You don't often hear about Slavic folklore inspiring a video game, so it's refreshing to learn about Blacktail, a game based on the legend of Baba Yaga. Announced at Gamescom for PS5, the game is heading our way this Winter, so it's not too far off.
In it, you play as a teenage girl named Yaga, "accused of witchcraft and expelled from an early medieval Slavic settlement". She begins seeing visions of nightmarish creatures, and must fight against them to figure out who she is. A big part of the game is the idea of good vs. evil; Yaga can go either way depending on your actions, letting you decide the fate of her and her homeland.
It's a first-person action game with combat that focuses on a bow and arrows, as well as some magical spells. Basic survival elements come into it too — you'll need to craft equipment and hunt for food to survive the woods.
Sounds intriguing to us, but what do you think of Blacktail? Spell it out in the comments section below.

Not gonna lie, I only learned about Baba Yaga thanks to David Dastmalchian's character Kurt in Ant Man and the Wasp, lol.
This game does like it has potential to be good. Like what I see so far.
This looks awsome its a expensive hobby gaming.
I'm loving that more games focused on spellcasters are starting to roll out. Keep em coming!
What a weird John Wick prequel.
