Earlier this week, retired WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley tweeted that he had PS5 stock for sale, and that he was donating the proceeds to charity. He also offered buyers an opportunity to hang out with him at an upcoming pro wrestling event. Now LA Lakers boss Jeanie Buss is offering a similar incentive to gullible fans. The problem is, it’s all a scam!
“I feel terrible for the inconvenience of being hacked,” Foley said in a video after recovering his account. “I really feel for anyone who fell for that ploy to purchase PS5 consoles. Please contact your bank or credit card and try to have that charge reversed. It was a scam. I’m really sorry that somebody tried to extort money from me [by using my account].”
Buss, amusingly, made a similar statement through the Lakers’ official social media page: “Lakers fans, my Twitter account has been hacked. Please do not engage with it or send any money. These are not legitimate offers. The Lakers will alert you when I am back in control of my account.”
Of course, Lakers fans are already having fun pranking Buss’ impostor – by arranging deals, before insisting he trade beleaguered point guard Russell Westbrook. Seriously, though, remember that if something looks too good to be true, it probably is. A brand new PS5 with free Lakers tickets on the side? Come on now…

So. Sad. The level of predatory scamming happening in the US right now is appalling. These people often operating outside the US, are literally void of any moral compass, not that corporations are much better, but they at least face the possibility of legal ramifications for their theft if they are to obvious about it.
I hope scammer hunters go after them, but the poor elderly folk being scammed daily are getting hit far worse
Insane just how structured and methodical scammers are getting. It used to be so easy to spot them. Mick Foley’s a stand-up guy with a big heart and it’s a shame to see his name being used for this kind of scam.
@nessisonett I'm sure there were red flags once you got into the meat of the scam. It can only really work if the payment is irreversible, so the scammers probably asked for something like bitcoin or gift cards.
As someone that follows wrestling I believe he was genuinely away at ‘Ric Flair’s last Match’ at the time.
Having said that Mick kind of deserves to get hacked like that with the BS he has been spouting.
He’s the ultimate fence sitter. Says a lot, but nothing at all.
"..brand new ps5 with laker tickets on the side"
Ditch the laker tickets, and you got yourself a deal.
I thought it was going to be Jonny Craig again moving on from his MacBook scam from a few years back.
Don't buy anything from celebrities. Ever.
Scalpers probably fell for it.
Wow, Mick Foley of all people. One of humanity’s best.
Jim Ryan going "if these people are willing to give their bank account to Dude Love over here surely they will pay $600 for the ps5"
Wheres the undertaker when you Need him. A lot of people should not be buying from sites or or wannabe celebrities.word up son
@KundaliniRising333 Agreed. My Grandma just tried to buy a PS5 and what came was an empty box with only an autographed picture of Joe Biden.
Well if Sony would create more stock, people wouldn't be tricked into this sort of thing.
Disgusting behaviour by people but its not really surprising to be honest..this whole console generation has been exploited by opportunist scalpers from day one and continues to be a huge problem..this just takes it to another level...
lead them up the garden path waste their time 😂
only buy your console from a reputable source i.e Amazon or game, currys pc world argos etc. dont buy off a scalper or anyone thats posting this crap on the internet. let them sell it back to a shop for less than they paid for it. they deserve all they get stopped a lot of fans buying a new console with their greed.scalpers hand your consoles to a charity cause i never buy from a scalper. i chose to go with out a playstation 5 or xbox one for over a year. i prefer to save more to get more games. and i enjoyed winding some up thinking they had me hooked for a sale omg.
The deal on Mr. Socko's Twitter is legit though, right? 🙏🙏🙏

@KundaliniRising333 the west is a society crying out to be scammed now, with so many quangos on the take and for anyone still in support of it’s become a most curious self masochistic perversion. Good luck finding those guys with many amongst you yet still you won’t know who they are. Mick foley or simply Mankind?
Forget PS5s with tickets, the Buss case should be mercifully transparent with its notion that a sports team boss could be promptly DM'd by a crowd like people in the market for a PS5. It's like someone's account hacking prowess somehow marks the extent of their Twitter knowledge.😅
@Fight_Teza_Fight you disagree with mick foley so he deserves to be hacked, you must be the life of the party geeze.
@Immovablegamer6669
You think he actually even gets invited to parties with that attitude?
People are either internet illiterate or just dumb.
@Tasuki Apparently chip shortages are one of the causes. But they also blame global supply chains/logistics.
people are so desperate to get a PS5 they are drooling at the mouth, getting grifted and doing the surprised pikachu face when it turns out to be a scam..
Did anyone tell these gullible people that the world is not all what it seems? Who are these people's parents?
@KundaliniRising333 if they got ONE i mean ONE dumb person to give them 500 dollars they won! There are 24 hours in a day, they rinse and repeat and do it all over again, they do it because some moron is actually falling for it.. Hence the phrase "there is a sucker born every minute..' by the way there are over 1440 minutes in a day.. DO THE MATH!!!
@Fight_Teza_Fight so because he doesn't have opinions you like he deserves his account hacked? Over wrestling too? I think you need to get some perspective if you think you not liking what someone says makes it ok to hack their account to try and scam people.
