UK Sales Charts: Horizon Forbidden West on Top Again Due to PS5 Bundle

When you have no other way to buy a disc or digital PS5 than with this bundle HFW digital code then it stands a good chance of being number one.

What you don’t see is Sony forcing you to buy the game and digitally for £50 else you don’t get a PS5 console. Has Sony release these bundles to shops instead of the console on its own.

Business as usual at Sony.

I wonder how many copies of Horizon Forbidden West have been sold as a result of the bundling.

It has to be one of the top selling games of the year surely.

I rather buy the original ps5 disc version.it is getting cheaper now.theres no way i will buy a only ps5 digital version. 😝 yuck.not even if it was 100$.word up son

@__jamiie yeh it's nuts , maybe they should start sending me a piece of paper everytime I buy a game online maybe then that would count as a physical sale too

HFW is a great game and deserves to be topping charts, those buying the bundles get a treat for their first game to play

@Martsmall wow that was quick. I think I have 5 campuses left. I've 3 starred the first 7. I'm going for the plat so there's annoying stuff to do like lose 5 cheeseball matches and stuff.

But yeah I really love how different the game feels from hospital. A lot of the annoying micromanaging has been done away with. It's like my staff have fully functioning brains. No more "looking for work" when there's literally a room 5 feet from them that needs them to work.

@SolarSailor That's Nintendo's 'evergreen' strategy at work. Nintendo's games and their marketing are designed specifically to pull in big sales years after release. It doesn't always work, but when it does it REALLY works.

@Martsmall that's true. Definitely some headaches. Training is tough since they just keep walking out of the room after I send them for training. Not even like they have a class to teach. Also I just did the music one where there was no need for security until I was going for 3 stars. I'm like wait what. I can't have several level 7 security all of a sudden

But amazing how each course is so unique. Excited for the DLC as well! Love how console is day and date with PC now

@UltimateOtaku91 It's not a forced bundle though (you can buy the Switch on its own or with different games), meanwhile PS5 and HFW is more like Wii and Wii Sports at this point where you have no choice but this time with a price increase.

That was my point, Sony themselves no other shops involved are forcing this bundle for you to have a chance of getting a PS5. Buy only releasing this bundle from their factory and not the console on its own.
Look don’t get me wrong, it’s smart business by Sony whilst the PS5 is still in high demand.
But goes to show the contentment they treat the gamer/general public with, especially as the game is a digital code.
One day they will get somehow bitten, just like in the tv market with Samsung and LG ruling all over them now. And just like before in the Walkman and video recorder market back in the day.

Nintendo do bundles too you think Mario Kart and Mario Odyssey would of sold that much without bundles.

Thankfully there's nothing worth getting the PS5 for at the moment.

Hopefully, when there eventually is something, I can get hold of a disc console without anything bundled with it (unless it's a second controller and charger dock)

@Dezzy70 @Grumblevolcano tbh it's still better than the forced bundles places like GAME and Shopto were forcing people to buy.

I bought my ps5 off shopto, had no choice but to get a bundle which had an extra controller, Deathloop, Ghost of tsushima and immortals Fenyx rising for £600.

Id be way happier getting this new bundle, I don't think any video games retailers are selling the PlayStation 5 on its own without it being in a bundle, unless its amazon or argos

I don't think the people who compile the charts have any access to digital sales figures, as companies don't release them.
I guess codes sold in stores count because they do know about them.
They are just doing the best with the information they have access to.

Totally agree better than some of those UK shop bundles especially Curry’s UK, that lot need taking down.
Especially with current hard situation of cost of living etc. goes to show most businesses don’t give a duck about anyone.

People who talk about HFW only being in the charts because of bundles conveniently forget to mention GT7 which has been a top 10 regular since launch, people buy the PS5 for it's flagship titles and they will sell regardless of being bundled or not.

Moaners need to find a reason to keep moaning. Forced bundle blah blah. Rarely heard anything from actual buyers. In fact this practice is quite common and HZD is a great game to be bundled with. The usual folks flock here to moan every week this news come up. Yeah yeah we already get your point.

Nothing is different if the others you mentioned were in the same circumstances.

Example. Sony know people want PS5 so instead of producing just the console they produce and dispatch the HFW bundle only and no console on its own. This then forces you to buy the bundle shipped with HFW by Sony if you want a PS5 as you have no other option as Sony are not shipping the console on its own and only the HFW bundle.

Don’t get me wrong great business sense. Make money whilst it lasts. But it’s a mean world.
Getting another £50 out of people especially during current hard times.

Tell you what it has taught me.
Back in 70s and 80s the world was a bit of naughty place UK etc and elsewhere.
After 40 years we have learnt nothing and as a race if we can get away with it we will.
Just like businesses do in this case Sony as it’s legal they have done nothing wrong.
It’s only because the laws have changed and been introduced on certain things and subjects that used to happen in the olds that there is better behaviour now, so the fear of getting caught or punished for your actions.
If these laws etc had not been introduced we would no different from the 80s. The human race it takes laws and fear to make us half decent beings.

The price is dropping fast for HFW. Didn’t expect that to be honest. Retailers pushing brand-new disc copies for as low as $20 here. Hell, I haven’t even seen GoT for that price yet.

By this logic, can you guess what the best selling PS5 game is?

To expand on the negative ranting logic here, how dare Sony pack in a game that I had no choice in owning. It's irrelevant if it's a showcase for the PS5's features (as much as HFW is also a showcase game).
Why oh why oh why did they just not sell it as a separate game, maybe £50 - £70 and just make the price of the PS5 £50 cheaper.

First of all well done and yes the direct store drop a few now and again. But nothing compared to the amount of HFW console bundles.
They drop a few to keep you sweet and make them look good.

Being honest it’s not an outrage, maybe we just expected better of companies now a days especially during current hard times.
But as all businesses go if there is a chance to make a few extra bucks no matter what they will do it.
Covid showed us that more than ever when people where suffer businesses were rubbing their hands with max profits in some areas. And very naughty people and businesses I guess bordering on criminal were exposing loop holes in funds and claiming them.

I still think the disc edition should be bundled with a disc. Sony used to be a lot better at always packaging consoles with disc copies of games.

Fair enough I was just going by what I have seen available for sale at my local shops and online.
It seemed all HFW bundle consoles in the UK
A lot more than 60/40 more like 90/10.
But then who am I to believe Sony and sales results from websites.
I go by what I see myself online and in shops.

@Shepherd_Tallon the biggest difference is those bundles are historically done to boost console sales by giving better value, by offering some new hot game.

This time you can’t boost sales beyond what they selling because demand is higher than manufacturing bandwidth, so this is simply results in a price hike. I know I been wanting a second PS5 for my living room and not only can’t I find one yet, chances are I’ll have to pay for a bundle that includes a game I already own.

@__jamiie What? So the proper PS5 doesn't come with an actual disc? Seem to remember the PS3 and PS4 coming with physical media. New Sony are just so cheap....

@sanderson72 No, it comes with a download code. Sony always used to bundle discs with their hardware in previous generations. My PSVR even had a disc with VR Worlds when I bought it.
