Ted Lasso, the fictional football manager from Apple TV’s hit show, will feature in FIFA 23 – because of course he will. In fact, you’ll also be able to take control of his AFC Richmond team across virtually all modes, including Career, Kick-Off, Online Friendlies, and much more. For Ultimate Team players, there’ll be a number of goodies to unlock, including “kits, tifos, and Manager items”.
In addition to players like Roy Kent, Jamie Tartt, Sam Obisanya, and Dani Rojas, you’ll also be able to play in AFC Richmond’s home stadium, Nelson Road. “It is so f***ing cool to be in FIFA. I’m not sure this is going to help dispel the CGI rumours but f*** it, totally worth it,” said Brett Goldstein, who plays AFC Richmond player Roy Kent. “I look forward to beating my nephew in a game with me as Roy Kent and him as Jamie Tartt. He’s gonna be furious.”
Actor Jason Sudeikis, who plays the titular gaffer, added: “I am truly fortunate, and deeply grateful, to have had many special moments in my career thus far, and I consider this experience among the best of them. As long-time fans of EA Sports FIFA, having Ted Lasso and the whole AFC Richmond squad incorporated into the newest version of the game is truly a dream come true for myself and the rest of the fellas.”

So much for skipping FIFA after seeing the USMNT disgraceful Cup kits....
CGI man is now in CGI.
Never heard of him. Neither of the show.
Love the show. The EA Marketing machine.
A clearly real response from Brett Goldstein and some cookie cutter PR response from representatives of Jason Sudeikis it looks like.
Neither Ted Lasso or FIFA know how to play a decent game of football. It's kismet.
I think this was a no brainer for FIFA, since CGI man is already in CGI!
Now can we please add Mike Bassett: England Manager with Wacko, Tonka, Smallsey and the gang. 🙏🏻😂🏴⚽️
Did I... did I do this?????
Makes sense for a game like this I guess.
I'm more interested in Lasso's appearence in Multiversus (going by the datamining) though.
eww talk about a ridiculous gimmick.
Good bit of fun. Why not. I like this.
FIFA trying to cover up how morally bankrupt they are by throwing biscuits at us daily, how sweet.
Love Ted Lasso! I got 6 months of Apple tv for free through my PS5, and have almost finished season 2 of Ted Lasso. It still won’t make me buy FIFA 23 though!
@Jackpaza0508 Haha, love this!
This is awesome, looking forward to this years
Not a fan of EA's FIFA (or of what the rest of the world calls "football," either - I just don't get the strategy, it looks like keep-away for an hour with the rare kick at the goal), but if this ends up free on PS Plus a month or two before the next year's version comes out, I'll give it a shot just to play as Roy Kent and be coached by Ted Lasso.
Reception ain't been too well but I think it's nice marketing.
@Jackpaza0508 you're bound to a sacred oath now mate
Not into football at all ....yet I really enjoy Ted Lasso.
I hate to say, but this blatant marketing gimmick is ... working! Dammit! I'm actually considering buying FIFA 2023. What has the world come to! Cats will be marrying dogs shortly...
