If you're eager to see more of The DioField Chronicle, Square Enix's upcoming strategy RPG, then you're in luck. Game Informer has published a 16-minute dive into the title, which features a lot of combat and a bit of base exploration. It's a recommended watch if you're not quite sure what to make of The DioField Chronicle just yet.
Overall, we think that it looks pretty good, and we can certainly see where the Fire Emblem comparisons are coming from. Real-time strategy can be a tricky genre to get right, but this project seems to strike a fine balance between tactical depth and approachable design.
Oh, and it's worth remembering that there will be a demo for The DioField Chronicle, and it's releasing on the 10th August (that's tomorrow at the time of writing!). If you're still on the fence after watching this video, then you'll definitely want to check that out.
The full game is still set to launch on the 22nd September, so it's not far off. Are you looking forward to The DioField Chronicle? Prepare yourself for war in the comments section below.

Oh, demo tomorrow? Cool, I'll probably check it out later this week.
I do love me some Fire Emblem so I will definitely give the demo a look tomorrow.
Looking forward to checking out the demo to this one for sure. Even with Tactics Ogre coming in November, I’m always down for a really solid srpg. A good srpg may be my favorite style of game to play.
The gameplay mechanics look promising, but there's one thing that's just a turn-off for me personally: the visual aesthetics. Everything is so DARK. The screen is dominated by black, grays and so on, and even the character art has that same depressing vibe that kept me from really falling in love with FE: Three Houses despite playing probably 150 hours. And not only that, but the environments are stark, flat, and lifeless, full of 90-degree angles (so far I haven't seen any natural environments or even vegetation of any sort during the battles). Normally I'm one to jump all over SRPGs, but I have to say I'm still on the fence with this one. I'll probably at least wait for the reviews to come out to make as informed a decision as possible, although the upcoming demo may indeed help me decide before then.
This feels like a CRPG I would have played a decade ago. Looks like your characters just tediously trudge through basic, linear dungeons killing roomfuls of enemies. The general aesthetic of the game is also really... bland.
Kinda disappointed, but it's not like people wanting tactical rpg goodness from S-E are lacking in options this year.
In a year where SE released Triangle Strategy, this looks like it comes up short tbh.
The title and the RTS RPG sounds interesting. Had fun with the mini RTS on Actraiser Renaissance and love Pikmin. Just difficult for me to find a good one for beginners. Any suggestions?
@Sakisa triangle strategy will be tough to outshine in the trpg department, but who knows.
We're being spoiled rotten this year anyways with tactics ogre reborn and perhaps also the front Mission Remake.
Only thing I'm still rooting for is a new Valkyria Chronicles.
@tameshiyaku Valkyria Chronicles is an amazing franchise and hands down Sega's best since they left from making consoles, and I would absolutely support a new installment just as I have the previous ones. But I would be even more excited to see a proper SRPG return of Shining Force for consoles; SF III for the Saturn had an incredible story (something the Genesis versions could never accomplish from a technical perspective) and some of the best, most manipulative villains ever seen in a videogame (I kid you not). Western gamers in particular could benefit from finally seeing the complete, three-Scenario storyline instead of being cut off at the First Scenario by Sega's ambivalence.
But that's the problem; Sega doesn't want to bother with most of their old IPs not named "Sonic" anymore, so I'm not holding my breath.
@AtlanteanMan haven't played shining force, but I'd love to see a return of shinobi. Gotta give them credit for standing with Yakuza long enough to have it be popular in the west. Also releasing a new Sakura Wars was very unexpected. Bit yes, I wished they'd sink less resources in Sonic.
It's going to be hard for me to not pass on this given that I just got a Switch a little over a week ago, so I obviously still have the likes of Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Triangle Strategy to play in this genre. Those get priority obviously. I do hope it turns out to be good for the people looking forward to it though.
Wow the map looks just like Dragon Age Inquisition
