Game Informer has returned with another fresh look at God of War Ragnarok. This time, another short video introduces us to Svartalfheim, a dwarven realm that's new for the sequel. It was one of the locked areas in God of War, but all nine realms will be open in the upcoming title.
Anyway, Svartalfheim is all about "dwarven ingenuity", and we get to see what that means in the above clip. Huge industrial structures, complex machinery, and impressive built-up areas define this realm, and it'll feature many environmental puzzles for players to tackle.
It's a brief video, but the new realm looks like another visually exciting place to explore. We can't wait to do so on 9th November. What do you think of Svartalfheim in God of War Ragnarok? Tell us in the comments section below.

Looks amazing
Intresting looking level! My hype meter is in overdrive 😀👏
That'll be why those realms were blocked in God of War then.
Looks like more of the same but I'm not complaining. Other than some minor pacing issues and a fairly uninteresting postgame I'm not really sure how they could improve from the first one.
@Ooccoo_Jr Agreed. I mean, we KNOW it's going to be great, obviously, but it's definitely more of the same, and this isn't exactly the most exciting way to show off the game: generic and simple environmental puzzles - Lara Croft isn't exactly going to lose sleep over these challenges.
Still, "as good as the first" will still mean pretty great.
@Royalblues Kratos will have fire and ice weapons so I'm betting this game will introduce a lighting hammer or sword.
N.i.c.e. another masterpiece coming.its going to be a game of the year contender.word up son
Ah yes, environmental puzzles, how I love you so much. NOT!
Hmmm just so much of the same. This is really Looking and being shown in a way that is so underwhelming. Wtf is Sony and Co doing??
It's actually looks even more so bow like dlc and completely iterative. Perhaps this is why they are showing next to nothing, just as they did with tlou1 cash grab. Perhaps this was always intended to be dlc, then they chose to flash out the story and length into an iterative sequel.
If the game doesn't address the simple, repetitive level design, gameplay, and enemy designs , and pacing in its gameplay, ... What a missed opportunity
@Dr_Luigi It is like movie trailers... They show you everything essential in one minute. The rest of movie is just fluff... That's why I don't watch trailers, teasers and other advertisements, because than it is no need to watch/play it.
I don't know... when this GoW 6 will be for £10 I'll think about it. OK. If I'll be able to kill dwarfs, than I pay even £15 but not more.
I'm gonna love this game, but gotta say...
The water physics are abysmal and lacking, just like the first one, which continues the trend of a second generation in a row simply not caring about physics and only graphics.
Which is a shame tbh
texture pop in 22 seconds in..
These gameplay videos are so short
@riceNpea Maybe you get Thor's hammer after defeating him
@KundaliniRising333 FIFA , cod , assassin's creed etc are more of the same every release & they're some of the biggest selling games , there's nothing wrong with this game being 'more of the same' when the first game was great
@Ooccoo_Jr One thing I’d really like to see is a return of the giant boss battles…that’s the only thing I really felt missing in God of war 2018. I’d love at least one encounter with a boss the size of a mountain!
@BartoxTharglod How are we defining sequels? To me a sequel is a direct continuation of a story - I’m not sure Breath of the wild was that? Zelda iterations are generally their own game …so can differ wildly in art style and gameplay from one to the next. Breath of the wild 2 next year is a direct sequel…I don’t expect it to look like wind waker or links awakening. I do expect it to bring new gameplay to the table though.
God of war 2018 is a continuation of the god of war story. I’d class that as a sequel. I’d class it’s complete distinctiveness to god of war 3 as a rarity though. Tbh I can’t think off the top of my head of another game that has a continued story that looks distinctly different (other than texture resolution quality) than the one that came before it.
I guess maybe resident evil 7 and 8…but then they’re contained in their own story arch within that universe…where as god of war 2018 is still kratos continued story.
Basically God of war 2018 was very special indeed. So I agree with the sentiment that ‘sequels are more of the same’…the doesn’t mean we shouldn’t want them to be different (in this case I know you don’t), but because it’s such a rarity the expectation on them being different is probably more of a given…regardless of the different direction 2018 took to god of war 3
@BartoxTharglod I dunno man…when you’re reaching for games over 20years old it sounds pretty uncommon to me.
Like I said, to me sequels are direct continuations of a story arc. Those set in the same universe I don’t personally count as direct sequels…Bioshock infinite I don’t see as a direct sequel to bioshock 2. If I played it without playing 2 I wouldn’t miss out on any background context. Where as bioshock 1 and 2 add to one another.
Zelda games, unless playing direct sequels, can all exist without one another. Breath of the wild 2 is a direct sequel though that you’ll benefit from playing the first prior.
I do agree there’s cannon there though, and re-occurring characters. But for me they exist in their own bubble.
Yeah it’s definitely not a rule that they’re all the same. But expectations are set by experience…it’s very rare sequels differ much…particularly if they’re on the same engine. I mean as crazy as it is to think sequels can’t drastically change from game to game…imagine how wild a franchise would be if every iteration of a continued story like say Last of Us differed drastically from game to game - cell shaded Last of us 3 where Ellie can now fly…I don’t think anybody would be expecting that!
Aliens is definitely a sequel to alien. The tones different but it doesn’t exist in a vacuum…still distinctively Alien
