Developer Flying Wild Hog has made the decision to delay its promising third-person shooter Evil West out of its original 20th September 2022 release date and into November. In order to give the studio more time for polishing, the game will now launch for PS5 and PS4 on 22nd November 2022. "We understand that game delays may be frustrating, but it's a necessary step to deliver the best experience to everyone," a Twitter post reads.
Just yesterday Deliver Us Mars was pushed back to early 2023, and now Evil West also joins the list of games delayed this year. That includes Hogwarts Legacy and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League postponed to 2023, and also Forspoken, Arc Raiders, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Tactical title Marvel's Midnight Suns might not make it out this year either.

For season reason my brain understood that as Hard West 2 and I got real excited that there was a console announcement. Alas.
Tbh it looked super polished in the gameplay video, so I'm guessing PS4 and XONE are to blame.
My only concern right now is the game getting buried with the release of Ragnarok.
Yeah, that new date is gonna help it ðŸ¤
These delays will continue as long as there is forced development for NINE YEAR OLD CONSOLES.
That's a good spot for this game to slip right in. The GOWR hype will likely be much more tame by then. I'm really interested to see how this one turns out!
Ugh! I’m totally, 100% against ‘Crunch’. But… 🤣
I can wait for this game.i got too many games to play. Take your time word up son
22nd November 2022 is still a dud date, it won't launch that close to God Of War, from which it takes quite a bit of inspiration (clearly seen in the gameplay trailer).
Imo, unless GOW gets delayed, Evil West will slip into 2023.
I’ve had my eye on this but this delay is a bit of a bummer. Once the end of October hits there’s just too many games coming out I want to play, but not much until then. Not sure where this is gonna fit in between RE Village DLC, Gotham Knights, COD: MW 2, GOW: Ragnarok, Callisto Protocol and the Dead Space remake. I’m sure I’ll find some time to play it tho.
Phooey. Well I can wait but they’ll have to now too as I’ll be knee deep in Norse God stomping with Kratos.
Man, and I was looking forward to it too. I guess that only leaves Soulstice for me for September.
Im still looking forward to this but man that date succccks. It was in a nicer place before but polish is always good
Another day. Another delay.
I'm looking forward to this and callisto far more than the God of War copy and paste we have seen next to nothing of.
@LazyLombax That can be true for 2 huge AAA games that stand very well on their own.
Not the case here though.
Evil West is a new IP (and one that doesn't even strike as a GOTY contender). And it draws plenty of inspiration right from the epic AAA game that now releases so close to.
It may be multiplatform but it also means losing almost 1/3 of sales if they choose not to steer clear of GOW... it's their choice, ofc, but it's just not a smart move to make with a new IP.
again dont matter as long as the developers has a steady rest and work life thats better than crunch. i do enjoy games from focus il be getting this day one.
@marnelljm it's not like anyone can do anything about it anyway given that the majority of sales is still on those consoles tbf
I never understand the fuss about a few weeks delay. Oh yea the press blows it out of proportion and then blames gamers usually. Even worse if a few weeks makes it pass over to the following year. Then it’s an even bigger fuss.
RIP Evil West, it will not survive against God of War Ragnarok releasing the same month.
