Football Manager 2023 has been announced for PS5, marking the first time the series has ever appeared on a Sony home console. Portable platforms PSP and PS Vita received their own versions of the sporting management simulator, but this year's edition makes its way across to the PS5. It releases on 8th November, 2022.
Very little is known about this year's version, with the announcement trailer giving nothing away. Instead, it recaps some statistics players accumulated during last year's game. More information will be shared at the end of this month and then throughout October. The early November release date means football fans may have to choose between taking their team to Premier League glory and God of War Ragnarok. Just three days separate the two titles, but there's no PS4 version for last-gen players.
Studio director Miles Jacobson said: "Fans have been calling for us to produce a PlayStation title for a number of years, so I'm excited for those players to now get the chance to experience the closest thing to being a real football manager."

I am all over this! I haven't played a manager game since Premier Manager on the Amiga. Oh man, I am going to be so addicted to this if it's good. Trouble is Brentford have made it to the Premier League so there goes the rags-to-riches story I used to play out.
Genuinely buzzing for this 👍
Well I’m buzzing! Love it on the PC.
I remember the Boss of the Studio saying (in a salty way) on Twitter that the last Manager Games didnt release on Playstation because Sony didnt ask them to port it (in comparsion to Microsoft) haha
@nessisonett wonder if it will be like The Skywalker Saga? Still waiting to know what that's about.
@IonMagi I remember. They didn't port it because Sony didn't send them dev kits 🙄😁
about flipping time.
one of a very few day ones for me. so many hours will be lost.
fingers crossed its a proper port and not just from mobile
@riceNpea As if they didnt get them anyway I mean...they are owned by Sega lol
Nothing like managing some football, this seems delightful for the PS5. Are these kind of games at all good?
Fingers crossed its not the ***** scaled down version xbox gets...
I was quietly excited for last year's version Gamepass and to me it's unplayable. The control scheme is awful and the amount of bugs and weird things going on is unforgivable.
The LMA control scheme needs to be acknowledged as THE console sport manager interface and not the festering steaming mess we currently have. It's so bad, the only thing I can compare it to is using Teletext back in the day. It's slow, cumbersome and poorly designed.
@darkwario1 if you like management games this is best one out there vwry indepth
@themcnoisy i read elsewhere it has been designed around dualsense, so wont be as good as M+K BUT Hopefully Useable
Eh, my opinion on SI has soured a ton in the last few years despite regularly getting the PC version. It feels like they're at a point where they're printing money so they put in the bare minimum effort to improve the product.
Release date would suggest this might go straight into the PS plus. Fingers crossed!
@themcnoisy I've played both previous years on Xbox and found the controls simple and easy to use
A tough decision this year now, buy it on laptop or on my main gaming device. A good problem to have.
There goes a nice chunk of EA's FIFA users that buy the game purely for the manager mode. This game does it on another level since that's all it focuses on.
@themcnoisy
I've been playing it near enough non stop on series x and haven't encountered any of these issues, neither has my friend.
I actually prefer this to tge pc version. 90% of the sane game, but gets rid of the tedious parts that seems to bloat/slow things down.
Still enjoying 22 edition now, one of the only games I never truly tire of. Well pleased for any PS5 owners that'll be able to lose hours to it too this year.
Now I played maybe one football manager game back in the day on PC when I used to have a general use PC at home (FM 2010, I think) and I put quite a few addictive hours into it. West Ham overhaul, 3-5-2/5-3-2 attacking, passing football with wonderful, but realistic signings Milan Baros from Galatasaray, and Darijo Srna from Shakhtar, taking me to the Premier League Title race and eventually winning the league, and to European adventures, was a very memorable experience.
If the Database is really solid and attributes and stats are properly deep and meaningful and it's not like a kiddy kind of version to sell more copies, then I'm interested. Scouting players from other leagues that could fit my system (not just looking up Brazilian wonderkids) is my favourite element of these games. Taking players who have certain traits that fit in to a certain style and seeing them absolutely play above their expected level is a joy.
Surprised its taken this long. Will definitely get this in the next couple of months.
I love football manager but can’t imagine playing on a console. More on my laptop whilst also console gaming
Great news football manager on ps5 for first time, will definitely get this on release assuming it's very much like the pc version and can take united back to the top lol:)
Championship Manager 01/02 was my favorite game back in the day but haven't played football manager since 2010
@DualWielding
This. Always picked Newcastle United and always hopelessly tried to land Gabriel Batistuta 😑 I did, however, once manage to acquire Ronaldinho 😁
Aaaah balls. By not owning a decent PC I've avoided this time vortex. Now it looks like I will have to quit my job and become a full time manager of an obscure 3 division Portuguese team.
Wow finally!!!!!!! This is fantastic news
One of the reasons I wanted to buy a Steam Deck is to play FM.
FM was basically my ‘me time’ throughout Uni.
I’ve not dabbled in it since FM17 as my laptop can no loner handle it. I’m all about the large database & finding the next superstar even if it takes like 5mins to change the day over.
I just hope it’s not toned down & they can get the control scheme right. I don’t know how they would let you scroll through 40k players though- that UI needs to be on point.
Be interesting if they incorporate mouse and.keyboard as is possible.. but either/or I am very pleased it's coming to PlayStation finally
@riceNpea Haha! Yep, same here, but as a Wrexham supporter, I can still achieve that rags to riches story!
Wow, great news.
Oh for God's sake, how am I going devote any time to being a functional human now I can get football manager platinum.
@dellyrascal a few other sites have a bit more info and SI say its been 'tailored' for dualsense.
About time the only game THAT RESPECTS and has ALL scottish leagues unlike disrespectful Fifa and no il won't be going English club win the Premier league been there done that am going my club Falkirk FC these days though there a sleeping giant of scottish football stuck in league one for u English thats the 3rd division 😁 been playing FM on my pc and xbox one but for 1st time ever il be playing on ps5 it's going to be Glorious ( Bobby Roode)
@Bamila exactly but unlike fifa FM adds the scottish leagues and others fifa won't add
Can you manage international teams on this? For example England?
We had some off brand titles like LMA Manager on the PS2 and the PS1. Will be interesting to see how this compares to the PC version and if it allows mods/community downloads.
@stvevan. Thanks for that.. much appreciated
@B80 @StylesT it was one of the first games I installed on my new Xbox. I did have teething issues initially when I started it, possibly didn't download properly? God knows. I will give it another bash some time if it's still on GP.
