Cyberpunk 2077's first expansion has been teased. Officially titled 'Phantom Liberty', it apparently sees V swear an oath to the New United States government in order to undergo some kind of assignment. And, contrary to supposed leaks earlier in the year, Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as Johnny Silverhand for the DLC.
That's all we have to go on for now. Phantom Liberty is set to release in 2023, but we probably won't have a confirmed date for a while yet. Will you be taking a trip back to Night City for this one? Chant USA! in the comments section below.

Very cool, but not for me. Still have yet to play this game, never understood the hype.
Glad to hear this. Despite all the negative things I enjoyed the game.
But won't this DLC be the only one CDPR plans to release?
Will it be a free expansion, be surprised if it is these days
Still no interest in the game. But glad to see CDPR realized it just isn't worth it for last-gen (sucks for those without PS5 however!). Clearly wanna avoid running into the same disaster once more.
I love Cyberpunk 2077 so much and all I wanted was more Cyberpunk 2077 so I'm happy about this.
"PS5 only!!!" I had to go elsewhere to see that this is also on XSX|S. The headline made it seem like perhaps Sony had paid for exclusivity. Glad it's not.
@Golem25 I played for 4 hours and got bored. Not for me.
@Beerheadgamer82 Well considering its meant to be on the scale of TW3 expansions then no quite fairly its not free.
I ended up loving the PS5 version despite heavily disliking the PS4 version so i'm very excited for this and being back in this world.
@Golem25 an easy fix, play the game and that would help you understand.
It's very entertaining and easily worth the budget price it's at. I'm definetly up for some DLC
Pumped for this! Loved the base game.
@Beerheadgamer82 CDPR stated long time ago, expansions will NOT be for free.
I'm so glad that Johnny is still with V. I always love them two chatting the sh*t together. Can't bloody wait for this.

@REALAIS @WallyWest I thought there was talk of free DLC for Cyberpunk after release unless they've already given away free DLC in something else smaller. Got no issues with paying for worthy expansions, just thought all the DLC going forward on Cyberpunk was gonna be free. This expansion it seems has far to much put into it for it to be free, I'm fine with that
I appreciate the PS5 only indication. Let's me know I can go ahead and play the PS4 version without worrying about having to come back to it later after DLC. Then I can wait for all DLC to release before playing the PS5 version.
I'm still on PS4, so it seems I'll have to skip this expansion unfortunately.
@Beerheadgamer82 yes, but DLC is something else. It is not Expansion. And those DLC's were given out already. Tho all of those were pretty small. They use two terms DLC and Expansions. One is free and one is not.
@Beerheadgamer82 We already had free DLC its just they included it in the updates. The model was always the TW3 way in that we get smaller DLC for free and then later on big expansions at a cost.
Altered the headline for the sake of clarity.
Well at least Keanus in it. He was the main reason i enjoyed the game although he was miscast
@WallyWest @REALAIS yh I think my confusion comes from not installing the PS5 version yet cause so many games need to finish first. Ain't played Cyberpunk since the disappointing PS4 release. The news coming from this payed expansion and future free updates seems really promising today even if a bit on the late side. Although if unable to get a PS5 yet then this is disappointing?
Extremely flawed and yet one of the most fun games in the market. Really loved Night City.
I'll take it. Finally went through the campaign this past March after the next gen upgrade was released and really enjoyed it. Will look forward to play this expansion.
Very good. I hope they up the level cap, so I can platinum the game without starting a new campaign. trophy hunters will understand what I mean...
If only it was like this at release where they ACTUALLY skipped last gen systems but screwing over developers seems to be the upper management's favorite thing to do still.
@WallyWest They said the first expansion would be free as an apology for the disaster people paid for. A needed apology, so, it shouldn’t cost money considering the scam they already pulled.
@ShogunRok Thanks for the clarity edit. I didn't see the original but it looks just fine now. And you know what a stickler I am. 😉
@Jaz007 They didn't, they said the smaller DLC additions would be free, and they have been. As far as I'm aware, the expansion(s) were always going to be paid, like they were for The Witcher 3.
The price point for the 2077 expansion will be interesting, though. TW3's expansions were famously cheap.
@Danloaded Completely disagree. Keanu made the game for me a slug. His monotone voice got so annoying I couldn't wait to finish the game. To each their own though.
@Jaz007 No they didn't, they said smaller DLC would be free but always said expansions would be paid. Honestly its quite unrealistic to expect expansions to be free, this is meant to be of the level of what the TW3 expansions were.
Finally!... Day 1
Regardless if on it or not - should not be played on a PS4. just like should not play it on a GTX1050. It is a waste.
Save it until you get new hardware.
Good to see PS4 out to pastures of old 👍🏻
I'm really looking forward to this.
@Nepp67 can't blame last gen for the game being a buggy mess the pc version was the same & no one forced them to sell & release a game that they knew full well wasn't ready
@Would_you_kindly
Actually they were forced to release the game due to executive pressure. Cyberpunk's developers knew the game wasn't finished and needed more time in the oven and yet when it released everyone started harassing the developers and even some sent death threats. Real classy there folks.
@PegasusActual93 I meant no one forced whoever's decision it was to release it obviously they just did it because of greed
@Would_you_kindly
Not the actual development team no. Higher ups who had nothing to do with the company. But people blame the developers anyway.
@PegasusActual93 Either that or the fanboys of Cyberpunk blame other people for "rushing" the devs.
@Nepp67
Considering people literally sent Sony Saint Monica death threats because the new God of War was delayed due to Krato's voice actor having to recover from an injury as if that was anyone's fault is a thing that actually happened; yeah gamers who don't understand a damn thing about game development can be very awful too.
@PegasusActual93 thats what I meant the people in charge
Still have it installed but haven't played it yet still(PS5). So they added more content to the game today too huh(for free). I dunno when im going to get around to this as im playing other things with my free time but free stuff is nice. Hopefully i'll have played and finished the game by the time this expansion comes out(which will probably be paid but that's fine).
Really really enjoyed my time with 2077 on PS5, so I'm happy with this news. I wish they delayed for year to get their **** together, but this is where we are at.
It is a great game now!
Since when did “expansions” and “DLC” become two seperate things? People in comments claiming thus is standard? What? What other games make that distinction?
Also plenty of games have given sizeable “updates” for free.
People do talk in comments like the know everything and patronise everyone else.
This maybe paid for content but (and that’s fine) it’s not been clear from any of the articles…. Making ridiculous claims about wording and how the industry works is stupid. Every firm seems to make up what they call DLC/updates/expansions etc. i would say there is no longer an industry standard.

Absolutely! Hate it on all. I get it's for SEO reasons but if you can't even tell the news clearly then it's failing at it's primary task.
I still need to play thru this game, but the DLC trailer does seem cool based on the preview image.
