EA, the publisher of FIFA and Mass Effect, has signed a publishing partnership with Koei Tecmo and Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force for the “next great hunting game”. The title will release under the EA Originals label, which has already helped ship critically acclaimed projects like It Takes Two, a Game of the Year winner in 2021.
The adventure will be a “truly AAA experience” set in a “fantasy feudal Japan” – a dream for our very own ShogunRok, then!
“The EA team fully embraces our creative independence and has become invaluable partners offering both development and publishing support,” a chuffed Koei Tecmo executive vice president Yosuke Hayashi said. “Adding the global resources of EA with our own will help us introduce a new kind of hunting game to a global audience of players and expand our reach into global markets. I’m really looking forward to the day that gamers from around the world can play this new game.”
EA bigwig Jeff Gamon added: “Building on the incredible success of EA Originals, which includes the recent releases of It Takes Two and Knockout City, we’re thrilled to be partnering with the amazingly talented Omega Force team. They’ve elevated the hunting genre to the next level, merging their proven talent for combat gameplay with unexpected and innovative mechanics. We can’t wait to introduce their ground-breaking new adventure to the world later this month.”

Okay, then!
Oh god, that thumbnail made me think EA was buying Koei Tecmo ...You almost gave me a heart attack, Sammy. 🤣
As long as they're just forking over money it could turn out alright.
I... I see.
Ohhh, hunting like in Monster Hunter or Toukiden. I was really confused for a second as to why Koei Tecmo was involved in a game where you dress in camouflage with bright orange accents and attempt to vanquish the mighty white tailed deer.
This is too weird to be bad. Honestly I wish more publishers were doing this kind of stuff
"Hunting game", set in feudal Japan, from KT, so it's a new Toukiden..
@Athrum but with free to play/gatcha/loot box type elements...
@uptownsoul Feudal Japan is one of the biggest settings for any game set in Japan, though. Hell, Koei Tecmo has the Samurai Warriors series based on it, plus Capcom had Onimusha. Ghost of Tsushima wasn't the first game in that setting and won't be the last.
@Vil: Same here, I was about to get real angry when I first saw the thumbnail.😅
Monster Hunter is my second favourite franchise, but it would be nice to see it get some legitimate competition.
This reminds me of back in the PS2 days when EA published and localized the original Kessen and then, a few years later, EA distributed the original Samurai Warriors for Koei.
@uptownsoul don’t forget Trek to Yomi was heavily inspired by Ghost of Tsushima too!
Can’t wait for the micro transaction to buy the chain for Nunchucks.
EA, so that's a NO.
I hope it's not like Toukiden. Love the idea of those games but that kind of gameplay isn't for me.
I really need to see something before im happy they even made a horribly bland game with Insomniac FUSE wasnt it.
Guess it will be like toukiden
