meantime, it has a workaround for PS5 players specifically. If you go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Resolution and force 1080p then it does, somehow, improve the visual quality of the 60fps mode. Of course, this comes with the caveat of outputting at a lower native resolution – but considering how bad the image quality is anyway, this is actually a viable option while weyou wait for a patch.

Just make a native PS5 version.
@Anke would iron out a lot of the issues, that’s true. Probably they have their reasons: cost for publishing a native version, development, whatever.
But of course a native version would be way better.
Nah. I gave it a go, was underwhelmed, and won't be back.
We are getting early access patches now smh. Gaming is going down the toilet. Just wait until its ready to release it finished
This is 4 years old so I think we were lucky to even get a 60fps patch, let alone the fact they are going to improve it. I think for a native PS5 version you’ll probably have to wait for the inevitable Crew 3.
Crew 2 was the type of game I expected to love - not just open world cars, but planes and boats too?!?! And a compressed US where I could hit a few iconic locations? Sign me up!
I played it on the PS4 Pro a few times when I had access to it through a free weekend or some such bonus, yet somehow it never really clicked into enjoyable for me. It always felt like a slog and rarely like fun. I don't know what the missing mojo was - or if it was even the game's fault - but I just never enjoyed it.
So hearing the 60fps patch killed the graphics just kind of ruined any interest in giving it another chance. It's nice that they're spending resources on updating older titles, but do it right (the first time!) or don't bother.
@Slippship
Can this garbage game die already. I've seen way too many articles on a crap game that has received a crap port by now.
All it does is remind me of the last good game Ubisoft had made and it actually is a PS3 game:
Driver SF, which has way better gameplay, graphics, physics, campaign and car mechanics than this piece of trash which belongs in trash, just like its company.
Absolutely insane where Ubisoft is when you look back at Driver SF
@RobN that's what it always is with Ubisoft.
Incredible premises, fun ideas. They just never get any treatment they deserve and they just deliver these half@ssed games that play like crap, look like crap and are written like crap
Am I the only one that actually thinks it looks great? Maybe it's because I'm new to next gen games, having played mostly retro games and just recently "upgraded" to Xbox 360 when I got a PS5 as a gift by surprise. I'm really enjoying the game but am scared about the fact that it requires online and what would happen when the server eventually go down.
@Anke and charge full price for it..i'm sure that would go down well 👍
@Slippship yes the driver games were made by reflections..not sure what happened to them..
Can't really complain this isn't a mandatory update & it's free 🤷♂️
@Smash41 this game released in 2018 2 years before the ps5 was even out there's absolutely no reason the developers need to add an update for ps5 so why are you mad lol
I bought it on PS4pro. It is unbearably ugly. Horrible draw distance with the worst pop in. I played it for an hour...maybe two. Haven't touched it since. And now it's even uglier? Oh, man... 🤦♂️
Ubisoft should stay away from games that involve vehicles as they just cannot get driving mechanics to work tidy in any of their games.
Or hire somebody that does.
@BoldAndBrash My kid got me Driver SF for Christmas...18 months ago, and I haven't finished it yet (yes, I still have a PS3 connected to my TV). Mostly wanted to play it for the "second person" level that appears to be somewhat unique, but I found it quite interesting long before I got there. A bit repetitive on the car models, but for the era it was pretty solid.
You know, now that you mention it, I'm more interested in going back to that game than Crew 2.
@RobN
Yeah very true, especially considering the game has more dialogue than a game like Mass Effect 2 lol.
So tuning into different npc's conversations can almost never get old either. A sequel would be bonkers!
Too bad Ubisoft has lost its touch. I'm often considered a Ubi hater, but the fact is, they made some great stuff and it's a shame where they are now in comparison
