Sony has revealed The Last of Us: Part I launch trailer ahead of its anticipated PS5 launch on 2nd September 2022. With a mixture of cutscenes and gameplay, we catch glimpses of many newly updated scenes that didn't feature in past clips and walkthroughs. That includes pieces of Left Behind, the introductory sequence, and later cutscenes.
A video can't really convey the "modernised gameplay, improved controls, and expanded accessibility options", but the PS5 remake is only a few days away now.
Of course, we're hard at work on our own PS5 review, which will be uploaded come the end of the month. Have you pre-ordered the game yet, or are you waiting for a price drop? Let us know your decision in the comments below.

I’m in! This looks brilliant! Can’t wait for my play through of this and the amazing second game. Should be able to platinum this as well now without online trophies
Still see it as a bit unnecessary and can’t judge the price tag… nevertheless visually this will be absolutely stunning. Nice to see the improvements that ND made with their engine on the ps5.
We've talked about the price point to death and its boring now.
All I'm gonna say is this looks really good and I wish Rockstar put the same level of effort into GTA
What a fantastic trailer!
So tempted to pre-order, even though I have the PS3 & PS4 versions. Knowing me, I'll give in and pre-order it today 😂. One of my favorite games of all time. I know it will look and sound amazing on my LG C1 OLED with 3D audio! Excuse me while I go to the Best Buy app and order my copy!
I'm firmly in the camp with those who will pick this up at half price sometime next year. I'm quite looking forward to diving into this and a second play-through of Part II back to back!
Hook it to my veins!!!!!!
I had no problems buying this a 2nd time but that trailer was dope
Looks amazing!
@Reeneman I'm looking so forward to Factions and their new IP. Hope its sci-fi based
While I respect those calling it a milky cow and are waiting for a price drop, mine was pre ordered ages ago. When it's your fav game of all time you want the shiniest most sexiest and smoothest possible version you can play
Well i cant wait to play this for the god knows how many times, its my all time favourite game. The only thing i wished was that i could erase ever playing it from my memory so i could experience it for the first time again. But with the updated visuals and audio will lovr it over and over again
@theMEGAniggle looking forward as well to it, ND always delivers. Sci-Fi or something Middle Age with Knights based on rumours, right? Not sure if I remember it right.
I've played this game over 15 times since it came out, I know some of the scenes by heart. This trailer got me excited anyway!
Can't play it any time soon, gotta get a PS5 first, but this is looking amazing. No such thing as "Too much The Last of Us".
@Boucho11 So I see the multiplayer trophies stopped almost everyone else from getting the platinum...same here. It's just annoying when trophies is dependent on playing specific modes in which is hard to find players or achieving something which depends on the competency of all players. High time multiplayer trophies just gets separated.
Despicable cash grab!! When does the pre-load start? 😎
I got the remake free with a PS4 bundle so I have no problem splurging for this one if it has the modernized gameplay of Part 2.
My body is ready for crunchy gunplay.
I want to know how much of TLOU2 gameplay is in this. Can I dry-hump the floor? Are there additional puzzles with rope physics and the likes? Is the upgrade system similar to 2?
Not gonna lie, I’m in
Outstanding but the £65 price tag puts me off a bit.
I can't wait for this to launch so that I stop seeing articles being written about it.
Pre-ordered my copy ages ago.
Yes, £65 seems like a LOT of money, for a game I have already owned …twice.
But this really does look like something special. And technically, it is not a remaster - this has been rebuilt from scratch.
No tall grass or prone in this remake/remaster?
I love that interrogation scene!...but yeah still a pass.
If anyone wants to order shopto have the game for less than £60.
@Reeneman I think rumours were saying something based on Savage Starlight or some pirate themed game. I don't think there is weight to the pirate themed one as it'll be too similar to Uncharted.
Ultimately, I hope they can bring new systems to their next games though because their PS3/PS4 era games was mostly walk here, do puzzle or shoot, cinematic and repeat. TLOU 2 did change it up a little but I want to see some less linearity to their next games, not including Factions as that is clearly non linear.
@TechaNinja No prone, it has almost the same control scheme as the first one sadly
Somehow the tone really shifted it really annoys so much that this nonsense happens every time. The game looks fantastic ill get it day one without a doubt.
I never actually beat The Last of Us. I think I got about 1/3 through the game and that's it so I'm definitely looking forward to this.
@Octane No to all of that. But, they have migrated the ornate bench animations from Part II to Part I. So there's that.
I'm sure it looks indistinguishable from the PS4 remaster. And I'm sure I'm a schmuck for buying it day one. Looking forward to it anyway.
Price is a joke. I repeat myself. There should be discount for purchasers of the previous games. I purchased both PS3 and PS4 remaster...people who did the same should get a significant discount for loyalty.. £70 ...maybe £60 at some retail/online stores... Should really be £40 max. It's still the same game as before.
The TLOU remaster looks good and all, but I'm definitely getting inFamous: Second Son instead.
Wait....what year is it?
There really isn't anything else to say about how sad this project is, and how depressing it is for gaming to see so many willing to gobble up a shameless rerelease for profit margin forcasts.
The message this sends to the corporate schills at Sony, ND and has said to the likes of Rockstar, Bethesda, EA, Ubi, and the lot, is essentially that creativity, innovation, and new experiences arent needed to syphon money from the mindless and gullible. It offers a continued and accelerating roadmap of copy and paste iterative garbage, half-baked remasters with low costs and high returns(this), monetization schemes, and reboots of tired and dated old games.
It's ironic to see companies with the most resources and favor from the fans throw it all into iterative nonsense, and rereleases as soon as they see significant success, and yet conversely see much smaller studios actually attempting to innovate, tell new stories, and bring new experiences to gaming with a fraction of the resources. This is another example of the toxicity of the endless growth model, and our economic enslavement systems as a whole.
I was very Critical with this remake but after seeing all the leaks and this trailer man I was so wrong about this game the facial animations are on another level and the expressions and emotions really do elevate the scenes not to mention that this trailer looks dope as hell I will be buying it when it comes out I’m not too bothered about the price if you’re a fan of the games like myself you wouldn’t care
Its already pre ordered! Naughty Dog rule!
Not pre-ordering it but I have to admit it is awfully tempting to grab the game. Really want to play it again at it's best but not at £70. Need to fight that temptation until it's cheaper
It wasnt that long ago that this web site was saying that this game didnt look all that great..now it looks amazing..how the narrative has shifted in such a short time is amazing..will be interesting to see what it scores in the reviews as whilst it certainly does look very nice and no doubt the controls have been tweaked is that enough to warrant £65 and a potential 8/10 game again?
@Mezzer this i agree with..owners of the original remaster should be offered a discount to upgrade..
@KundaliniRising333 i like the way you put this across as i feel it captures how most people feel but wont ever say it..bravo 👍
Day one for me love this game. no chore playing thro this again.
The game has always looked beautiful. Is it 70 dollars beautiful? Not to me.
@KundaliniRising333 you raise some very interesting points which are pretty much spot on tbh in some of the gaming business world. Except for the part calling gamers mindless and gullible for purchasing games that make them happy. I read all the time oh he just plays CoD and GTA5 only, or she only ever plays Fortnite or Fall Guys only, or she only ever plays Animal Crossing, oh he only ever plays Fifa and never touches other more interesting games, all while being labelled casuals or noobs. I know these games I just mentioned has nothing to do with this post and has nothing to do with remasters or remake milking. My point is if a game makes you happy then buy it and enjoy it and for these people buying games that make them happy they shouldn't be criticised for it, nothing to do with mindless and gullible. I'm not mindless or gullible for purchasing a game that I know for a fact is gonna make me happy and provide me with tons of gaming fun and ain't this the whole point of gaming. Yh its true many gamers ain't got a clue about buisness big companies trying to milk us for as much moneys as possible, they just buy games THEY WANT and again that doesn't make them mindless or gullible. Why would anyone buy a game knowing full well they won't enjoy it, they're gonna mostly stick to what they know is their thing. Someone's probably being made fun of right now for purchasing and enjoying Saints Row but what if that 60 or 70 he or she spent on SR is making them happy and having a ton of fun with it. I've called a gamer a dirty sheep s##gg#r in private message for banter sake cause they only ever play farming sims but I wouldn't call them mindless or gullible for having their fun
I only ever played an hour of the PS4 version. I will play this but not at that price.
I do think for this price it should be packed with a PS5 version of Part II.
Eh
Looks a somewhat better
Day 1 buy here I come. Can’t wait
Everyone saying 'can't wait' you don't have to you can just play tlou remastered that's been out for 9 years it's the same game lol
Good trailer? Yes!
Is the og game a 10/10 masterpiece? Yes.
Does this remake justify the 80 euros price tag? Nope.
That was probably one of the best launch trailers of all time.
I was already going to buy TLoU: Part I because it’s one of the best games ever and I want to have the definitive version of the game. But it kind of felt like an obligatory purchase before, whereas after this trailer I actually feel hyped to go through it again.
I'll wait for the pc version when it's on sale. Will actually get new content in that one with mods.
@Matthewnh couldn't you, I dunno, wait for the price drop? If you know the game, there will be no spoilers, so why do you need it now for such a high price? Like everybody was buying Horizon FW on day one paying the same amount. I waited a month and got it for 30£. I had the same experience and it was cheaper by more than half. What's the point of overpaying? (Especially for a game you've played already)
Game looks really good but not worth the price tag to me. I'll still be waiting until it's $20-$30 New sometime in 2024...
@Beerheadgamer82 I'm sorry but "if it makes you happy, buy it" is exactly the problem that @KundaliniRising333 is talking about.
The lack of critical consumption from gamers (and in a more general sense) is what leads to some very nasty things. Hell, we had articles on these sites talking about how Ubisoft was abusing staff to make their games, then the next were about how Assassin's Creed was making more money than ever before, then about how things at Ubisoft haven't changed.
Because gamers went "yeah, that bad, but game make me happy so, abuse it is!"
That's a great trailer. It almost makes me wanna fork out for the game again but not for £70/£50/£30. Hopefully it will hit PS Plus sooner that it goes on 'sale'.
Looking at the comments, it looks like the Pokémon community up in here. Everyone was complaining about the franchise being milked, how it's a lazy cash grab, and how unnecessary it all is, and now that it's about to release, you all can't keep it in your pants.
@Richnj naughty dog is apparently the problem to this remake so let's see why
1. Last of Us factions huge standalone multiplayer game is still in full development with im guessing many at ND if not nearly all are currently on this project and has been in development since part 2
2. Part 3 is possibly been worked on by small teams on and off with many ideas floating around the company for it but is nothing like starting full development on yet till the bigger factions is almost complete
3. The rumoured new IP is just like 2 above but could be before or after part 3
4. This is where this Last of Us remake comes in to play, to bridge the gap between not releasing much after part 2. It came from an idea about a few years ago from a flashback seen in part 2 development that involved remaking a small part of part 1 for part 2. And then they obviously started messing about with the idea let's just do the whole thing for PS5 why not
As usual just guess work and some of these games might already be much further along than expected or not at all. This remake is the cause of all this money grabbing 70 milk I get that but regardless if you like ND or not they are not the scum many are making them out to be just because you prefer other games from other developers more than Naughtydogs efforts. People acting like ND are the most worst developers out there wow really have you even heard yourselves and wouldn't be surprised if many of these ND haters are just Xbox fanboys trying to hide the fact they only care for Xbox blah blah. Stay with the outdated PS4 version if you want that's your decisions and that's cool but like the PS3 version going to PS4 remastered there's gonna be still so many that hasn't played part 1 before and now have a PS5 to check it out for the first time plus the many PC players for the first time are getting the superior version. Just because a gamer adores this game more than someone else and is buying it day one doesn't make them more wrong or more stupid for purchasing it compared to those that aren't
I’ve never played this game before so naturally I’m going to buy it, I hope it is as good as what everyone says. I’m looking forward to experiencing it for the first time so I feel lucky I’m not in the camp that already has purchased it and can’t justify the remake
I think this looks like an amazing graphical upgrade. I’m playing Part 2 now for the first time and am loving it, and this remake really looks the part - seems to be much more immersive than the remaster. Looking forward to some day playing it.
Already pre-ordered on Amazon for £62 a bit back. Looking forward to another playthrough.
