If you took the comments on social media and sites like Push Square as common opinion, you’d assume no one was planning to buy PS5 remake The Last of Us: Part I. Of course, that’s not true, and Naughty Dog’s special Firefly Edition sold out almost as quickly as it went up for pre-order earlier in the year. Such is its rarity that some chancers tried to flog it for up to $450 on auction site, eBay.
We advised at the time there’s a good chance Sony will restock, and it’s happening on 2nd September at 12AM ET. “These will be on a first come, first serve basis, exclusively on PlayStation Direct,” the developer said.
Unfortunately, these won’t be available in Europe, and Naughty Dog has a special message for its fans overseas: “Europeans, we're working with our partners at SIE, and hope to provide an update on what we can offer soon.”
The Firefly Edition comes with all sorts of goodies, including a copy of the remake in a steelbook case, four issues of the American Dreams comic series with new cover art, and a bunch of in-game goodies – including early access to Speedrun Mode and more. It should be stressed that you can still unlock all of this in-game content in any version of the release, the Firefly Edition just expedites your progress.

I'm interested in it but I don't get y they can't just sell it through bestbuy or target too.
I’m going to try for it but I bet the site will crash.
Please drop in EU already 🤦🏼♂️
@meistergeister That's exactly my feeling but going to try anyway.
Utterly baffling that the special editions for Ragnarok were available at multiple retailers and for quite a while after the pre-orders went live, but this thing is exclusive to PS Direct in the US (for now) and available in super limited quantities.
It's weird that they didn't release a special edition for this and ragnarok in EU, I wonder if they're moving away from those.
The Horizon FW one was kinda nice, I always tend to get these for Sony 1st party games.
$100?! Good Lord!
Y'all are crazy!
They'd have to raise the price to release it over in Europe.
@Milktastrophe Yeah, Europeans are first-class customers for SIE.
PSA: Please stop buying remakes of remakes.
“Europeans, we're working with our partners at SIE, and hope to provide an update on what we can offer soon.”
Seems to me that us in Europe are now the distant second cousins to the US.
No price hikes on consoles, getting exclusives first and throwing us the left over scraps.
Is this a repeat of how they have treated our dear friends in Japan?
Sony and Naughty Dog have just released this statement to coincide with this news -
'Haha, cheers suckers!'
Kinda making it a bit late to be able to buy this in Europe by next Friday and cancel my existing preorder.
Therefore I'm probably not going to buy this, am I?
@kyleforrester87 I see a colon issue that needs fixing.
If it was sold through Best Buy, I would have bought it. I'll stick with my standard copy and the points I receive from that purchase to go towards another game.
@Octane you are not wrong!!!!
I really don't care about this cash grab but like ps plus premium offering nearly 100 games LESS for UK players, this is yet another case of Only American players exist to Sony and Fk anyone else
Midnight on a Thursday? Cmon I have to be up at 5am everyday and have kids…. At least do midnight on a Friday
I've pre-ordered the standard physical edition, I'm really looking forward to playing through this again upgraded for the PS5.
This is great news, but I cannot understand the logic of them choosing midnight on a weekday for the release. That pretty much limits it to (1) people in other times zone where it’ll be a more reasonable time of day and (2) people in the U.S. for whom it’s not an issue to stay up til midnight on a weekday (which is not most people: anyone who has to get up early for a “regular” job, caregiving responsibilities, etc., can’t readily stay up til midnight). All I can figure is that the target demographic for this batch really is folks in non-U.S. markets or the stereotypical high school/college aged gamer.
so people are crying for €50 but this is sold out. Ironic
They're only releasing it in the US b/c they figure after the PS5 price hike in the UK/EU you all won't have any money left to buy it.🤑
Does it come packed with NFTs? Cause if not it's horsecrap.
I believe this edition is also known as "Scalpers Edition"
@TommyNL probably not the same people. Big ND fan myself & bought almost every ND game (since PSX) on launch but they are losing the "customers" plot (Sony included). I already owe the PS3/PS4 version & could get the base game for around €60 but it felt wrong (no more FOMO)
@tselliot PSA: Stop getting Remasters and Remakes confused.
@Telin I know the difference. Same point to all of them. Be glad when the fad is over. Period. Just my opinion.
From every marketing pic I see you'd swear that ellie was the main character not joel. ND really dont like Joel do they
@Blaze215 I think they are both the main characters the chemistry between the two made the game so great.
Won’t be buying the game because I played the original. Would have if I hadn’t played it before
