The Double Kickstarter project we have covered throughout the week has smashed past its initial asking amount of $750,000 and is sitting just north of the million-dollar mark at the time of writing. That means that both Armed Fantasia: To the End of the Wilderness and Penny Blood are officially coming to PS5, with an expected release window sometime in 2025.
While that does seem like a long way off, quality JRPGs aren't made overnight! It's nice to know that these dual projects are on the horizon and that the future of both the Wild Arms and Shadow Hearts franchises will live on, or at least they will in spirit.
If you haven't already, you can check out trailers for Armed Fantasia and Penny Blood. The next stretch goal will add New Game + to both titles at the 1.5 million-dollar mark. It's worth noting that the campaign has only been running for three days, with 28 more to go, so the sky is the limit on the potential for this one.
Are you excited for Armed Fantasia and/or Penny Blood? Let us know in the comments section below.

Kickstarter makes me antsy, but I’m glad to see these two games get funded. I do wonder why Sony hasn’t combed through some of the old gems from past generations to see what’s worth reviving through a developer partnership. It seems like there’s a lot of interest there.
Awesome news!
Although this is honestly such a small amount so I'm guessing they're going to be small games.
It's over £950,000 now, that's over $1M. That didn't take long
@RawnDawn if you read the kickstarter info, It says that this is for proof of concept. They pitched multiple publishers and couldn't get funding without it.
The kickstarter is to show the demand.
@Amnesiac Kickstarter is fine if you're selective about what you back. I've never been burned, and I wouldn't worry about these projects not turning out reasonably well, personally.
Great news, love Wild Arms. I'll be sticking with PC because of my SteamDeck. Turn-based jRPGs is what I love playing most on handheld.
I also have Vokabulantis and Inkulinati already on Kickstarter. See how many actually make it out in the next 3 years 🤞
@Amnesiac
Sony doesn't seem to have much interest in JRPGs these days, or anything really, that could be considered somewhat niche
@Amnesiac sony wont touch anything japanese with a 10 foot pole
@Ralizah I’m definitely hopeful, especially since I have fond memories of Wild Arms (still one of the best opening themes in gaming) and Shadow Hearts. My only gripe with Kickstarter is that it shifts risk directly to the consumer by crowdfunding the traditional role of a producer. Still, there are a lot of things that wouldn’t exist without it, so while I’m still antsy, I’m also glad that its available as a funding option.
@torne Ah that makes so much sense, thank you for the info mate, greatly appreciate it.
I hope a publisher give them a shot now that they met their goal.
@RawnDawn no problem. I'm really rooting for these too. They smashed their goal in the first 24 hours so this should prove to publishers that it's wanted.
never played Wild Arms but Armed Fantasia looks right up my alley.
@torne that seems kinda scummy on the publisher's part. "We'll fund you, but only if you raise $1M on your own because we don't want to fund you that much."
Is their publisher PQube?
@Milktastrophe I don't think it was "you need to raise money". Based on how they worded their kickstarter they brought their vision to multiple publishers and they didn't believe people wanted the games. The kickstarter proves otherwise.
Here is the quote... "We pitched multiple publishers and none would fund our games without proof of concept. We believe in these titles and have tons of great stories to tell, so instead of giving up, we are proceeding down the only path we have with crowdfunding—to show that these are games the fans want to play."
If publishers don't think they are going to recoup money then they don't fund. The crowdfunding shows that there are people out there that want these games. So this shows publishers they can get their money back.
I don't think it's scummy, it's just economics.
Both games look like fun, 2025 can't get here soon enough.
Nice one! I wanted Wild Arms 6 for a long time and i am sorely disappointed in Sony for not allowing it to happen.
Both these games look great on the teasers. I hope they do well. I will probably get both eventually. Armed Fantasia, for sure.
