Update: Following on from its Night City Wire broadcast announcement, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it'll be sharing details on Cyberpunk 2077's next patch. A developer stream will take place after the show, and the team will be talking about "all the new stuff coming to Cyberpunk 2077 with the next update".
We don't yet know when this update will launch, but we assume that it could be quite substantial. The last major patch saw the release of 2077 on PS5 back in February, and with that one, the title was significantly improved through a huge list of of adjustments and additions.
Original Story: Bloody hell, it's been quite some time since we last had a proper update on the state of Cyberpunk 2077. The much, much, much improved open world RPG finally arrived on PS5 in February, but developer CD Projekt Red has been super quiet ever since. All we really know is that most of its staff are currently hard at work on the game's expansion.
Patience is a virtue, though (no, not that kind of virtu!). The studio has just announced a special Night City Wire broadcast, which will be streamed next week, on Tuesday the 6th September. It kicks off at 4PM UK time / 5PM Central Europe / 8AM US Pacific / 11AM US Eastern.
CDPR is promising a new look at the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime (which comes to Netflix next month), plus what all Night City fans have been waiting for: an update on what's happening with Cyberpunk 2077. It's possible that we'll get a release window for the aforementioned expansion, or perhaps news on the title's next patch (assuming there's one in the pipeline). Hopefully it's worth a watch!
Oh, and speaking of the anime, CDPR has revealed that a pre-premiere screening of the first two episodes will be taking place in Seattle this weekend (coinciding with PAX West). You can find additional details by clicking through here. As such, we should be getting a heads up on the show's quality very soon.

All I can think of is "Yawn"
Look, CDPR, we don't care.
Where is the current-gen Witcher update!?
Jokes aside, the last version of this ran for about 5 hours and was so long-winded. I hope this one is more to the point.
I really forgot that this game is still supposed to get DLC
TW3 got two big DLCs within one year and meanwhile CP2077 is almost two years old. Just showes how many things had to be fixed with this game
Jesus. Let this garbage die and work on fixing your terrible business model, workplace environment, and for the love of God update your 15 year old UI.
This game has effectively been written off as it should be considering it amounted to fraud on several fronts. CDPR has a lot of work to do to save face and they will likely never be the celebrity/savior company for their home country that they once were.
Where's that next Gen Witcher update?! Crickets chirping on that...
I picked it up when the PS5 version first came out. It's a pretty fun game for sure but I didn't finish it unfortunately. Elden Ring came out and I just never got back to it. I still got it installed though since I do want to finish it some day.
I got genuine fatigue from that with all the popping neon 😵💫 must get back
Still in the middle of trying to finish it but christ the gameplay makes me want to play something else.
I enjoyed the base game immensely and have been eagerly anticipating DLC. The anime looks interesting also.
People sure love to dunk on this game with any opportunity they can...y'all can delta the f out.
I'm definitely excited to jump back into Night City if additional content is added. I'm sure they are mainly focused on Witcher 4 now, but they created one helluva world in this game.
If anything, I'm waiting on The Witcher 3 PS5 update release date news from them
As long as they release the expansions in a decent state, I'll be quite eager to get back to it and revisit Night City.
Have to say, I'm about 6 hrs on a series x and have been having a pretty decent time with this game. Some dlc would be well timed.
I’m more interested in a Witcher 3 update than Cyberpunk. It’s due out Q4 and we still haven’t seen any next-gen gameplay 🙄 another delay incoming? 🤔
Shame about this game. I was excited about it before it came out but never played it. Not fussed about playing it either, might do one day.
I was thinking about finally getting around to starting it soon so will see what's new.
Assuming the third series of The Witcher releases in December like the first 2, I think they are probably planning on revealing/releasing the PS5 update then.
@Jayslow They made it pretty easy for us to do so with their horrible handling of the game. They even got sued for it and got kicked out of the PS store that a big drop from fan favorite to that.
Updated the story with confirmation from CDPR that a new patch is coming.
I finally started this game since I got a PS5 and I've been liking it okay. I haven't had many technical issues but the game just feels like it's lacking something. It just doesn't have that cohesive feeling of Witcher and I don't think the first-person gameplay is all that great.
I loved the game. It had some of the most memorable side quests of any rpg in recent memory. The ps4 version was rough, but the PS5 version fixed just about everything. So, I will happily purchase the expansion when it comes out.
@Jayslow
This. CP2077 is a fantastic game now that it's received the PS5 upgrade. Can't wait for DLC. Already have 4 playthroughs under my belt, 3 on PS5 and one on XSX. That said, I would welcome some news on The Witcher 3 PS5/XSX version.
@Jayslow You can't really blame them when CDPR lied about the content and the state of the console versions.
I hope the patch adds something new to the game beside improvements. Hopefully ready for the dlc although if i remember right keanu wont be in it as the new area mutes him or something. New game plus would be nice
What I played of it was decent playing post next gen update) but ultimately fell off. The main story was interesting enough but the side missions had me constantly thinking "should I really be doing this given the circumstances V is faced with are really urgent" That's not very good for the immersion role playing aspect of the game.
Glad others are enjoying it and getting new content though.
I absolutely loved getting the platinum trophy in this game, looking forward to some DLC. Hopefully we can finally move on from the endless whining. Yes, they majorly f'd up the launch. We get it
I still haven't jumped in since the next gen update, I really should. I only played a little of the game, and what's there isn't really that special, but also isn't really bad. Seems like a solid gritty WRPG overall. It's no Deus Ex. But it's not bad, and somehow parts of the world stick in my head even though I didn't think they seemed special at the time.
I can't get back into this game, I tried downloading the PS5 version and it still feels really dated as an FPS RPG. I was loving the story until the millionth crash made me give up, but it just feels really weird to get back into gameplay wise and visually, which is strange. Still looks blurry and poor.
Witcher 3 PS5 update instead please 👍
@KundaliniRising333 I played this after the PS5 version was released , it was excellent . a fantastic game that had a terrible launch, the boards fault for releasing it before it was finished.
@BloodEagle I havent booted it up since the PS5 update,. Mainly because it wasnt merely the technical issues that turned me away. It is an unfinished game and that is clear when you play it and see the filler content on the map and so much emptiness and unfulfilled promises.
The first-person gunplay is lackluster and clunky, the UI is copy and pasted from the Witcher series, where it was already dated after the first witcher.
The story and characters just meh. The world lifeless and robotic. It needed another year at minimum of development and even then, I question whether it would have ever been fully realized in that toxic work environ. CDPR has lost all credibility with me and countless others.
I stopped playing to wait for the next gen patch, however even when released I have ZERO desire to jump back in. Now they have just gone full silent, even on the next Gen Witcher update.
I suspect CDPR is in a great deal of inner turmoil that still has yet to subside.
@KundaliniRising333 Picked up the disk for $5 back before the PS5 upgrade was available - between that and having it free on PS Plus Extra, I'll get to it some day, and I expect to enjoy it even if I'm not blown away by it.
That said, I never did finish Witcher 3. Looking forward to the PS5 version, coming sooner or later, and probably patched to be playable just before the PS6 is announced.
cyberpunk has been a joke for so long... now, it is just sad to see any news related to it. there is no passion left from the dev team — it is just PR and obligations to tie up some loose threads at this point. the sooner cdpr drops this game for good, the better. free up those resources and pour them into a new game for one last opportunity at redemption.
as soon as i saw the netflix adaptation release date i expected an update and it's about time we get that promised dlc 2 years later.
Preem. I'm ready for my 6th playthrough when the expansion is ready.
@Jayslow can only back up your statement. Those who waited for the fixes and didn't jump on to the comment board hate train got a fantastic game. There's a good amount of people here who just love to hate on the internet instead of actually playing and enjoying games.
Just waiting for some new story expansion to dive back in.
So many characters and story lines they can use. Really excited to see what they will use.
I bet Cyberpunk 2077 will get a free DLC tie in to its new show like Witcher 3 will be getting eventually. I just want news on the DLC expansions, how much they’ll cost (I doubt they’ll stay free), and if they involve Mr. Blue Eyes. Cyberpunk 2077 was a blast to play on the PS5, though it was still buggy as can be.
I’d love a sequel down the line but CDPR makes huge, expansive games. I can’t see them going full throttle with both Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 at the same time.
@Jayslow Yeah they sound extremely repetitive and boring trashing this game any chance they get. Cyberpunk 2077 is a lovely game, beautiful unique packed world with fun gameplay, can't wait to start my 2nd run. At least it's easy to get into this than Yakuza, even with all the bugs.
Still waiting on a PS5 first.. not gonna play Cyberpunk on my Pro as I hear a lot of good things about it and it would feel like a waste
Ready to dive back into Night City if new content is on the horizon. Base game was truly enjoyable when CDPR finally managed to work out the performance issues and the game-breaking bugs.
They will want to cross promote with the upcoming Netflix Anime that looks absolutely "preem". Netflix has been great with adapting games into animation.
@Flurpsel It's solid on the Pro but if you can play it on a PS5 in the near future the difference will be worth it
I'll buy this dlc...FOR A DOLLAR!
@Jayslow The world is not the problem, it’s everything I hoped it would be. The gameplay is just so confusing though that I never connected with the game. All those menu items, the confusing map, the complex story… Didn’t want to invest any more time.
How is the ps5 version of this game?
@Jimmer-jammer Anime will be worth watching just for Trigger alone.
@Darylb88 yeah there arent a lot of games I really want to play on the ps5 so I figured I'd save this one for later when (if) I finally get one. To be honest thats also the reason I havent put too much effort in acquiring a ps5.
@ShadowofSparta I’m not very familiar with anime and have never heard of Studio Trigger until now so this will be a first for me! Looking forward to it.
I think people would prefer an update on their witcher 3 upgrade
I still haven't touched my physical copy yet, waiting for all of the story DLC to be released and for the game to be mostly fixed.
Imagine paying full price for this. They failed so brutally that no one should support their garbage.
From all the crucifying going on on this page, you sure are selective..
who cares???? who cares???? who cares???? who cares????
