Clap Hanz Golf, the spiritual successor to Hot Shots Golf, launched into Apple Arcade a little while ago – and now it’s available on the Nintendo Switch, under a new name, Easy Come Easy Golf. It marks the first release on a rival console from the long-time PlayStation partner, which had previously had all 13 of its titles published by Sony in the past.
Of course, none of this prevents a potential PlayStation port in the future, as it appears the Yokohama-based developer is operating independently these days. But while we’re looking forward to triple-clicking our way through the Nintendo Switch version, it is disappointing that Sony wasn’t able to snag a port of the arcade sports title on PS5 and PS4 on the same day.
You can check out a trailer above to get a taste of the distinctly Hot Shots gameplay. And, if nothing else, you can at least play the original PS1 Hot Shots Golf as part of PS Plus these days.

I wish Clap Hanz nothing but the best. They somehow provided me with countless hours of entertainment playing a sport I don’t actually like. I do hope that their latest makes its way to Playstation eventually, since my Switch has been mostly decorative for a very long time.
I'm fine with this, I would much prefer an everybody's golf sequel anyway
Clap Hanz dropped Sony as soon as they dropped Handhelds lol, their Games dont sell on actual PS Consoles
Thats a pity i bought all their games i loved the PS3 version the most the PS4 version was a horrible mistake.
@Flaming_Kaiser I loved the PS4 one personally.
I was wondering about a new Hot Shots... I really like the gameplay of the ps4 one although they kinda ruined it with the open world stuff
Absolutely love the Hot Shots series, the PS4 and PSVR games were brilliant. Would love a PSVR2 game from them.
"Easy Come Easy Golf will you let it go"
Bismillah! No, we will not let it go.
Hands down, the best Hot Shots golf game is the one for the Vita. The one on the PS4 (Everybody’s Golf) was fine, but I preferred the star system of the Vita game. Too bad the new one isn’t on PS5. It’d be one of the few games I’d be happy to pay full price for.
@get2sammyb It was so bloody ugly the PS3 game looked better it was the only one i sold in less then a week i still own the other copies.
Hot Shots Golf: Out Of Bounds is the reason I understand the sport now. I still fire up Everybody’s Golf from time to time. I’ll like pick up the next PS installment as well.
One by one Sonys 2nd and 3rd party teams continue move on to greener pastures.
I think Clap Hanz moved on from PS when Japan Studio was closed tbh. JS often acted as a collaboration partner to second and third parties in Asia, just as XDev does for European studios. So Clap Hanz probably lost their contacts within Sony.
Perfect game for a handheld so would pick this up on switch over PS probably anyway…
why did sony throw clap hanz under the bus? hot shots series was a playstation staple for decades. there is no excuse for this ill treatment of such a great developer.
Hold up… get Alex on the tele and tell him they missed the number one game of the entire presentation in their coverage.
The Switch has a lot of cartoony, arcade style golf games.
I’ll wait and see if it pops up in the state of play tonight if not the switch will be getting some golfing.
Edit
Well that turned out overwhelmingly disappointing, menus, Shot system are awful. graphics are ps3 level, character design is terrible. I guess I’ll be sticking with the fantastic but soon to be offline everybody’s golf for years to come, ***** Sony
I hope the relationship is mended and they return with a EG VR2. First one was great, just needed more content and multiplayer.
Such a shame, especially as this looks like a return to form, and closer to the graphical style of the PS3 games that most people preferred.
I really liked Everybody's Golf on the PS4 so I may have to pick this up.
Loved the PS4 game and still play Everybody's Golf 2 (PSP edition) on my Vita.
@Porco I think @get2sammyb got the description right with "PlayStation partner" - only Sony (effectively) stabbed their partner in the back by closing Japan Studio.
I'll keep an eye on this for the Switch then, I suppose.
