Telltale Games' video game adaptation of Amazon's hit TV series The Expanse will be part of Gamescom Opening Night Live next week, as confirmed by host Geoff Keighley on Twitter. We'll get our "first look at gameplay," he explains. The project is being led by Life Is Strange: True Colors dev Deck Nine Games, and while it isn't confirmed for PS5 and PS4 just yet, we expect that'll happen in the near future.
This likely isn't the only announcement Telltale Games has planned for the show, though. Amazon leaked box art and a release date for New Tales from the Borderlands last night, and the official reveal is likely planned for Keighley's event on Tuesday. Expect both to be part of the live show.
You can also look forward to more footage and news concerning Hogwarts Legacy, Dying Light 2 DLC, Sonic Frontiers, and The Callisto Protocol. More than 30 games will be part of the event, so there's much more we don't know about. I wouldn't mind a PS5 port of their PS3 Jurassic Park game assuming they polish it a bit more. This though? Not going to bite.
Wait, didn't telltale kick the bucket years ago?
What about The Wolf Among Us 2?
I'm still patiently waiting for the Telltale: Game of Thrones follow up 🫤
I haven’t been into Telltale’s games for a while, but The Expanse is my favorite live action show and a great book series, so I might check this out.
@Odium I loved the show. It's definitely my favorite live-action Sci-fi show of all time! So I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out.
@TaterSlap69 I’m right there with you, it was absolutely incredible. I finished it started telling everyone I knew they needed to watch it … Yup, I’m that guy, I can live with that lot in life for The Expanse.
The Expanse was a great show aside from the rushed ending. Not sure how I feel about Telltale taking the reins though.
I love reading The Expanse and have always wanted a game in that universe... but this ain't it. Not a fan of TT.
@LiamCroft Not to be that guy but a small correction would be that The Expanse isn’t a Netflix show, but rather is owned now by Amazon. The TV series originally started on Syfy network actually, then was bought by Amazon who has produced the last few seasons, if I’m not mistaken. And of course the original IP is a book series written by James S. A. Corey
@Th3solution
I know this site is European and it might be on Netflix over there but still that's a jarring error to make
@Th3solution Ah yes that's right, fixed. Thanks!
@FixMadden22 yes they did, but then someone bought their remains and is now using their name.
@FixMadden22 Same name different people.
@SinfulDestroyer
I love your optimism, but let's see their games in action, first.
By the way, I'm pretty worried by how many gamers don't know that Telltale are (sort of) back. I hope their new games sell decently. I'm super excited about The Expanse and TWAU2. Especially as I think the team behind TWAU2 has a lot of old TellTale devs and Deck Nine have more than proved themselves with LIS:BTS and TC.
I loved early telltale games, wasn't so keen on the post walking dead stuff where they threw all the puzzles away and every game just felt like a cut scene with options.
@Th3solution @XOF @PegasusActual93 @TaterSlap69 @Odium How long did it take for the show to get really good?
I tried it out when it was still in it's first season ages ago, dropped out after Episode 3.
Also are the Expanse comics/graphic novel worth reading?
@KidBoruto I personally dunno about the TV show, I never watched it. (Or the graphic novels lol) I've only read the books, and only the first few so far. But from what I've heard the show is pretty in-line with the books at least for the first few seasons.
If you like space operas, it'll hook you right away.
@KidBoruto
I have never read the books. If the show is simply not your thing then no shame in just not continuing but it does take a few episodes to get going. It's a very dense show. There's a ton of characters and a very in depth political narrative. It's like a scifi Game of Thrones where like GOT there isn't even really a main character. Season 2 onwards does have better pacing and more action so it depends on what you expect to get out of the show going in.
@KidBoruto I personally was into right away, but it really starts to pick up mid-season. Once plot lines start coming together and characters start meeting one another the series starts having a space GoT vibe like Pegasus said. I’ve always equated it to GoT in space. I highly recommend trying out the first full season, if you don’t like it by the end of that it’s not for you. Though season three’s finale is one of the most intense episodes of a show I’ve seen, so I can’t recommend it enough.
I haven’t read the graphic novels, honestly, I didn’t even know there were any. I’ll have to check them out now.
That reminds me I’ve just started reading the first book in preparation for experiencing the show proper.
@Odium @PegasusActual93 @XOF Mid-season at least? I'll be sure to try and keep that in mind next time I attempt to give this show a chance again...
Sadly the GOT comparisons are a big turn off for me, I got bored of GOT after only 3 episodes in.
Btw, here are both of the Expanse graphic novels (comics).

https://www.amazon.com/The-Expanse-Corinna-Bechko/dp/1684156912
@KidBoruto thanks, I’ll definitely be checking those out. I’m always down for more The Expanse.
Unfortunately, if you couldn’t get into GoT then this might not be for you. It’s extremely heavy on politics and intrigue. There’s a lot of back and forth between factions. It eventually branches out from there to much bigger things, but the politics and back stabbing is always there.
@Odium No worries. Hope you end up enjoying both of the Expanse comics!
@KidBoruto thanks, I definitely will!
