Update: Following the screenshot leak earlier today, Ubisoft has officially announced Assassin's Creed Mirage. More information will be shared during the publisher's Ubisoft Forward livestream on 10th September 2022.
Original article: Images of what appears to be a pre-order quest for the currently unannounced Assassin's Creed Mirage have been put on social media. Rumoured to feature Assassin's Creed Valhalla character Basim as the main protagonist, this entry supposedly takes the series back to before many RPG elements were implemented. That is until Assassin's Creed Infinity comes along, at least. Take a look at the leaked pictures below.
Many prior Assassin's Creed titles have bundled in a bonus mission if you pre-order the game, and The Forty Thieves quest appears to be the accompanying quest for Mirage if you commit cash ahead of time. The Forty Thieves is said to be a popular story in Iraqi folklore, with the game itself reportedly set in Baghdad.
Assassin's Creed Mirage will almost certainly receive its official unveiling during a Ubisoft Forward livestream on 10th September 2022. Will you be tuning in to see what the game looks like in the flesh? Let us know in the comments below.

I am so intrigued to see how this game turns out! I really enjoyed Valhalla and Basim was a cool character so I'm 100% excited for this one!
Lets see how it is, I'm not getting excited yet. Not trying to spend 30+ hours on a game just to get to the opening title
Welcome to gaming in 2022 when we know about the pre-order incentives before the game is even revealed. Season Pass content next π
@theMEGAniggle thatβs so true ππ
would be nice if they made a modern assassins creed though
@nomither6 also used to want that, but doing so would lose alot of it's appeal tbh.
the historical setting is now the main selling point of AC afterall.
@PenguinLtd I usually try to beat all the in-game content, so playing Valhalla felt painful and meaningless. But once I've decided to follow the main missions and to abandon the idea of 100% walkthrough it became much more enjoyable.
Does a bonus mission acutally exite someone so much that they would pre-order a AC game just for that. I mean those games have so many side missions anyway, does one more actually matter?
Well Iβm definitely up for this! Basim was one of the best parts of Valhalla and Iβm excited to see what a traditional AC game looks like this gen.
@nomither6 Origins, Odyssey & Valhalla were just too much to actually enjoy π
I'm excited for the setting, and the idea of going a bit back to the older games sounds interesting. BUT, although losing the bloat, level gating and padding would be awesome IMO, other RPG stuff like dialogue choices and skill trees seems just fine, IMO. Ripping stuff out doesn't automatically make a game good, and I remember that the older AC games had plenty of padding, too.
TLDR: I'm worried this game might lose the good stuff about RPGs while keeping the bad stuff
Preorder? I thought it was a free to play game with GAS?
@Korgon hmm, so the game is based on him? I really thought ubisoft was done with older assassin's creed titles, keep an eye out for this one
Just trying to figure out how they'll make white Europeans the bad guys in this one?
@huyi AC Infinity is supposed to be the service game and I donβt think anybody ever said it would be free.
@huyi
I never thought old school AC would ever come back either and if I'm being honest I'm not sure this one game really means it's back for good or not. But even if this is just a one time deal I'll savor it!
If it actually does play like the old Assassin's Creed games, I may give this a chance. Not going to get hyped yet though, eventhough I consider myself a fan of the series, it has been pretty hit or miss.
I just started Odyssey, when I'm only halfway through Valhalla. Not my best decision.
"preorder bonus"
Gonna FOMO you in to giving us money before we provide a product, and before you can get a review.
I like the new style of AC more to be honest, but I'm still interested.
@Voltan so people are expected to pay for something like this? π€·ββοΈ
I really hope this game with basim shows some redemption at least smdh
@Korgon I'm with you on that one, it's our last hurrah before the series sinks ship lol
Cool more assassin creed is cool by me.i always enjoy theyre games.so its all good.word up son
If the rumours are true this will be a more focused Assassins Creed with focus on you, well, silly enough Assassins with a smaller world. And that sounds gold to me. Valhalla and Odyssey were fine but weβve really lost track of what the essence of Assassins Creed series used to be.
My dream would be gone with the items and RPG stuff. Combo-based combat, like Batman or Spider-Man. Still upgrades through neat trinkets and so on. And then main game taking place in a city environment. And please, less god-world stuff. Stay in the mortal realm.
@PenguinLtd Same here. If it's going back to its roots, then I might actually check it out.
Though I'm worried if they'll implement some kind of microtransactions.
Hopefully this will be great as Valhalla was. Iβm on the Valhalla dlc 165 hours in. Loving every minute. Love the games that you can play for hours. Wouldnβt waste my money on anything less than 20 hours.
The picture is already getting me very excited! Would love to see it go back to the older games again and have good parkour in it.
As much as I love the newer games, the older ones is what I prefer. Still playing Valhalla at 250 hours. lol. Platinum already achieved and started playing Dawn of Ragnarok. Just need to get all trophies for that and then The Forgotten Saga to be finished. Need a smaller game after this one
If its a Valhalla sized game, i'll be skipping. Give us a good coherent straight forward single player game 30ish hours max and i'll preorder right away
"The Forty Thieves is said to be a popular story in Iraqi folklore..."
It's literally one of the most famous folk tales ever told, anywhere in the world. What the heck does "is said to be" mean? Lol
As I am in a Assasin's Creed journey since last year, this will be a pre-order for me!!
Oh boy! There's a crowd! There's a city! There's an actual Assassin/Hidden One! I honestly can't believe it! I eagerly await the full reveal!
Hopefully it's a significant shift away from Valhalla. That was by far the worst AC in a decade. Bland, boring, terrible story and setting.
I expect little change and innovation from Ubisoft, especially in this case where they are using Basim from that terrible game. At least the setting sounds better, but their shift away from much that made the original story line awesome to this hidden one's nonsense is a bummer. It's clear why they did it (too close to the real truth), but still It was far more interesting with storylines that were deep and focused on the Isu and the secret societies chasing their tech. Now it's just an afterthought for their copy and pasted gameplay in whatever historical setting they choose.
@theMEGAniggle I think this will be more like AC games of old.. Assassinations and smaller levels rather than open world.
I'm on the fence. I love the AC series from the first through Syndicate. From Origins on... it's been ok but long winded to the point that I have to force myself to complete them. I still haven't beat Valhalla and I've had it since the PS5 launched.
If it's like the originals... I'll pick it up. If it's like the last few... then I'll pass.
I hope it doesn't just try to replicate the first AC cuz that one got boring real quick
If it's too much like 1 - Revelations, I'll wait for a sale.
If it's like the new trilogy or even Syndicate I'll be tempted to get it day one.
These comments are humorous. They go back and forth between people who prefer the stealth, parkour and assassinations of the original games and those that like the open world, exploration and lengthy quests of the more recent ones. Itβs like reading the comments in any The Last of Us article, alternating between the people who would never pay seventy dollars to play it again and the others that canβt wait until Friday.
Wonder how many of you "I am so bored of Assassins Creed etc" are here showing your interest.
Color me intrigued. Honestly I'm always down for some Ass Creed, as long as it's not massively huge as Valhalla was.
Love these fake leaks to create a bit of publicity π
An actual assassin in assassin's creed & not a huge boring open world hopefully
Looking forward to the reveal, the picture looks cool.
@KundaliniRising333 The Hidden Ones are Assassin's though. Also your complaints about not focusing on the Isu make zero sense when Odyssey and Valhalla focus on them more then any other game in the series, i mean Eivor is Odin reborn and Basim is literally Loki who in AC lore are both Isu we mistook for Gods.
@Fill3rup_ in a bussing city and not a whole ass empty country ππ
I really really hope there's no future storyline, I don't understand why ubisoft still making those future gameplay/story section.
Is this the start of the AC Infinity thing? Is Ubi even still doing that?
Oh boy! More climbing to the highest point in an area to synchronize the map. Yaay!!!
The old games were done to death and people were bored of them. Now all of the sudden we want that back. No thanks, I want a good game, not returning to something we were fed up with years ago.
A change is more than welcome, but something better, not old
